Sorry for the delay, folks !
Allow me to pass the torch on to
@coz1 for his dramatic AAR
The Bold Prince.
Excellent work, coz1 !
Thank you very much
@fabiolundiense! This is a very kind nod and most helpful to me as of late as I have been struggling to balance available time and writing (a constant problem for us all, I am certain.) This showcase pushed me to get out some material to take advantage of the week and I think it is some good stuff...I hope. I am certainly pleased that you and others are enjoying the work, from the beginnings back in
The Rightful King all the way to now. I am not sure what I intended in the beginning other than to get back into writing. Now, it is over a year later and during that time, I have written something nearly every day. My posting habits have inevitably slowed down but I've not had to take the long breaks as have happened in the past. A lot of that has to do with those reading and enjoying, so in many ways this honor must be shared with my readers and commenters. Writing at this place is a symbiotic and synergistic relationship. That is a thing I learned in college when studying theatre and taught well by a particular professor in discussing what theatre is all about. I believe that is why I have enjoyed this forum for so many years. It is much the same.
The start had a fine reception and received plenty of accolades and for that I am thankful as it helped me know that what I was doing was working. That this sequel seems to continue on with such praise and reward lets me know it remains of high quality. I hope it does, at any rate. I write to entertain, an audience and myself...to better the craft...and frankly because I love the period and it is wonderful to share in such love in a place where I know others will be curious. Most people I meet in RL don't know or even care about early medieval England as I do. This place is a wonderful refuge for a number of reasons and to gain a readership only allows more of that great interaction.
I hope some may take the time to look back at both this work and the first tale. I have had a great deal of fun writing it and think it some of my better work over the years. Winning a showcase is always nice, no doubt. I hope it always spurs one on to check out the piece noted.
Thank you once again, sir!
For my sins I've still not finished catching up with The Rightful King, but as that is excellent I'll assume the sequel is just as good so I can risk a "well done" for something I've not read. Congratulations
@coz1 , it's well deserved I'm sure
By this date, it is a long tale so no worries in catching up, my friend. I know that I am remiss at catching up on your own very long tale much less others that you have begun in that time. I've always enjoyed your work, El Pip. Keep it up and thank you.
Well earned! Even if my favorite just bit the dust before he bites the final dust.
Are you saying that you have lost faith with King Uhtræd after his last action? He could not be a Boy Scout forever.
Thank you to all that have offered congratulations and more importantly, to those that continue to read the work and offer their thoughts. That, above all else, is what makes this practice that much more fun. I've really enjoyed writing again this past year and as it stands now, there seems to be no end in sight. Much of that is due to you readers! Thank you!
I'll be back at the end of the week to appoint my successor and I think I know what it might be. In the meantime, make sure to head over to the ACAs and vote for your favorites. Voting is still on for a couple more days and it serves a purpose very much like this nod...pointing people to a good read. We have always hoped that these awards helped gain someone a larger readership. I may not need it (though I am thankful for what I have gained and always wish for more) but so many others do. Follow the links...read the work...and most importantly, comment! It is our life-blood.
