I applaud your modesty, but:
Impoverished: OE has almost twice the income of France
Backwards: OE is about on par with the most advanced nations in the world in the area of land technology
OE also has the most manpower by a significant margin
In short, the Sultan rules over a mighty Islamic Empire.
Poor, poor Portugal. I only lead in Naval tech. I am second in inf though. Is that Infantry? Can't be infrastructure.

A brief EU2 Introduction :
I have owned EU2 for around two years now , but usually play as one of the smaller ,trade orientated countries. Lately my interest has brought me to the north in the game , playing as Sweden and Denmark etc. Hence , my interest in the current "opening."
However, I have never played EU2 online and am rather curious to see how it turns out.
Anyhow , I look forward to joining in on the next game.

You're inheriting a bloated Sweden with much of Norway, decent inflation, and good land tech. Also, your centralization DP is good.
BTW, I've practiced so much with Sweden I'm willing to give some advice for whoever plays it. Especially diplomacy.

I read up on all the posts - thanks to Stoney for running Spain, sorry I didn't get you my info but I had to leave town (no Inet connection on the Perdinalles) - I'm off to chekc the AAR section next.
Seems France went all huffy and bailed on bullying Austria - wonder what that bodes for Spain - but can someone tell me how France decided to join the Spain/Port/UK alliance? I am assuming it was a AI decision but if not I look forward to that explanation

The AI Portugal invited France, and for some reason the sub for France accepted. As I understand it, it will be corrected next session.

I'm not sure the sub made a big mistake for France. With France's claim that she won't meddle with Spain or Austria, why shouldn't she join the alliance? It garuntees peace in western Europe for some time. Furthermore, it allows Spain, Portugal, and England to spend all their time on their colonies.
The real question is, what happened to Prince Pommerania. Has he bailed on us for good, did something come up for him suddenly, or did he just skip a session. If you're there PP, please let us know, so we can look for a sub if your done.

I believe it was Elijah subbing for France and the French player, whoever that is, should be grateful for his excellent handling of the Wars of Religion, which can easily set France back by a decade or three. As for France's entry into the alliance, Portgual was alliance leader and while Lethke was sleeping , the ai decided to invite both England and France.

Uber alliances are a gamey tactic that is usually prohibited by house rules. For all of western Europe to join into one huge alliance is gamey. Furthermore, it was totally inconsistent with the diplomatic course that the regular players were pursuing. Spain was pursuing her traditional role as an ally of Austria containing France, and France was pursuing an anti-Austrian policy.

Edit: Btw last week was unusual in that I was supposed to have Friday off then it turned into a half day, then it turned into a full day till 7pm PDT to cover for staff sent home. I normally work till 5pm PDT on Fridays and car pool to get home with time to spare.
However, once in a while work will detain me, or car pool may fall through - then it's bus time. I am talking once every 3 to 4 weeks. And like last week I can give specific time ETA if it happens.

Actually Habsburg, its been great with you since you log on at almost exactly the time you say you will, causing us to lose pretty much no playing time. If everyone was that accurate, we'd get 15-20 years done instead of less than 10.
