Well, I`m not complaining or anything but isn`t it just a little bit strange that I already received 9 weapon manufactories through random events within only 200 years? Looking at the map I currently own 90% of all the manufactories in Europe (that`s 9 of 10 for the not-so-fast-minded) :)

Hmmm...I can recall having similar luck in earlier patches, but not so far in 1.03. In fact, I heard a rumour that this random event was going away in 1.03 - although it does not explain why I am seeing Spain with 4 weapons manufacturies before 1500!

Seems like an element that still could use some tweeking.

I've never had that event but my neighbours seem to get them all the time. Even when I played a Dakota game one of my neighbours got them. I wonder if it could have something to do with lagging behind in research compared to neighbours? Because as France I was 3 techs ahead of anyone and my neighbours got manufactories like crazy while I got none.

For the time being, you can get rid of both free manufactory events (and the devastating fire one, if you wish) by deleting them in the randomevents.txt file. Things will still work fine, and you won't see this type of thing happening.

I've seen some countries (France, England) get four or five weapons manufactories before 1500, which is crazy.

Edit: Note that by changing the file, further patches to the game won't update it. Keep a backup if you go this route.

Eh....

It is placed in the bug-forum but I`m not sure it belongs here as
I have 1.02 patch!
It could be that it was already fixed for 1.03, that`s why I didn`t saw it as a bug but more like an attraction.;)

No, don't worry, it's still in 1.03 as well. I played 3 full GC's in 1.03 now, and they are being dealt out like crazy, but it's always a weapon manufactory as well, even though the event says "gain a manufactory in <....>", isn't it supposed to hand out refineries (what's this with it being called a brewery everywhere I look except when I build the thing itself btw..?) and naval manufactories etc as well?

That would add some nice randomizing, just weapon factories is silly.

Yep, strange thing was that with 1.01 ONLY AI received such events while with 1.02 ONLY I do (or at least the most).

actually I heard they where removing it and the plague event in the next patch, but they are both still in the game. I was playing as Poland in the GC and by the time I researched far enough to get refineries I had no where left I could build them
it was very frustrating especially being I was playing it as a naval power instead of a land power :D

I had been wondering about those early weapons manufactories... then, just last night, got one in the late 1400s as Portugal -- and it was in the Canary Islands!

Yes, the placement of those manufactories seems a problem to me too. I played as Poland and received all the weapon-manufactories in my poor grain-producing eastern provinces.

Too much weapons manufacturies

Hello,

In my current game (patch 1.03), France has two weapons manufacturies (in provinces that don't produce iron or cupper) by 1460. That way, it has army level 5 while nearly everybody else only has 3. I think one shouldn't be able to get so much free manufacturies.

Greetings,
Jan

France already seems to have a very good technological development, in particular of land-technology so perhaps you overestimated the role of weapon-manufactories. And I suppose you`re not playing France? Otherwise it`s only logical as player is always better in technological development han AI.

No,

I'm Brandenburg with level 4 land-technology and a lot of countries have still level 2.
I agree that France has a better technological development in land-technology, but it's still somewhat unfair to have already two weapons manufacturies by 1460, isn't it? It does give them lots of advantages.

I`m rather suprised that you`re not the one to get all the weapon-manufactories. But well, you have 1.03...

As for me, I removed the 'manufactory gained' and 'manufactory burned down' events from the random events file as soon as I started seeing the weapons manufactories popping up like mushrooms in Eire, goblins or not... :D

Free is too cheap

Looks to me that Paradox needs to change free manufactory events into some way to build a discounted manufactory in your home region. It would also be nice if there were a way to replace an unwanted manufactory. No reason why you can't change your provincial economy from wineries to more industrial pursuits.
