Have you looked at N. Africa? To even pretend that they will even be close in power to the weakest current human player nation after the changes proposed are made is ludicrous. Even after the changes are made they will still be by far the weakest nation with enemies all around them including on their continent and now with the Beta patch changes there is a land connection between Gibraltar and Tangiers leading to Leon and no navy to protect that strait. Wasn't Alexandria one of the premier ports in the Med?

Their grasp of English is probably much greater than your grasp of English so I wouldn't bring any of their errors or misspellings up or we could all try this board in French and see how much abuse we would take with regards to that.

We need a vote on this! However, some of the edits purposed are fairly 'extensive' you're going to have to give to get here. You see game balance is going to be wrecked if you give N.A. a full Player Nation will not efforts. Africa is untouched, Leon and Sicily aren't very interested in all of it. Bukhara doesn't seem to be doing 'too much' with it. So Maybe some slider changes but 0ing inflation, and a high NT higher than any of the local competitors will create some bad feelings. We should give N.A. Some reasonable Changes, if she wants to go a bit more Naval now or have some ability to colonize, yes.. 2000 Ducats, 10percent inflation, some other essentials added in that would be fine.. More than that will be diplomatically arranged by the new Player taking her position? That would be best!

That's of course not the point at all. Edits to make a nation playable do not include things like free shipyards, _especially_ when less than a third of the nations in the game have one.

Edit: And come to think of it I also disagree with zeroing out the inflation. NA did things with the money it minted, and considering that some player nations will be deflating for over 100 years straight to achieve zero inflation, I think a halving of the inflation is more than generous.

They are at 40%+ inflation and have very little to show for it? Are you trying to compare what the AI would do with the money to what a human would do with the money? N.Africa has to have some hope of catching up with the rest of the world otherwise what is the use of playing other than if you enjoy getting your ass-handed to you by some other human nation?

I recall that most or all of that minting was done when NA was under human control. The AI is at least halfway competent about managing inflation.

Having played Morocco in the Monday game, I happen to think there isn't much point to playing NA, and I've said this all along. I find these edits in general to be more than generous - NA can be at trade 6 in short order. I'm sure there are several player nations that would like free tech, cash, shipyards, and refineries, but that would defeat the point of playing EU2. You have to draw the line at some point.

You are right that a line has to be drawn at some point...a human ran the inlfation up to 43% or whatever it was before last session? I don't understand how that could happen unless there were repeated lag loans followed by bankruptcies. Or minting for the entire session...

Well I guess I could just make it easy and just not play and let Sitting Bull retake bukhara.

North Africa was a player nation for 3 sessions total? One of the MP Players was a real rookie and skyrocketed the inflation, God knows how... I doubt recall N.A being attacked either. Fact is the initial setup gave us a lot inflation not just from minting but via our Random Event Generator. I had up to 12-13 percent and I was the lowest in the game. Moscow added some %25 fighting Germany and GH-Bukhara...Some others had unusually high inflation, mine is still closer to 10 percent than 5 percent before the Wars... Fact is this, so many nations have unusually high inflation even still due to the Wars and Zero deflations:

10% isn't a game breaker if you have Infra5. Only Catholics are getting more than 1 Colonist a year, I get 1.8 or something like that after some Free Trade Events... Right now as it stands North Africa isn't going to be a Power in the African Region, add yourself in a shipyard 2 colonists would be more than me. I wouldn't mind editing them in a Conquistidor, I have had my first 1 just the last session of this game and if it wasn't for skillful game play wouldn't have more than 4 Colonies on the entire map. They have the ability to stretch across Africa, into 50 Provinces. It's a Fixer Upper, that was well known from the beginning. It is never going to be made into an Uber Power, but Neither are 6-7-8 of the rest of us... you can only expect so much from it

BTW: I took a personal look at the North African situation. She has two Major Problems, she will be in direct contact with Scotland and Sicily warring over what she feels belongs to her. She has explored enough land and deserves no conquistidor at all! She has the chance with some Edits of being a STRONG nation

I'll say despite her lack of Manpower, she has some Leaders that I'd die for right at this moment and could go on a rampage. I'm worried about introducing her, but maybe it would balance out some of the rapid colonialism in Africa

Another thing, her Cores on the Sicilian Capitol and Island are I feel too harsh on Sicily and should be removed

So heres a sum up of the changes the players accorded to concerning NA :

- Infrastructure tech built up to 5 ; same for trade tech
- Naval tech built to 11 and a shipyard in order for NA to be able to colonize a bit
- 2000 ducats as some cash
- inflation reduced to 0
- 20 warships ;a 25/15/20 army
- a refinery in Aures
- a conq and a explorer

I just took a quick look at North Africa. to fix them up a bit I would:

- Infrastructure to 5 - Same as all other nations
- Trade Tech to 5 - ditto
- Fine Arts Academy in Capital
- 1 Refinery in player's choice of province - They currently have 2 but pretty much everyone has a bunch.
- Inflation to 20 - About the average for surrounding nations
- Mayors and bailiffs in place
- d500 in bank
- 10 dp clicks
- Their last conquistador (if any) reincarnated. If no conq then ces't la vie.
- A house rule that if North Africa is AI'd again within the next 3 sessions then it is fair game :p

... just my .02 cents

Well, Drew's been saying I'm uber for so long that rather than fight him, I might as well just embrace it and go on a murderous rampage to deprive germany, sicily, and milan of their colonies. I've restricted myself so far, if people want me to be uber, then uber they'll get.

.... We get Scotland to come out of it's closet and embracing it's sweet Uberness and Johan went and added a nice crossing to England. Talk about bad timing!

So be it tabarnak! C'est la vie, if everyone agreeing we could start talking of things more important than giving gifts to those africans :) BTW future NA player, I'm interested in your pyramids in Egypt for 350 ducats.

Thanks for the added suggestions Dave, however now someone needs to implement these edits as well as some others.

Golden Horde had decided to buy Belle Isle and Biloxi in North America so far noone else has bidded on these provinces so they're sold
