Leon

All hail Prince-Regent Bocaj :D

It appears that my regent has done wonderfully well for the people of Leon, positioning it in the first ranks of powers, and leaving it secure within its borders,with allies. Unfortunately for Leon, the rightful monarch, the occasionally sane King TAF is now in one of his semi-lucid periods, and will take over the reins of power. Wait--why are all the peasants leaving Leon???

See you tonight. Would one of my allies let me in on the big plans hatched previously??

MIA Status

Sorry for being MIA guys but I had some unexpected work related stuff come up last week and worked all weekend. I finally got everything worked out yesterday finally. I see that there may be a replacement for me in North Africa, which is fine. However, if you guys want me to continue in that country I would be happy too.

Also, if my spot is already taken, just let me know and I can sub for future games.

BTW, I know that my job will require me to be out of town the week of 8/17 also, but thats next month.

Just sound off and I will either be there or not this evening

Damn corruption :D (Doubled inflation this session without minting a single month).

Good things: Lot of conversions succeeded. A couple of new provinces, some new vassals.
Bad things: We can't trade and our income is basically the same as the beginning of the session.
(And we our explorer only discovered 2 provinces before he died :)

Ah, and Golden Horde conquered some orthodox provinces. That is a bad thing too.

Another fun session last night :) ... now I have to wait a whole week to play again though :(

Inflation: Those events are rather nasty. I still haven't had any this game but I've hit a few in a fun SP game. Overall I don't mind the higher inflation. If we had deflation events thrown in, it would be a bummer to watch other countries inflation drop like a stone whilst my Muscovy is shut out of the good deflations (as it always happens to me) :D
Perhaps some minor deflation events (-1/-2 deflation?) rather than the big whopping -5 ones would spice up the event file nicely.

Overall, the high inflation should be good for the game. Hopefully it will slow down the tech race a bit and in the long run, we'll all have governors one day so it will come down.

If you want to slow down teching then why don't we all just get bumped down to Muslim?

The problem is that nations like Leon or Byz or Sicily will be disadvantaged long term vs. nations such as Muscovy simply because they got in a loop of corruption events, accruing inflation that won't go down until they reach infra 5 sometime in the 16th century. I guarantee that by infra 5 time we'll have some nations with 25 inflation and some with 5, and it will have absolutely nothing to do with play style or skill. If you don't want to have deflation events that's absolutely fine, if people mint they'll have to take the consequences, but we shouldn't still get INflation events!

Worried about Self

I am worried---I think I tend to agree with Specterx on this one, but am not sure how we are going to go about curing the problem. If we want all the deflation events out, we should probably also remove all the random inflation events, so that inflation is solely the result of our decisions to mint and not random bad luck. Although, including both deflation and inflation events doesn't negate the luck factor, as you could be unlucky enough to get lots of inflation random events and no deflation random events. :(

I am not overly worked up about it though.

IMHO, the idea of not having deflation events is good, but the problem is random unavoidable inflation (one of the events, not sure if it is the only one, allows you to choose between +5 or +3 inflation, not a bad event per se, but for the unfortunate fact that the RNG is not perfect, so countries can suffer that event a lot).

I propose then that the inflationary event got a choice with no inflation but more costly (although the +3 inflation event already got several bad effects, my poor king was twice reduce to a 1-1-1 non entity :D)

This is pretty much where I stand about it, though I'm not sure the headache of forcing everyone to redownload the file is worth it. Besides, anything that causes Spec to whine obstinately can't be all that bad, can it? :D

What sort of negative effects should the no-inflation option give? For convenience, here's the original event:

Code:
[color=white]
event = {
	id = 2000178
	random = yes
	trigger = { ai = no }
	name = "Corruption"
	desc = "There is significant corruption within your government. You must decide how to deal with this problem."
	style = 1
	action_a = {
		name = "Ignore the corruption"
		command = { type = inflation value = 5 }
		command = { type = infra value = -250 }
		command = { type = trade value = -250 }
		}

	action_b = {
		name = "Replace key members of the government"
		command = { type = ADM which = -5 value = 18 }
		command = { type = MIL which = -5 value = 18 }
		command = { type = DIP which = -5 value = 18 }
		command = { type = stability value = -1 }
		command = { type = inflation value = 3 }
		command = { type = infra value = -100 }
		command = { type = trade value = -100 }
		}
}

The original corruption event was/is fine by me. Or if you want to keep this event kicking around perhaps reduce the inflation hit to +2 for the big one and +1 for the little one.

... Not that big a deal pour moi either way :)

LiffordovIII.jpg
Liffordov III "The Explorer" (1467-1490)

The career of Liffordov III was, for the most part, a peaceful one. The focus of this able advisor to the Tsar was that of exploration and overseas empire. He was responsible for dispatching that noted Russian explorer, Elizeer, westward across the Atlantic ocean. Iceland was colonized as was Acadie. Russian colonies and trading posts were founded in a few other key locations in the New World.

Due to the colonial focus though, the economy of the Muscovite Kingdom stagnated. The Tsar was always demanding that a theatre be built in the capital but funds for this frivolous bauble were always lacking.

Under the tutelige of Liffordov III, three provinces converted to the Orthodox faith and alliances were concluded with the vassal states of Hungary, Beloruss, and the kingdom of Sweden and Polostk. Constant diplomatic bungling by the Tsar (Dmitry V 5/5/9) however, hampered the increase in good relations within the Muscovite Alliance.

Near the end of his career, Liffordov III embarked on a rather ambitious war in Scandinavia against the age old Russian foe, Norway. After a three year war in the snow, four provinces were added to the Muscovite Empire.

At his death, Liffordov III left the Empire in an unstable peace.

Long live the Tsar!
