Weird or super geeky things we do

I have a notepad containing maybe a hundred or so pages of:

2 x CV
1 x BC
1 x CL
3 x DD

Or lists to that effect...
Either that or huge lists of provinces, I swear I must spend more time organising and editing my games than I do playing them.

Re: gaming girlfriends, they're a double-edged sword, a lady you can share a headshot with, go questing with or even (I've sure as hell never met one though) invade Poland with is obviously something precious. More likely though you'll end up with something closer to my own GF:

"Oh, he can climb?"

On the plus side though I am allowed to make "Battle of the Bulge" jokes when I'm horny, so I guess that kinda balances things out (and no, they're never funny).

Haha, i liked forced my GF once to try out HoI2. She started a 36 as Britain, put maximum speed, and clicked completely random for like 10 minutes, and the, again, told me how strange it is to play a game where you sit and stare at a map that just change colour here and there. It was cute of her to give it a try thou

hahaha, the loft above my garage serves this purpose a couple nights a week.

Also would it count that i wear a R.A.F. replica officers hat when i play MP?

Hehe my GF actually join us for multiplayer games in both HoI2 and HoI3, think shes starting to get the hang off it now even if her Italy just had a minor setback in Ethiopia...

So there are girls out there that play, even if not many do. Odds are alot more girls prefer the peaceful Paradox game series like EU or Victoria.


I know I feel geeky when throwing myself over some history books just because off some argument on this forum or some event going on in the game, but I guess Its pretty normal judging from replies to this thread ^^

I have been a geek all my life in this regard. Some of my first drawings as a young boy were of Japanese bombers and warships being blasted by the Americans (since I read a lot of the Buck Danny strip series back then). Wow, did I have some fun just drawing these battleships and bombers and then painting the whole thing red with my red coloured crayon in an orgy of explosions and fire.

I also found a very old drawing of myself when I was about 6 years old of German Heinkel 111-bombers with the black crosses on the wings and fuselage.

Now I am 33 years old and almost a father myself, but I still draw small pictures of German Panther or Tiger Tanks when I am having as long conversation on the phone (even on the job). I also tend to draw a lot of Iron Crosses, God knows why.

I guess it is in my DNA to have an interest in WW2. I wouldnt be surprised if my young son does the same thing. :rofl:

brilliant! I've been wondering if it would be to heavy to wear a german helmet when playing. Never got as far as trying though.

Hmm I used to play with my RN number one's on for atmosphere. Before sending stacks of ships to their death.

no clue sry. They been lying around in my parents house as far as i can remember (a german and a german painted into a danish resistance) so i got no clue where they are from.

How would you know that not many women are playing, really? Just beacause these forums are heavily gender biased doesn't mean that there cannot be thousands of women storming Utah beach as we speak (or read).

Odds are alot more girls prefer the peaceful Paradox game series like EU or Victoria.

If you're playing those games peacefully you aren't playing them right.

Ofcourse my circle of acquaintances is rather limited, so that is entirely possible

But out of the 15 or so of my RL friends playing HoI there is only one Girl

If I had a basement I'd turn it into a bomb shelter. Practical for so many occasions! WW3, Zombie/Alien attack, crazy madman neighbour attack... and so on. Of course, if you turn it into a war gaming room beforehand, you can stay down for years without being bored out of your mind. Good plan!
