Well the 1st session is in the books and I will say I enjoyed it quite a bit.
Even though I am well on my way to leading the easiest nation in MP straight into the toilet, I had a good time overall.
A few quick observations.... 1st thanks to Prince E for hosting the game. we had one CTD after 30 minutes (but that wa pro'bly due to his XP popping in w/a message) and after that, 2.5 hours of smooth uninterupted play w/9 players... very smooth.
The 1st thing I will say is KEEP THE SPEED TO BELOW NORMAL PLEASE!!! I almost stroked out having to deal w/4 explorers, sending out colonists in 2 Hemispheres, readying a invasion fleet and invasion army, and putting down revolts in my european holdings... that part was definately not fun.
2ndly, can ANYONE give me some MP war advice when fighting another player... I naively went forward thinking "well, let's keep the forces balanced infantry & cavalry" - seemed to be a combo of my ignorance of the combat system (and I was a beta

) and a idiotic feeling (in hindsight anyway) that those all Cav armies were one of the gamey tactics we were avoiding... my bad which I quickly corrected after France thrashed my 2 little armies (costing me 2 leaders in the process).. .it's a good thing Kings can't be impeached or the Good King of Spain would have been out of office rather rapidly.
There was one major war in the game - France and friends (all AI nations, Papal, Savoy, Bourbannais, Brittany) took on Spain, England & Portugal and soundly kicked our collective assess.
When I saw that 1st French army of I think around 40,000 cavalry cut thru my 2 armies (totaled around 35,000 total men I think) I KNEW I was in trouble.
So after a war that seemed to last forever france finally quit toying w/us and accepted peace for 2 provinces... Spain was quite bitter
3rd - when any war breaks out involving a human player I would suggest that the speed be dropped even further than the Below Normal level - there just doesn't seem to be enough time to do any diplomacy at the below normal speed... but that's just an opinion at this point...
I enjoyed all the guys that showed and played and to those that showed and couldn't play, check back in often, I'm sure we could use some subs
now that the observations are out of the way a quick overview of Spains accomplishments...
Found the Carribean islands, colonized & TP'd some, found the heathens, couldn't save them as planned due to the little 1st Spanish-Franco War, damn that worthless vassel Naples, Spain got her ass kicked royally, naples got annexed by Savoy & papal states, France got Rousalana (or whatever it's called) then Spain got back to what it's here for, saving the heathens of the new world... took out the Aztecs who happened to have annexed most of the other indians I think (or else it's something new in Peter's mod, I've never played the mod before) so I got everything north of Nicaragua (except the yucatan province) w/a 0 revolt risk - the only bit of good news I got all game...
of course during this time, I'm way behind in my exploration attempts - damn that Frenchy... and Sicially is revolting - literally and figuratively - so both provinces are controlled by rebels and I figure that if the buggers want freedom that badly I'll give it to em - create a vassal state for em... does that make the buggers happy?? Noooooo - they are still controlled by the damn rebels...
not sure exactly what they want now - I stronly suspect the hand of organized crime myself...
So I left Spain after 3 hours of play prob'ly in worse shape than any spain has ever been left by any player ever in any MP game...
I'm so proud
