I have mentioned this in other posts but I think it deserves it's own thread. Does anyone else think some of the traits are a little (to put it mildly) overdone?

My pet peev is the engineer trait. A general with this can cross any major river with no penalty.

Why didn't the allies bring this guy to the Rhine? They obviously wouldn't have needed all those paratroopers - he can walk on water!

I'm setting up the most difficult defence you can imagine the other side of the volga and one man appears on the opposite bank who can guide his army across as if the river didn't exist?

What really baffles me is how something like this can be allowed into the game?

yes thats a good point. i never really thought about it.. I just picked out the Panzer leaders for Germany and then rushed them all :)

but you are right the engineer attribute should be removed and replaced by another more logical attribute. I don't know any at the moment, but maybe we could write down some suggestions in this thread.

edit: it came into my mind that half the rivercrossing penalty then usual would be enough as attribute. No penalty is too much.

I feel that too many leader have traits. They should be reserved for exceptional attributes.

However, given the game as it is I recommmended to Vulture that the USMC land leaders be Comandos.

Before mods kick this somewhere out far in the enhancement thread...

Engineer should be removed, but for the other reason: it's a useless mod. A proper tech research pretty much gets rid of all the negative crossing modifiers. That, and to have a good attack, you're going to need to hit them from several directions anyway... *one* engineer won't help you :)
