Heh, I didn't go to N.America cause of the hostilities from Flanders and Scotland, I could have 20 Colonies there now. I'll not bother to give away freebies beyond 2 or 3 colonies :p to Scotland or Flanders

Copenhagen is not a major loss, and I know it costs you. Germany slaughtered those Mercs every time..I bet when I go 9 Offensive and 10 Land that'll be even worse despite CRT Disadvantage... Cometh my Scottish Friend, I'm certian Russia would relieve you of Scandanavia if you took it from omia

Well you gave away 6...

The fact that you killed the armies I sent isn't the point - likewise I killed all your forces in NA, Flanders killed every invasion force you sent, etc. etc. Most armies in EU2 don't last very long in a war. The point is that you're suffering a 20% or so income penalty from Sweden, and the mere fact that I can send armies across the sund means you'll devote attention and resources to countering this, rather than the main front with Flanders.

I don't interpreting this silent in this forum as a full peace time in the game.
This world seems to get corrupted as well and its the time for our country to take expansion. The Constantinople Assembly choose to finish the work against North Africa for now and ever. Also, we want, allies and us, advertising Milan to not cross the orthodox boarders on the east side if they don't want be crushed by the Orient Orthodox-Muslim Fierces Coalition.
Take it like an full advertisement not like a easy war declaration.

Taking copenhagen gives Scotland a number of advantages over Germany, who up to this point has been the main foe. Until Lifford decided to throw in his lot with you for good (or another temporary change of sides - in any case Moscow is too unreliable to deal with) it would have been possible to win any war by blockading the sund and taking German Scandinavia. Russia makes it more difficult but I can still hurl 60k mercenary armies at Jutland etc.

...taking Copenhagen was a great move. A nice friendly sea zone that plugs up the Sund is perfect.

for good? ... I've only been allied with Germany for 2 sessions and 2 wars and those were for fun. Hardly makes "for good"

Unrealiable? Just trying to make the game interesting and shaking things up.

Interesting. I just did a flip through of the past saves. Leon has been allied with Scotland since 1540 (5 Sessions) and Flandres has been in the Western Alliance since 1554 (4 Sessions). I would think that this qualifies as "For Good" don't cha think? :)

If I was a betting man I would bet that the 3 western allies have divided the world up into their respective spheres and have no reason to fight now, which would be a darned shame for the game. Hopefully with the change of monarchs this seemingly eternal alliance will come to an end. :)

You know... I just realized that with random games Victory Points suddenly have meaning again. I've always played for VP's but this fact might inspire others to as well

Victory Point Standing (After Session IX)

  1. Scotland - 3246
  2. Muscowy - 3085
  3. Flandres - 2798
  4. Bukhara - 2626
  5. Germany - 2089
  6. Leon - 1587
  7. Byzantine Empire - 1585
  8. Sicily - 1467
  9. Milan - 1043
  10. Golden Horde - 375

... Drake just pointed out that Milan/Sicily/Germany have been pretty much allied most of the game as well. Adding Muscowy to that mix has pretty much cemented in the Western Alliance :(

well, i've tried to make new alliances but every time I do Flanders DOWs Milan or Leon or me in a land grab. I've talked to every nation trying to look for a new 'pathway' but hey!! Now that Flanders and Scotland have some sort of eternal devotion, why bother. Every time I try to break an Alliance and form another Drake stabs me in the back. At least JTU, Dave, Shigure are predictable and reliable..

Even Spec is semi-predictable... but the others hell, they're not paying any attention to anything but 'personal situations' and only worried about personal loss. So far I've sacrificed a lot, and Milan and Sicily too. Noone else has, and noone else BESIDES DAVE, seems to want to, bahhh and blahhhh and whatever else... I should join up with Scotland and Flanders and let them fund me and protect me, I'd get further and it would be truly an Uber Alliance then and I'd likely lose less to Russia then to Flanders and Scotland in the end.. Leon is afraid to fight them and so I doubt Byz will. Bukhara and GH can't really and 1 of them won't Embargo

this keeps up I will and you all can can sa la vie to a handful of guys attempting to keep 'balance!'

The early Germany, Milan, Sicily, Leon alliance and cooperation was a direct reaction to repeated Flemish attacks on each of its neighbors IN TURN. The isolation of Flanders was the direct result of that bad diplomacy. It should have, at a minimum, picked one of those nations to be allied and faithful to, and it would not have been forced to seek an alliance with Scotland, being the only power in the West that it had not threatened or attacked at some point. Remember that Germany and Milan were initially NOT allied, and Sicily and Leon were separately allied to each other until the Flemish attack on Leon. Flanders should have been on the telegraph constantly to someone if it didn't want all of its neighbors to panic at its teching and military buildup since no one knew toward whom it was directed.

I believed that I was shaking up set-in-stone alliances when I allied with Scotland, but it just shifted Leon into the Western alliance, especially when Muscovy allied with Germany. Now we have three camps, the Western, the Central-Muscovy and the Muslim. Hope things are more fluid than they presently seem.

I didn't pass judgement on your arrangements with Germany, I didn't say it was bad or anything - just it seems that Moscow will support Germany in any conflict with the west for the foreseeable future, at least until Germany becomes stronger than Drake and I would let it become. Of course, that may change with new players.

youre coalition started with milan and germany after both of you lost a single war vs me
-leon was mainly out for gains
-sicly i dunno why he joined milan against me after me savng his ass vs milan earlyer either

-situation was simple , under pibe milan was threatening to become uber a he gathert huge aliance ect , germany-flandern made a deal
-pibe left jtu joined situation changed milan took different path so deal was off instead germany was then threatening to ake most of germany with alliance while milan was getting boxed in wich had to be stopped
-germany attacked i gained my 2coreprovs only even tho i reached german capitol (can't say my demands where alot)
-milan was just a target of opurtonity as he had my other core and baden ....

fighting bth milan and germany was meaned to keep wars over small areas of germany going between all 3factions tho i was wrong , milan -germany allys deviding most of germany for themself wich as originally suposed to be a area of conflict

you guys ganged me after taking 4provs from me directly and about another 6-8provs from ai compared to my former gains you shouldn't be talking nor complaining about my "agression"

coalition was born forcing me to ally schotland
drew made attempts to convince me to punish hypertechers obviously meaning schotland , tho i dowed leon unaware they made the coalition into a permanent unoficial alliance that was the last attempt in this game to fight a 1vs1 war ever , and where sicily was alowed to dow schotland with crt advantage for me it was considert a valid reason to call entire central europe to arms against me while the war was originally only over stuppid acces !

I happen to think that the concept of a "1v1 war" or the idea that calling allies is somehow dishonorable to be a bit silly. How is it in the interest of any of the nations that you attacked to fight you in a "1v1 war", when each time you would invariably win, get stronger, attack again later on, etc.? The whole point of being peaceful the first 150 years is so you can war the hell out of everyone the last 250. It is through luck, good play, and good allies that Flanders now is powerful instead of where Germany is.

Drake, I'd strongly encourage you not to quit the game, it would be a shame to see Flanders fall apart.

Drake, I'd strongly encourage you not to quit the game, it would be a shame to see Flanders fall apart.

i made up my mind about quiting just stating opinion and facts , also fact is if they devide flandern up germany wil be biggest benefitor on the continent , and schotlan wil most likly absorbe all of na colonis but i did thought there was somebody in need of a countr here....

Well, for my part, I really want to go on with this game iv been accustomed with, all the players ive began to appreciate...
I hope theyll be kind of a spot since ive been here before some other players and have contribuate to developpe this game.
I would be very proud of continuing leading Sicily, and theres no point in saying Sicily cant handle 1 vs 1 wars or world wars....
See you all newt wednesday.

You wouldn't take over Sicily because now there is no need for Shigure to move out of Sicily, if Bocaj and that other guy are going to fill Scotland/Flandern.

Aye it's a shame to have Drake quit but Flandres will be in good hands with Shigure. They're both good players :)

Sitting Bull gets Sicily otherwise he'll be lost in the shuffle.

If I got it right:
* Shigure is taking over Flandres
* Bocaj is taking Scotland
* Sitting Bull is taking Sicily

* TPC is a reliable sub and all round good guy :D
