Nah, the Argentinians were robbed. Go Argentina! :D

Anyway, for the portuguese player, the regent arcorelli reports:
1. Got Zanzibar
2. Morocco vassalized
3. Transkei was annexed (so you need to convert it and make more good iberians)
4. Got a new conquistador, he is currently exploring Brazil and SA (he got good stats, so you could use in Africa maybe)
3. Songhai (and Timbuktu) discovered
4. Got a nice inflation event, so inflation is 0.1 :) Income did not grew a lot, but we are near 40 (yep, I know, it is a poor Portugal but well without that early explorers-conquistadores is a shame indeed).
5. Techs are fine LT 10 (i think in one year you hit LT 11), NT 12, trade 4 (you can embargo, yipee!!), infra 3 (that is the bad part).

Army and navy quite small, but quite useful

No protestant in sight, we don't know what will happen with the others evil heretics (Reformed religion still don't appear)

I apologize for not showing up (and apologize more for not telling you ahead of time that I wouldn't be there), I've been miserably sick all day and haven't much felt like getting out of bed.

(Probably the best for Portugal anyway. :D)

The only bad thing is that since we were hit for a lot of bad stab events, we could not trade much. But I think when you got good stab, Portuguese trade income should be much higher.

New French dynasty

It appears that the recent war waged by Spain and her two puppets (England and Portugal) against the French empire has suffuciently angered the current emperor, that he had abandoned his people. To fill the void, the royal dynasty of Sweden will become the new rulers of France.

As a first edict, the new French rulers are requesting from the God of the Universe, aka Shigure The Bane of Austria, to help remove the Venetian Stability Factor (aka that nasty -5 event that outraged the civilazed world).

As a second edict, the rulers are requesting that the Paris manufactory be restored to its former glory.

As a third edict, the new rulers would like to consult all other rulers about the legality in MP of a certain naval exploit. Namely, the usage of multiple 1-ship navies to disrupt enemy naval operations and 'buy' time.

As a fourth edict, the new rulers would like a discussion with GoU Shigure to learn more about disabled events. Previously, bits and pieces were heard through diplomatic depeches, but little interest was shown on the subject. Now it is hitting home ... literally. The French can be contacted at joro_ianev@yahoo.com or on ICQ.

As a fifth edict, the new rulers feel passionate about the future of their formal empire, Sweden. Having spent a good amount of time paying off the entire loan portfolio and amassing an army large enough to dispatch Denmark (and having occupied 2 of the remaining 4 provinces of Denmark) they feel a new dynasty should be chosen to continue steering the country towards glory and might. Sweden, despite the OE's comment to the contrary, is NOT Europe's backwater! It may be poor, but it is proud and getting mighty!

Thus, NEW RULERS FOR SWEDEN ARE NEEDED!

There is no sixth edict ... for now, at least.

Good luck Joro :D

Well, i want to publicy apologize for the last night scene, but in my behaivour i must tell i was very tired.
The great concatenation of bad events (bug manufactury, two loss of stab events, Venice trick) put me in a bad mood for the game.
While i was trying to explain that by the tab chat i realized that all the members of my alliance were being invaded and i angered(more sure without reason) too much.
When i tried to counter this, the lag was killing me, and i was suddenly fighting in my own lands vs Spain, Austria, England and Portugal (i think not the other players becouse they didn´t arrived at time :D ), my connection(perhaps by too much people attacking me) take me out, and when i returned it was a war i couldn´t win.
Without being pesimistic, i take this like a bad omen for the continuity of my playing.

I hope nobody of you take this in a personal way, i would like play with you in a better time for all. ;)

A good and fun game for you.

Thanks Tiger

Thanks for the good wishes Tiger. There is an old saying: shit happens. It is even worse when it happens to us :p I don't think people took it personally.

Spain is always a tough nutt to fight, but Spain in El Lifford's hands is worse. I have played El Lifford in another game, where he was the Sultan. He is a dangerous guy to play against -- he is the ultimate fox! In that game, an alliance between England, France and the OE was setup to break Spain. He has learnt that lesson and as Spain now, he has immediately isolated France by befriending England .... Smoooooth move!

Of course, future is unknown and random! Who knows, even the peacock can one day have a field glory against the fox ....

Oooh, I like that title. :)

Will do. What was France's stability before the Venetian wars?

As a second edict, the rulers are requesting that the Paris manufactory be restored to its former glory.

Will do, of course.

I'd say this behaviour is a bannable offence. What does everyone else think?

I haven't really had the time to go into the events in detail. As Sir Lifford could tell you, I've been quite sceptical about being able to adapt a randomised setup to a historical scenario, and I'm pleasantly surprised that it's worked as well as it has so far. :) I figure that all the religious events are probably no longer meaningful what with the randomised Reformation, and as the Walls of Paris events have some wakemonarch effects, they will have to be slept as well. If you want, we can edit in a +5 revolt risk for 25 years, and then give you a handful of conversions and DP changes for free to simulate the French WoR. Or we could just leave it out entirely.

Thanks

I would like to say thanks for allowing me to play last evening. I had a good time and hope to see everyone next week.

BTW, being a noob at MP play please feel free to let me know if I violate some of the etiquette that has been established during MP play.

My decision to DoW the papal states was due to the fact that they DoW'd me numerous times and with the tacit consent of some major allies (to be left unnamed  ) I decided it was time to move into Italy proper. I found it quite interesting to see the "small" war in Italy degenerate into a massive slug fest throughout Europe.

You'll soon learn that bankruptcies are deadly. With 50% inflation, your technology now costs half again as much... you've implicitly dropped yourself down to Chinese techgroup or so, and that's without considering the 50% extra you have to pay for troops, upgrades, and even stability. I'm sure Drew and TAF can tell you all about what happens to a country in MP with that sort of liability. ;)

Yup, world wars are a lot of fun. Watch out for Drew, though. He's a shameless backstabber. :D

Yep Bankruptcies are bad, but do happen sometimes, with a little lag you can even have them thata way :( that really sucks to rack up too many lag loans to ever pay off and then be driven into the Unknown of Financing. 50% Inflation is making a Nation near unplayable. Very Rookie-ish and very damaging and almost impossible to ever recover from. You have to watch your bank, if it means losing every last man, province, etc... it's better that way than too much inflation.

Shigure wrote:

"Will do. What was France's stability before the Venetian wars?"

I glanced at France quickly last night and, if memory serves me right, the stability was at -2. I am assuming that the French took a -5 stab hit when the Venetian (Back)Stab event hit. Thus, math will have France with +3 stability, but evil politics may argue lower. As a compromise, I will settle on +2!

I need to understand better how this randomization works. If the entire scenario is randomized, which I applaud fully, then each country should have some access to explorers/conqis. Currently only the 'historic' colonizers, save for the evil Spaniards, do.

Most importantly, on the event side though, is to know which ones WILL hit, so that one prepares. For example, if France goes Reformed now but the WoR event still hits, then it will be quite a bad occurence.

Good scenario though! Almost died seeing two Danish provinces in Antarctica with iron & grapes! Fun! Makes Sweden love Denmark even more ...

Ahhh, on the question of Sweden. SimpleSOB can take over Sweden in case he no longer enjoys high inflation and manipulating Austria! Let Sir Lifford and GoU Shigure know if that is the case.
