I'm really getting sick of Britain releasing Columbia as a satellite nation, than releasing Canada later. The problem with this is that Columbia seems useless. No Anglo and French Canadian pops ever migrate there and immigration is non-existent. It's just native american minors and that's it. Also, Germany colonized North Africa and then releases the entire colony as the Confederation at Mauritania. This might be more of a problem of Vic 2, but I wish Africa had more cores for possible nations in uncolonized regions. Yes, you should be able to release a nation like Mauritania but also Mali and other west african nations.

Columbia is the only really odd and ugly one that appears in 99% of all games. I think its problems are caused becuse:

1) Columbia accepts british pops, so a large chunk of their immigrants just stay british and don't assimilate.
2) Canada is not a cultural union, so even if you release it later on, Columbia will never apply for statehood and will remain independent.

Interesting. I got a few questions though. Do British pops in Australia assimilate into Australians? (Do Aussie pops even exist in the game)? And in my current game as the Confederate States, my Afro American pops have massively decreased within a decade in-game. I'm thinking they assimilated into Dixie as well. Is that so?

British is good at attracting migrants though (at least until they fall to a revolution) so they're not that insignificant.

The problem with African cores in uncolonized parts of Africa is that some of the current african states were created by arbitrary choices from european colonizers so it would be weird to pre-impose such choices. Then you'd have to interpret which african nations were meaningful political identities pre-colonization and along which borders.
The most recognized cases are there (Madagascar, Zulus, Sokoto, Ethiopia) with the problem that if you release one they're released as primitives while the "new" satellites" are released as civilized. It's strange to suppose Madagascar or India released in 1930 would have none of the basic reforms and techs.

Edit : There's no australian pop so they stay british as it is the main culture. As Afro-american, did they pop actually reduce in numbers or did they reduce in percentages ? Massive european immigration to the US or CSA will lower Afro-american as percent because europeans will assimilate into dixie and yankee.

Afro Americans will assimilate as long as they are not an accepted culture of the ruling country. So if you are the CSA, or a USA that never passed the decision to get them accepted, they will eventually disappear.

They both reduced in numbers and percentages. The Dixie pops increased too. So I'm thinking they assimilated. This was also before I received massive amount of immigrants from many countries late game.

Accepted culture can be assimilated too. It's just slower. Given enough time, USA would be only Yankee and no Dixies. It's just really slow unless you are America/Oceania.
