Well, it'd be easy for Germany in HOI3. Since Germany is usually the aggressor that actually provokes WWII, it can just refuse to light the spark. Germany can still win the game by influencing all nations to join up with the Axis powers.

It might be harder for the UK, but if you look at the event triggers, you might be able to find some way to game the system. If I had any HOI game, I'd try it out myself.

One could try a pacifistic isolationist Nazi Germany where you don't annex the Czechs and choose peace at Danzig or war. Fortify East Prussia etc.

Swiss World Conquest.

Good idea. No one would expect those shifty and neutral Swiss to conquer the world.

Perhaps an early war to grab Austria would be possible for them? Or joining either the Axis or Allies, and getting an opportunity to grab some lands in the process. Perhaps joining Germany and declaring war on Italy, for instance?

Alternatively, you could play a game as France, attempting to pull a Napoleon. I have tried it twice on normal/furious, but the French are surprisingly hard to play as I must say! I managed to hold out until the summer of 1941. By that time the Germans had seriously started to outproduce me, my manpower had started running out, and not to mention their troops' superior org. level. You can't expect any British help either, unless military controlling them (which I chose not to do). But then again, I invaded Italy while Germany was busy in Poland, rather than focusing on opening a second front in the west for Germany. I didn't use any gamey extended Maginot Line either (just fort level 5 in Lille and Paris). Perhaps a large-scale invasion of western Germany while they are busy with Poland would have changed the outcome.

One could try a pacifistic isolationist Nazi Germany where you don't annex the Czechs and choose peace at Danzig or war. Fortify East Prussia etc.

I have personally played with the thought of a Market Liberal Germany, but do you think anything will happen unless Germany gets the ball rolling?

Doomsday scenario. komintern side. From what I know, no one yet has recorded a Komintern victory in his Komintern AAR

Because of lack of interest to fight a naval war, or getting stopped in Europe? If the latter, it sounds very interesting I must say. Otherwise it sounds like a German game past Russia's defeat: Just a waiting game to win.

Germany has GoI on Austria and will declare war on the Swiss. Believe me, I tried it. :D

In my experience, the problem is land war in Europe.
Simply put. SOV do have superiority of numbers. Sort of. BUT their forces are outdated, at the end of a long supply chain, and on top of that Leningrad, Moscow AND a third city get NUKED in first hour of game play, giving you loads of dissent. Not to mention that Civil war in China can escalate into your involvement (and you certainly want to get involved because you don't wand 1000 div nationalist China on your eastern border. Did I mention that AI can land in Vladivostok?
And on top of that, due to AI being slightly stupid, you might not be able to destroy Allied divisions in running battle, but in the end 30+ USA divs will fortify the Swamps of Netherlands, making them into an impenetrable fortress on your northern flank, just as you are pushing into France.
Not to mention that Allies out-IC you, out-tech you, and can open fronts on silly amount of places.

Damn, it does sound like that scenario would be interesting then after all. I actually thought that it would be harder for the Western Allies due to the sheer size of the Russian army.

you want a dare? how about a salo republic/dominican republic/sarwak alliance in doomsday, poised for world conquest.

It has never been done before? Damn...

I still have to go with Swiss WC, but without alliances, much more fun that way.
I mean freakin' Luxembourg can win at everything when allied to Germany.
Start by invading Italy by mid '38, then quickly expand into the precious Balkan, and if you hurry up a lot you can reach Poland before the Germans do.
Invade France when Germany is crossing through Belgium, Spain, Turkey (if you want a middle easter front with the Allies), and then by '42 you can backstab Germany while most of it's forces are in Russia.
Easy, right? :)

Well I might be biased. The first game I played, was YUG game Doomsday scenario. A bit later I switched to SOV. Since I was a green player, in order to stop constant beach invasions (you need to garrison EVERY single beach province in MED, until you take Gibraltar) I had to resort to cheating and disband Allied navy and aforementioned fortified USA divs.
But than again, I know of only TWO AARs with that scenario. One was by that fellow Tribulation or something, and he played as Greece I think but against a seriously beefed up SOV. It was disbanded just sa Sov were conquering EU. The second one was a Komintern AAR, where player allowed himself to play any Komin nation (first was Com. China) EXCEPT SOV. The AAR ended with Allies plowing deep into Russia after heavy fighting in Europe.

Any volunteers for the brainstorming sessions? Some of the ideas thrown around.

Doomsday Soviet AAR
Swiss world conquest
Post Bitter Peace Soviet game.

Most German games will be to easy in a human players hands I suspect due to AI stupidity. Hell I can beat the Soviets with a very heavy naval buildup in 36-42.

For post bitter epace games as the Sviets or any other nation requiring you to run a normal game as another team what would be the conditions so to speak? Ie human player as Germany, BP Soviets, switch games to Soviets, but you could make it easier as the Soviets for example by not making the Wehrmacht as nasty as it could be, or beat the Soviets with the bare minimum of forces.

My suggestion. A nuclear armed Poland that has focused on developing nuclear weapons and jet planes along with missile delivery systems. Try and play for the late game.

Would it be gamey to have tech team takeover on as Switzerland? They have no naval team for example. They could have atomics though as they have a decent lvl 6 nuke team. Kaboom. Join the Axis and leave it after you hopefully win?

How would one manipulate random events via the sliders? Switzerland is very isolationist and democratic and doesn't get any free slider moves. Just become autocratic and suck up the dissent hit? Version 1.3 Useing the manpower cheat would it be to excessive to give yourself +200 manpower?

Nah that's okay, unless you want your WC to start be '43 of course...
So, full IC and techteam takeover on?
