Hello, as you've probably understood, this thread will be only about Generals of both the Waffen SS and the Wehrmacht.
NO WARCRIMES WILL BE DISCUSSED

First of, I have some questions that would be useful to have answered.
  1. Will there be Waffen SS generals also included in the game?
  2. If there are Waffen SS generals, will there be a distinction between them and Wehrmacht generals?
  3. Will there be more actual generals that are real other than the ones you start with or will there only be randoms?
If there are Waffen SS Generals included, I'd like to suggest one of the arguably best Waffen SS Generals. His Name was Felix Steiner, a german Waffen SS general who was very succesful.
A veteran of the Great War getting a Iron Cross, a training expert who was deeply respected in the German army and by the Soviets.
He fought first with SS battalion Deutschland and later SS battalion Wiking, he was very succesful all the way from Poland, through France in and out of Russia and finally in Pomerania and north of Berlin..He was a overall a great General and of honourable sort.
He was viewed as the last hope for Berlin by Hitler and was admired by many of the General Staff for his ability to lead his troops.
He was first on the southern front with leading SS Wiking, even with the famous Russian Mud, he managed to get over the Dneipier river where he would have to go on the defensive from the Russian counterattack of the winter 1941. His unit held their ground during the Russian offensive, the following summer his unit stormed Rostov and made it to the Euro-asian border. The unit was fighting later in Mozdok and Alagir.
Another great accolade was the defense of Narva where he defended from across the river resulting in a great victory despite being heavily outnumbered. There's even a movie made about this.
With 50'000' men and 300 tanks he managed to push the Soviet 68th Army back 8 miles in a single day. The following the day was also victorious, it was so sucessful General Zhukov was required to send 2 Tank armies to stop his advance.
When Berlin fell and everyone realized the war was lost, he fled with his unit and surrendered to the Americans, saving his men from labour camps in the Soviet Union.

There are some very good pictures of him that could easily be made for the game. He could have the Old-Guard trait since he fought in the Great War and was a Major before joining the V-Truppe, a prerunner to the Waffen SS. He was a great trainer and his unit had a very good espirit de corps so he could have some bonus from that.
It's just a suggestion, post your own suggestions for Generals so far unseen in WWW or in some kind of DD and some background info!

Why is that? I don't see anything about this being hindered in the forum rules!

I think the devs are sick of having to babysit on these banned topics. It is just a hunch.

Have to, as they are mentioned under "What is different in the German Version"
  • If there are Waffen SS generals, will there be a distinction between them and Wehrmacht generals?
They may wear a differnt uniform, as the Skull on their Cap is mentioned as missing in said version.

here is a list of all the generals in the game

http://www.hoi4wiki.com/List_of_commanders

This is an interesting list for a number of reasons -- for example -- it is interesting to see the "decline" in the skill ratings of most of the German generals compared with HOI3 where there are no "5" (except of Donitz) in HOI4 but there are/were bunches in HOI3 -- also on the same lines the fall of both Model and Paulus (5 and 4 in HOI3) to "1" in HOI4 is spectacular. Another brief example is giving MacArthur of the US a defensive trait. General MacArthur was on the strategic and tactical defensive twice in his career (once in the Philipines in 1941-2 and once in Korea in late 1950-early 1951. He totally screwed up both. In the Philipines despite having many years to prepare for the Japanese attack he got his army bottled up in Bataan without bothering to stockpile supplies and food so it was overwhelmed and starved by Japanese forces that were numerically inferior. (Contrast that with Yamashita who within 3 weeks of showing up in 1944 managed to retreat reorganize in a hostile environment that was totally cut off and tie down an entire American army for the rest of the war and still come home with 1/2 his army intact). In Korea, MacArthur failed to notice 500,000 Chinese volunteers sneaking up on him and was thoroughly defeated and nearly lost his army and did lose essentially all of North Korea before he was sacked.

Well the waffen ss only had those two harry potter marks on the uniform.

The totenskopf units had a deathhead on the uniform
