Embers and Ruins

The look was horrifying. Nadera was once the city of Charlotte. The city was the heart of the war in North America, and thus the most badly affected. She had read various stories and reports and heard various testimonies but looking at it first hand. She was in awe at the destruction. She had a picture in her phone of the old city versus what the city looked like now and the difference could not be summed up as night and day.

Looking at this broken and ruined city was nothing like the shining and glistening city that was seen in her picture. She looked around the area and looked at the relief effort, the vast refugee camps nearby that filled dozens of families and wounded. The city was being slowly reclaimed, the smell of phosphorus and cordite now filled the air as if it had been there since the days of the city's founding. As she stepped up towards the city she stepped in something in the mud.

She thought it was a landmine and swiftly began to panic until she realized that no explosion had gone off. When she lifted her feet she saw a ruined notebook sitting in the mud. She picked it up and tried to brush off the notebook in the hopes of reading who wrote it. The name was obscured and ruined. The notebook seemed to be a diary or journal, but most pages were completely ruined. All but one, she read the only clear and visible entry in the book.

Where the Graves lie
That broken city will be seared in my mind,
A monument a living hell for all,
Let it stand forever more in ruin,
A city once named after queens,
Beauty and grace once adorned her streets,
The Wounded broken and battered lie,
Cover her streets like shards of jewelry,
She is now the goddess of the underworld the goddess of death,
And within her broken and battered streets,

Is where the graves lie.

She shuddered reading this entry. She grabbed the entry and folded it into her pocket and took the notebook with her. She looked at the city of Charlotte, and had fully realized the cost of this war.

‘Let this be the last world war’ she muttered to herself.

UCA Soldiers Marching in occupied Nashville

North American Theater
The KNH stands at the brink as four forces rapidly close in. In this act of desperation the KNH will do anything to pull out atleast a favorable peace in order to survive. The KNH Military command issued an offensive against the NANR in the north with whatever resources they had left. The offensive would catch the NANR off guard and result in some territory lost. This minor offensive however would completely break the will of the NANR army.

By the end of May the NANR army would refuse to fight no more. Desertions would be widespread within the NANR even among the highest ranks of the Army. The NANR congress would meet with diplomats from the League of Nations and would halt all offensives and pushes into the KNH. For all intents and purposes the war was finally over for the NANR with nearly two million casualties being the price it would have to pay for this brutal conflict.

WCC Militia forces would rapidly push for territories in the north to catch KNH forces flat footed. This would be followed by a UCA takeover of Former NANR frontlines and would retake the initiative in the north. The KNH would attempt another offensive but this would ultimately kill the KNH. Army elements within the KNH would see a civil war break out causing massive confusion on the frontlines. The KNH Rebels would ally with League forces and the offensive would continue once more.

A desperate plea of reason would be made to the KNH high command in New Jerusalem, but all calls of peace would be silent when it came to New Jerusalem. The KNH high command would issue a last ditch defense of New Jerusalem and the loyalist army within the KNH would retreat en masse to New Jerusalem. With the League forces rapidly closing in on New Jerusalem until their combined armies surrounded New Jerusalem. After a short bombardment The KNH would surrender and the war in North America would finally end on November the 11th.

ECW Civil war leaked footage

European Theater
GSU forces stood ready for a future offensive against the European Commonwealth, Intel from the cryptology department indicated a mass mobilization on the frontline and mass build up. On the day of the invasion the frontline was silent, and no movements were made. New finally broke out of a coup within the High Marshal Council that resulted in a massive change of policy. The new Council immediately made peace overtures as quickly as possible. In a rush the League of Nations agreed for the moment, and quickly a peace was made with the European Commonwealth.

This resulted in a Civil War breaking across the European Commonwealth. Commissariats that backed War would fight against Commissariats that backed peace. The High Marshall council was for a time under siege. The European Commonwealth would send a delegate during the chaos to represent the nation during this time of Crisis.

Following the collapse of the Socialist States of Asia and some minor missions to occupy the region by various nations most would pull out of the region. China following its promise would immediately hold a national convention to determine the future of the nations constitution and all military forces would pull back into Chinese territory and act in a defensive manner. The Factionalism would sometimes spill over into China and would promptly get beaten back with minimal to no losses.

The GSU pulled back into their territory to consolidate and bring order into their reclaimed lands. However all hell broke loose when the Oceanic Federation moved into the broken and fractured territories in an all out invasion. They rapidly moved into the area and began securing ports, and harbours and quickly gaining a foothold and moving inland. International backlash faced the OCF, but the President of the OCF said that they were merely there to bring order to the area.

New Jerusalem Peace Conference November 15th 2104

The New Jerusalem Peace Conference
The peace conference would go on for a month, and the now infamous Nadeera al-Shareef would join the peace conference from the need for a neutral mediator. The peace conference would go back and forth for what seemed like days, until finally on December 15th a peace treaty was announced. The following changes would occur:

  • The Kingdom of New Heaven is to formally be dissolved and no longer a national entity.
  • The Kingdom of New Heaven is to be occupied into four regions overseen by the NANR, UCA, USM, & WCC.
  • The GSU is to annex the entirety of the Stalin Commissariat.
  • The AFN is to annex the entirety of the Umayyad Commissariat.
  • The ECW is to pay war reparations totalling an amount to be mutually agreed upon in a future conference with the League of Nations.

The SSA was not involved in such matters due to the complete collapse of their nation during the war. However this has not stopped Nadeera al-Shareef from pushing for the region to be looked after with an international coalition tasked with bringing order and peace instead of an all out invasion from the OCF.

The Union of Territories Accord
During the last stages of the war, in a surprise to many the AFN would join the UTA with much noise and fanfare. The AFN president Zamani Sihle that oversaw the war for the north led this push into joining the UTA. He would push for fellow members in the Space League to join the UTA. Following the AFN’s membership rapidly many other nations would join. The NANR would join not long after peace was declared. The Chinese Republic would join as well, despite still ironing out their future constitution. Following this, members in the Internationale agreed that peace would be better than more war and the WCC and FTA would join the UTA, next the UCA and the ECW would join the UTA. The OCF and the UNA would be the only holdouts from the UTA.

This massive surge of membership caught not only Nadeera al-Shareef but the UTA as well. This massive movement of membership would now fully cement the UTA as a Geopolitical entity that no one could possibly ignore. In the twilight days of 2104 the General Assembly would hold a vote assembly to vote in various members into the organization. The first vote held would involve the office of Administrative-General. The vote came as no surprise to many. Nadera al-Shareef was voted into office following no other members wishing to join the ballot. With Nadera al-Shareef voted as the first Administrative-General in the UTA she immediately began helping carve her vision of what the UTA is to become.

That poem is absolutely heartbreaking.

Nice to know that Earth is finally almost completely united... Now, we can get started with the actual Stellaris game portion...

Of course, wars with other space nations will be a thing, and they'll be much worse than world wars...

So just a heads up, the next entry is going to take some time. I have a new job thats been wonky for me, but hopefully once I get on my normal schedule and not my training schedule i can get some stuff done. That and theres the Protesting and stuff going on which has also been taking up my time.

If everyone is ok with it I can make the next entry really big with lots of stuff in it to make up for the lost time!

Day by day, we drift closer to this reality! :p

WESTAND.png

1st al-Shareef Administration

Nadera Al-shareef in office.png

Nadera al-Shareef in Office 2106

Nadera al-Shareef would take the reins of the UTA during perhaps the most crucial period of its existence. The post war devastation of the world had caused massive chaos and led to further issues that would need to be resolved almost immediately. Within North America the torching of the Oil Fields had spread throughout the south and caused a massive wildfire. The war had also led to a massive famine both in North America and the broken and fractured Southern Asia. A massive Civil War broke out in the European Commonwealth that could threaten to spill over into neighbouring countries and even lead to worse. The Oceanic Federation was invading South East Asia which would only sow more chaos and instability.

The Final Foundation of the UTA
With Nadera able to become the first A-G she was able to finalize her vision of the Structure of the UTA. The Organization would be similarly modeled after the United Nations, with various differences.

General Assembly: The General Assembly functions as a global democratic assembly of nations. The Assembly functions much like the Senate to a Republic form of Government. Members within the GA are largely composed of either elected or appointed officials. The GA votes on a wide variety of issues that vary. However the primary goal of the GA is Legislative in nature.

Judicial Council: The Judicial Council is another body, however it is composed of a council of Judges that are also elected or appointed by various nations. The Judicial Council will make landmark international decisions. All proposals will be thoroughly analyzed by the Council of Judges to ensure that they violate no agreed upon rights and morals. In opposition to the UN the Judicial Council of the UTA is binding to all members, and is enshrined in the Charter of the UTA.

Global Co-operative Council: The Global Co-operative Council is a body that oversees the various extra tasks and departments not considered an essential body to the UTA. The Global Co-operative Council currently seeks to foster better ties with nations and better stability. Within the Global Co-operative Council they can form Sub-Councils. The Sub-Councils are meant to be specialized councils focused on specific tasks to better accomplish said tasks.

Administrative-Council: The Administrative Council can largely be thought of as the Executive body within the UTA. The Administrative-General can veto any proposal in the UTA, and has the ability to proposal laws, policies, and declaration. The Administrative-General can also, under an emergency, form an Emergency Security Council Session. The ESCS can only be formed when the General Assembly, and the Global Co-operative council agree that the world is in a Crisis. The Global Co-operative Council or the General Assembly or even the administrative-council can bring up a Crisis to the UTA.

However, the Crisis measures must be approved by all three. If all three votes have passed then the ESCS is formed from three nations most qualified to deal with the issue(s). The A-C carries out the day to day tasks of the UTA as well and largely comprises the organizations bureaucracy. To remove the A-G a process of Impeachment must be carried out to investigate if the current A-G is a threat to Peace & Stability. The General Assembly will vote, and the Judicial Council will move to convict and carry out sentencing.

First Steps
Nadera al-Shareef was swift in her actions in office. The moment she came into office she immediately pushed to form the Emergency Security Council Session under the Crisis pretext of Post-War Stability. The proposal would also pass just as swiftly and soon the first ESCS would form. Nadera would appoint The African Federation of Nations, the Union of Citizens Alliance, and the Republic of China to oversee this extraordinary crisis.

Within the ESCS the AFN would oversee the Global Famine Crisis, the Republic of China would try to help with the massive humanitarian effort in North America and in Europe, and the UCA would conduct intensive peacekeeping operations in Southern Asia and hopefully change the OCF’s invasion. The OCF was outraged that they were not allowed to oversee Peacekeeping Operations within South Asia and dismissed the UTA’s operations in the area.

This had caused multiple skirmishes and multiple scuffles with the UCA and OCF. Ultimately these issues would come to a head when the UCA destroyer “Guadalupe” was sunk and the sailors left in the water. The UCA outraged by this ultimately issued an Ultimatum to the OCF to stand down from all operations in the area or they will see a total retribution from the UCA.Nadera watched these events unfold and pushed the Global Co-operative Council to issue whatever sanctions they could on the OCF and hopefully put pressure on the OCF without leading to another war.

The Longest Week (2106)
The Long Week as it was called, was a demand from the UCA for the OCF to pull out of the peacekeeping area by the end of the week. During the Longest Week Nadera would do whatever she could to avoid another war breaking out so soon from what the Press had popularly spun as “The Final World War”. Nadera met with whatever officials she could in the limited timespan and pushed for whatever concessions she could in the time.

During the Longest Week however, a sudden movement of a Neo-Wahhabist movement would erupt and the movement quickly spilled over into the nearby nations. When the movement spilled over into the UNA, their worst fears of a destabilizing presence cropping up once again in the Middle East had come true. The UNA would join the UTA and quickly mobilize against this growing Wahhabist tide.

The GSU, and the Republic of China had quickly quelled rebellions in their area, and the uprising had ended as quickly as it had begun. This uprising would ultimately turn the opinions of the nations that had to deal with this against the OCF, and after the threats of a massive Coalition to go to war against the OCF if they did not pull out. Ultimately the OCF relented and halted all invasions and began a campaign to pull out of Asia. The International world was angry at the OCF for its behaviour during this crisis, but the OCF would ignore them.

Texan Wildfires 2105

American Wildfires
The Wildfires that came from sabotaging the Texan Oil Fields, and from not being able to stop it due to the war, would spiral into the biggest ecological disaster in North America since the Great Nuclear War. The Billowing smoke and ashes from the wildfires in the area would have a disastrous effect of kicking up highly radioactive soot and ash into the atmosphere once more quickly turning into a mini-Nuclear winter.

To make matters worse the wildfires would ultimately be carried north towards the Occupied territories of the former KNH. This spiraled into a religious crisis within Occupied territories. The new Heaven Religion had now become split on if this was either a Sign that God was angry at them for losing, or a sign that God had abandoned them and a reformation would need to be done to please god. Reformers began assembling in Churches and Communities, while radicals would begin terrorist cells and begin trying to break free.

A massive Chinese humanitarian aid effort in the area would manage to curtail, and begin to push back against the wildfires by the end of 2106. The wildfires would finally end by the year 2107 and soon the ash and soot in the atmosphere would dissipate. After the wildfires were finally ended the Chinese Government was widely applauded for its efforts in helping restore the area to normal.

NANR National Final World War Memorial & Cemetery
NANR Military Dismantling
The NANR would go through a process that would, in practice, abolish the Military within the NANR. The announcement of this was met with a mix of reactions ranging from Skepticism to mockery. However within the NANR itself this move was seen as a justice for the nearly 2 million casualties suffered from the War. This catastrophic loss of life in the war would result in major changes within the NANR, such as the massive surgency of a Neo-Dadaist movement. Rates of depression and suicide skyrocketed in the country. The announcement of the Military Abolishment was almost Unanimous and the initiative began almost immediately. The NANR Military Occupation Zones would be transferred over to the UCA’s control. The NANR would also sell all military Munitions and equipment to various foreign nations. The NANR pledged to have no more military personnel by the end of the decade.

ECW soldiers drops into a LZ

European Commonwealth Civil War
The European Commonwealth would be torn by a civil war. The war broke out when the Marshalls pushing for peace would coup the Marshall Council and force peace. The Factions were largely split in half by the primary issue of Militarism. The Marshalls that called for peace largely believed that military actions could no longer be viable in the world following the Final World War. The Marshalls that were against it believed that the ECW needed to enact revenge for the lost territory and men from the Final World War, and believed that Wars were still essential to the state's survival.

The War would be firmly one sided as much of the international community would back the Faction that supported peaceful actions. By the end of the year 2108 the war would end and a massive plan to rebuild the nation would begin. The newly victorious government would receive massive subsidies and international loans & aid in rebuilding efforts. From this help the ECW would rapidly bounce back from the civil war and would begin making itself more stable, and putting itself firmly on the Geo-Political stage.

NANR Citizens waiting in line for their Food Rations
Global Famine
The Famines would begin around 2103, but the worst of the Famines would kick off post war and would hit its peak during 2106 when nearly 5-10 million people were estimated to die from starvation or malnutrition both on Earth and in the outer-space Colonies. Following the creation of the ESCS the AFN gave massive amounts of food for immediate aid, and would give nations Radiation resistant crops that the AFN had managed to fully master. In North America Radiation resistant Corn would result in an explosion of the once common cornfields across the American Midwest.

The AFN would push for the Global Co-operative Council to create a Food Bank Council. The Food Bank Council would work under a model of “Give What you Can” with the hope that should another Famine occur then a nation could Loan food from the FBC. The AFN by the year 2110 would have exported nearly a million tons of food during the whole famine crisis.

Space League integration into the UTA
The AFN would bring a Proposal to the Space League that would turn it into a Sub-Council under the UTGCC, and would hopefully foster friendly space travel relations. The Proposal was passed by a majority and the plan to integrate the Space League into the UTGCC would finally be complete by the year 2111. The integration of the Space League into the GCC was supported by Nadera al-Shareef herself and believed that it could even help boost space technological growth and colonization.

Greater Slavic Union Hate Crimes
Shortly after the Final World War the citizens of the GSU started a series of Hate crimes towards ECW sympathizers and anyone not deemed “Slavic”. When word reached the administration of the GSU, the GSU applauded the efforts and even encouraged it such as the landmark case of Gennadiyevich. GEnnadiyevich was a soldier in the ECW that fought as a high ranking officer in the ECW. He was lynched by an entire town that all celebrated his death. In the court case the entire town was found not guilty of the crime.

When word broke out The ECW was angry and began making demands and threats to the GSU to end these hate crimes. The GSU in return ignored them citing ECW hate crimes in former ECW occupied territories. The international community largely shunned the GSU however, as the Hate Crimes seemed to grow and grow each passing day.

The End of the 1st ESCS
By the year 2110 much of the worst crises across the world had finally gotten under control. Nadera al-Shareef would announce that the 1st ESCS was a major success and would formally end the 1st ESCS on November 3rd 2110. She believed that this massive success would hopefully be a model for all future A-C’s for generations to come. After this crisis Nadera largely began a period of what was called “Gliding” as she took a much more passive role in politics. She was largely doing this as the stress of the first 5 years of her administration was beginning to affect her with reports of anxiety and depression leaking to the public at large. Combined with a growing suspicion that the UTA and Nadera are growing too powerful too quickly.

Her last 5 years in office would relegate her to become a rubber stamp for the General Assembly. This ultimately quelled the suspicions and would grow trust of the UTA between member nations.

Unity Space Station Complete 2110

The Completion of the Solar Shipyard, Unity Station
2110 would see the completion of the Unity Station. The Unity Station is a permanent space borne station with dedicated Space-borne shipyards. This station is the first one of its kind. The Unity Station is estimated to save potential billions on the construction of Space based Craft. Upon its creation Nadera al-Shareef herself attended the inauguration of the Station. The construction of this station is largely considered to be the greatest engineering feat in Human history.

South East Asia Stabilizes
After years of peacekeeping operations in South East Asia, the area had finally begun to stabilize by late 2111. With the region finally stable a series of votes would determine the future of regions located in the region. Pakistan and Afghanistan would be integrated into the Union of Arabia. India and some of its surrounding territories would form the Free Communes of Asia, a Anarchist collection of Communes. Burma, and other southeast Asian nations would form the Asian Federation.

Portside View of Earth by the 4th Cipactonal Mision
Accidental Discovery of FTL, the FTL Race is on
In 2110 a cargo ship on a routine cargo hauling mission had accidentally slammed into a remote area of Mars. While the impact caused no damage to colonials or colonial efforts on Mars the mission had caused massive intrigue. When the Ships blackbox was recovered it was reported that the Cargo hauler had made a trip from Earth to Mars in less than a day, a feat usually taking more than a week of travel. More investigations into the wreckage and recordings within the ship had conclusively discovered that the Cargo Ship had accidentally stumbled across a mini-worm hole. When knowledge of this reached the Scientific Community a massive surgence into the Science of Faster-Than-Light travel had begun.

Scientists across the world began looking into files and recordings of the ship and began experimenting with test drives of their own. Many of these test drives would fail spectacularly, but with each failure much more tangible strides into FTL drives were being reached. The Achievement of Probe 5235A-34SFV where it was able to travel to a distance of about 300 Miles in 30 minutes had proved to the world at large that Faster Than Light drives were viable.

Corporations began to spring up around this singular hypothetical device. The Kover-Samolet Corporation would make great strides in this area of research managing to create a stabilization drive that would allow for Wormholes to last on average an hour longer than a FTL drive without it. The Hermes Corporation would also make great strides in navigational computational components, and increasing the overall accuracy of these FTL drives. The Corporation able to finally put together much of these achievements into one practical drive was the Mex-spacial Corporation. Their invention of the Quetzalcoatl Drive by the year 2113 was considered the largest success in the field of Science and Engineering since the creation of Jet Planes.

Many tests and probes would finalize and refine the Quetzalcoatl Drive, until finally a Crew of Mexican Scientists would participate in the first ever human trial of the Drive. The 4th Cipactonal Misión was a massive success as the Crew of Mexican Scientists managed to reach Pluto from earth and back in the time span of a Week. This success turned the Crew of the 4th Cipactonal Mision into household names, akin to Neil Armstrong. Abril Valentina was considered the new Neil Armstong of this brave future of space travel, and she would become a local celebrity in her hometown of Las Varas, Nayarit.

With the 1st successful live mission of a FTL drive by the year 2113, Faster than Light Travel was officially viable. The creation of this drive led to a whole new avenue of possibilities as stars that were thought of being unfeasible to even visit were practically on Earth's doorstep.

The next story entry is going to start out the Stellaris game, it might take some time for various reasons but I will nonetheless try my best to post a story within my lifetime xF
Next post is going to be a couple of behind the scenes stuff about How im going to tackle the game and the various methods and ideas I have for the AAR game.

Earth is stable now.

To the stars we go.

Also, how does a craft going at 600 miles/hour prove FTL is possible? The speed of light is over 670 million miles/hour...

Behind the Scenes & Game Set up
Tackling how to play a decentralized organization of nations has been more than a bit of a issue in implementation. I've been looking at this from various avenues and methods of handling this and I think i've figured this out.

1: Electoral Politics
So the primary concern was handling Democracy and elections in the game in a meaningful way. It took me a while to think of how to do this when the answer literally was in front of my face the entire time: Federations. So within Federations as many of you are aware, within the Galactic Community there is an Election chart comprised of For, Against, and Abstain. So for election im going to use a similar chart to better set up how these elections pan out. I will give each nation various "Voting weight" measured by the following chart, and other laws and policies passed during the AAR.

UTAElectoralweight.png

The other idea I had for mechanical implementation that would mock story development is again taken from Federations. Federations themselves have Laws and Policies locked behind centralization requirements. So for electoral weight I figured it would make things more interesting to have that tied into the UTA's Centralization. It also will have a story effect, as laws that are denied under low or minimal centralization might get easily passed under medium to high centralization. These laws are based off of elections. I will be posting this along side the main story, and basically Green = current policy, and Grey means unlocked. These policies will need to be voted on and passed for it to come into political effect. So there could very well be no changes and it stays as the first electoral type.

Moving on to centralization it will be measured by the following chart:

UTA Chart.png

Centralization wont be like Voting Weight. Once that Ascension perk is picked for that level of Centralization, the UTA is that level of Centralization. For the fun part of this, when eventually the UTA hits the final stage of Centralization: Unification it will become an entirely new nation mimicking those in majority power. This will have various causes, and effects of course, but essentially any nation and or political party with a sufficient enough popularity or even enough voting power will turn the UTA into a nation to mimic their ethos. This should make things more interesting down the line for the story.

So of course, the main question is "How are you supposed to know who votes for who?" Well, just like above I have a Handy-dandy chart!

NationalInterests.png

This is a list of each nation. The list also includes public, & private goals. The idea being each nation will want to accomplish both goals as much as possible. I blacked out the private goals because those are going to be more interesting story plots, & because I think it would be more interesting to have everyone guess as to what their private goals are. As votes are made they will push to accomplish their goals through various means and methods.

Leaders Chart.png

Last but not least is the leaders chart. Again all of these charts will be in the next story entry and this is mostly for an explanation as to why i've been silent for so long. I plan on running a test game, and once thats done I will have the story ready. I might post an entry here and there depending on how I feel about it.

Union Of Territories Accord.png

Here is the gameplay chart of the Union itself. I know in story entries I used a "greener" earth but I mainly did that to meet with the story itself. The reason I went for the Ethics and Civics I did is because the UTA is an Organization, not a nation. I went for the more traditional Mammalian Shiptype because its got a rougher aesthetic to it, more utilitarian look to it. As for ingame representation of leaders, thats going to be a bit tricky. There is a work around I have that will show up in the next story entry, but basically the Capital sector Governor is going to be the Speaker of the House.

Ad Astra Per Aspera

Nadera coughed into her handkerchief. Her coughs have been getting more and more common, and more and more violent. She decided that at first chance, she would see a doctor about this. However the discovery of FTL had made things more complicated for Nadera, and for the UTA as a whole. She had an appointment with representatives from North America any moment now. Soon political representatives from Mexico, the NANR, and a commune delegate from the WCC would arrive.

“Welcome!” She said. “Please sit, sit.”

The representatives took a seat in the council chambers.

The representative from Mexico, Delfina Sanz, spoke “This new headquarters is.. Muy bellisimo.”

The representative from the UCA, Vera Nogueira spoke “I agree. This headquarters is impressive..”

The delegate from the commune sat down in a chair, Atticus Rhodes, spoke next. “This chair, it was made from the Commune yes?” He said.

“A keen eye! Yes it was, we decided that in the UTA headquarters we should try to have as much representation as possible when it came to the design.” Nadera waited a minute then spoke. “Ok, now to business. What I brought you all here for is to discuss the future of the Occupied territories of North America.”

Delfina spoke first. “The territories will be occupied until further notice Nadera.”

“The territory has been occupied for nearly a decade, surely further occupation is unnecessary.” Nadera said.

Atticus spoke next. “The area has been occupied for too long. We are not fascists, we should pull out of the region and give them independence.”

Vera followed up “Independence? Then what? Suffer through another war?”

Atticus scoffed, “Of course the fascist would defend occupation.”

Vera was offended by the comment, she began to speak until Nadera interrupted her. “Please, we are all civil here. There's no need to argue. This has no political motive between nations but is a means to ending a future conflict in the area. You have heard of the religious reforms in the area have you not?”

Delfina spoke “I’ve read the reports. There seems to be a scuffle between reformists and non-reformists. I am afraid that if we pull out of the area and the reformists fail to the non-reformists we may have another inferno on our hands. Worse than before.”

“From my reports however, it seems that occupation is actually strengthening the Non-reformist cause. We do believe that if you pull out of the area it could actually strengthen the Reformist cause and hopefully halt any violence.” Nadera said.

“We can’t just up and leave. We need a more staggered approach. That way to if there is to be another war in the region we can just sweep back into the region no problem.” Vera spoke.

“Do you always have to think of everything as some sort of military operation? These aren’t insurgents. These are people” Atticus said pointing their hand on the table to emphasize the point. “I also highly doubt that the Zionists would want to engage in another war given how disastrous the last one was for them and how they ended up occupied for ten years. We’ve all but uprooted any possible chance for an uprising in the area. At this point our occupation is turning from just mutual wishes of a peace, to a colonialist control of the region. Even if the rest of you do not agree to pull out, I can rest assured that once I leave the headquarters I will convince the commune militia to head home.” Atticus said.

Nadera looked over at Vera “He does have a point.”

Vera sat back in her chair in silence.

“I think that Vera was on the right point earlier. We should maybe focus on a more staggered approach towards pulling out. From what Atticus said with them pulling out we could wait and see what happens when the commune pull out of the area. We could give it a three month wait, then if there isn't any major effect in the area we could start pulling out immediately.” Delfina said.

Vera let go of her more aggressive stance and moved to a more interested stance. Nadera smiled at the sight of this.

“Then I think this is in agreement. So the commune will pull out, we observe for a period of 90 days, then if no major insurgency breaks out within that time frame or anything else of note the rest of us pull out.” Nadera laid out.

“We agree” Delfina said.

“We agree” Atticus said.

“We… Agree” Vera said.

“Great! Then I will work on drafting an official document so that we ca-” Nadera began coughing heavily and soon began feeling weary.

“Are you ok?” Atticus said.

“Y-yea I'm fine, just a cold is all.”

Vera spoke “Are you sure? Last time I checked a cold doesn't cause you to cough up blood!”

Nadera looked at her hand and was shocked to see what Vera had said, blood was heavy on her palms.

AEMS Alcubierre enroute to Tau Ceti 1.12.2115
The year 2115 would become an important year. The discovery of Faster-Than-Light Travel the year prior with the help of the Quetzlcoatl Drive meant that stars which would take years to reach were now able to be reached within days. This year would be the turning point as the Scientific Team under Astronaut Abril Valentina became the first ever humans to set foot in a different Solar System. On March 28th the AEMS Alcubierre would arrive in the Tau Ceti system. In a widely streamed event the Scientist crew would pop a champagne bottle in celebration of the occasion.

The announcement of the successful mission resulted in an explosion of Corporations and Nations purchasing the drive in droves. The Mex-special corporation would rapidly become the most profitable corporation known, raking in billions of dollars of profits per quarter. This explosive growth would result in an economic boom in Mexico. Mining, Energy, Scientific, Commercial, and more would rapidly expand throughout the Sol System. The Colonies on Luna and Mars would too experience rapid growth within the years and massive funding as shipping resources and equipment to these Off World Colonies were now cheaper than ever, costing less than $10 per Kg. This era widely has been labeled “The Golden Age of Space Travel”.

On Earth the Union of Territories Headquarters had finally been finished with its construction. It was built on a platform off the coast of Tokyo, and Nadera al-Shareef was present to christen the Headquarters. After getting settled within the Headquarters, Nadera would call a special summit to discuss the plans of Demilitarization in the Occupied territories of the KNH. Representatives from the UCA, WCC and from the USM would meet at the summit and discuss the proposition. During the summit rumours started circling around of an increasingly ill Nadera al-Shareef. Aides would whisper about her coughing up blood and secluding herself more and more.

Soon the Tokyo Accords would be signed and North America would see Armed Garrisons and Military forces in the area pulling out slowly. After the Tokyo conference Nadera would announce, following a visit to the Doctors, that she was diagnosed with Terminal Lung Cancer. While this news came as a gut punch to the community of people that looked up to her, many began questioning her ability to lead her administration. Nadera assured her that she would not let her illness get in the way of her Administration, and that she would do everything in her power to cure her cancer.

In North America as the troops pulled out a movement was sweeping the former KNH territories. Sam Leon, and his Leonist Reformation, had pushed for a series of reforms to the Church of Revelations. These reformations replaced the more militant aspects of the religion, with more peaceful practices and doctrines. The Leonist Reformation was starting to grow in these territories with disillusioned ex-citizens of the KNH. A different Reformation had also occurred under a radical priest named Payton Ray. The Rayists were radical militants that had waged guerilla war against the occupying armies. Rayists had believed that those who could not readily accept their religion would be killed without any remorse. They labeled the Communes of the West Coast as “Satanic Abominations”. Both movements have slowly but steadily been rising in the area.

As 2115 was nearing its end, Nadera was faced with a re-election. She would run again promising to help guide the Union through this new space age. Many doubted her abilities, but few stepped up to oppose her re-election. She would win the re-election, many trusting the guiding hand that brought them this far. She looked at the new challenges of this “Golden Era” with Enthusiasm, and uncertainty. The Future was now as boundless, as the stars themselves.

The stars themselves may yet be colonized.

Very interesting update! I wonder where Sol’s first colony will be ? Alpha Centauri?

Technically it was the moon, then Mars. But I know what you meant by that :b
The next couple of years are going to be very interesting for the Union, and for humanity.

2nd al-Shareef Administration

Nadera looked at the prognosis. She had been to every major hospital around the world and had visited the top doctors in their profession. No one had been able to turn around her condition. Doctors estimated that she only had one more year left to live. She sighed and looked at herself in the mirror. The cancer treatments have not been kind to her. She once had long flowing black hair that was now gone because of the Chemo. Her eyes had heavy bags due to her being unable to sleep for long periods of time. Everyone she knew begged her to retire the last few days left in her life, but she had refused.

Nadera gave up everything for this. She stared outside the window and looked out at Tokyo. She had given the Union everything she could. She wanted to see what it was like after she stepped down. She had to do everything in her power to keep the idea alive and strong, even if it meant her death. The Union was bigger than her, bigger than anyone. She had managed to usher in an era of peace and security, and hopefully cooperation with the creation of the Union. Nadera had accepted her fate and looked up at the stars.

An aide was knocking on the door. “c-come in” Nadera said meekly.

The Aide, Kevin Montgomery, was essentially her right-hand man during her second administration. Kevin was a veteran of the North American wars. He was from the NANR and signed up to join the Army when he was 18 and ended up becoming a War Hero during the Battle for Charlotte. He saw & did things that he would rather not speak of. Every time Nadera looked into his eyes she got some semblance of horror that he experienced, but not enough to fully know what exactly he went through.

“Ma’am are you holding up ok?” He said.

Nadera stared out at the window, and stood silently.

Kevin stood there in silence for a moment. “I could get you something like wa-”

“Do you think I did enough?” Nadera asked, still looking out at the City. “Do you think the Union will make it without me?” She said.

Kevin stood there for a moment thinking about it and then spoke. “I wouldn't be able to say ma'am. But I think it will. It's been nearly ten years since there was another major war, and people are starting to like the peace. They’re finding it better than being on edge all the time.”

She took this in, looking at the skyline. She turned around and looked at Kevin Montgomery. “I hope you're right. My time on this Earth isn't long. I got the prognosis.” She said holding up the papers. “This is my last year I have left.”

Kevin looked at her and gulped a hefty gulp. “Im sorry ma’am. But if that's the case then maybe you should step down. You don't have that much longer left in this world. You held up this world like Atlas, so maybe it should be time you let it down for a bit and let someone else take over.”

“And what? Let the sky fall? No. I helped bring about this organization, so I will see it to the end. Thank you for the concern though Montgomery, but this world still needs me. I might be dying, but I still have some fight left in me. I trust you a lot Kevin, so should I get too weak to carry out my normal duties? I want you to take over them until I can get around to it.” She said.

Kevin nodded. “Y’know ma’am you’re ‘bought the most stubborn woman I’ve ever met. You're also probably the greatest person alive currently, so i just wanted to let you know that even if you die tonight there won't be a single person around able to step into your shoes.”

Nadera smiled at Kevin. “Thank you Kevin, that will be all for now. I wish to be left alone. Have a good night.” She said looking onwards at the Tokyo Skyline.

2nd al-Shareef Administration

Nadera Al-shareef in office.png

Nadera al-Shareef in Office early 2116
Nadera al-Shareef would be inaugurated on January 1st of 2116 for her second, and final term as Administrative-General of the UTA. She promised to wrap up lingering problems on Earth and set up a path for Humanity's place in the Stars. She would however be in and out of Hospitals and Clinics taking various treatments to desperately try and cure her cancer. Her Right hand man, a Aide known by the name of Kevin Montgomery, would slowly take over the job of the increasingly ill A-G.

In space a massive surge of research initiatives and Government sponsored galactic survey crew and vessels met with a rapid expansion and exploration of the stars. The creation of the AEMS Alcubierre would be mimicked or replicated by various nations and would rename it according to famous scientists from their own home. Ships such as the Kepler, Hawking, and more spread out from star to star rapidly scanning and cataloguing the local galaxy. As they explored the various planets and stars they would eventually find that life was not exclusive to Earth. Many scientists discovered abandoned relics, forgotten worlds, and uninhabited ruins that hinted at there being a thriving galaxy.

The now famous, and increasingly popular scientist Abril Valentina had become the first Scientists to discover evidence of a Precursor Nation known as “The Yuht”. They discovered a planet that glowed and hummed from ancient long abandoned power plants and reactors. They were still generating enormous amounts of power even though their operators were long gone for centuries. Among that were the ancient floating space hulks of said empire and forgotten stellar space stations. She was not the only one to discover evidence of a dead empire. Scientists from the AFEV Medupe discovered a radioactive planet. On the planet they discovered that it once held civilization much like earth, but they had completely destroyed themselves in a Global Nuclear War. Only trace bodies that now had mutated mushrooms growing out of them was all that was left. It was a startling reminder to humanity just how closely they had brushed death, and how precious life was.

On Earth, the KNH territory was once more becoming a warzone once more. Leonist, and Rayist forces were fighting each other as the days passed on. The battles would grow in scope and intensity, ultimately getting more and more people involved in the conflict. The Tokyo Accords, which called for the Staggered Demilitarization of North America, was slowly being followed. The growing conflict in North America was beginning to threaten that plan. UCA Officials argued that the UCA should get involved in the conflict and back the Leonist forces in North America. Nadera refused, she said that the UCA could send weapons and munitions to the Leonists if they wished but getting involved in a conflict between the members of the KNH would only cause more problems down the line. She cited the series of escalating conflicts in Arabia that eventually lead to the Nuclear war of 2020.

Election Result CANA.png

General Assembly Election results
A vote on the matter was held, with the UCA proposing that they lead an International Coalition into North America. The Vote ended up being tied, 6-6 with two nations: The NANR, and Mexico, abstaining from the vote. Both sides argued one way or the other for the nations to join their side. When soon a sickly, and obviously dying Nadera appeared before the General Assembly. The public at large was kept in the dark as to the condition of Nadera, but her sudden appearance at the General Assembly had made it widely clear that Nadera al-Shareef was not doing good. It had been clear that she was undergoing extensive treatments, her once brightful and colourful demeanor had been replaced by a sickly and decaying look. Her skin had become pale, almost white and she had no hair on her face.

She, with help from her Aide Kevin Montgomery, walked up to the central podium of the General Assembly. She used the podium as a crutch and gave the last speech she would ever make in public.

“This assembly makes me sick. When I worked with this same assembly nearly ten years ago we came together to form an organization that was bound by the idea that we would stop conflict. I have been sick, as many of you can tell, but this does not make me blind to what you're doing. This proposal is a spit in the face to each member who helped found it, who died in the war that brought it forward, and to all who believed in its ideals of Peace and Cooperation. The startling news I have for the assembly is that my days are numbered, and my death is to be expected at any moment. But I will not let this organization be used for leveraging warfare, when we have the opportunity at peace. I will not, for as long as I live, Let this Union allow warfare within its halls. I have nothing more to say”

The General Assembly fell silent as Nadera shambled away from the General Assembly. The session for the day was called to an end, and the next day the Session was called again. The UCA, feeling embarrassed, announced that they were pulling back their proposal. The UCA being the last nation to leave North America, would “Misplace” a large portion of their North American stockpile. The equipment was clearly given to the Leonist cause, but ultimately helped them in the Civil War. Their armies rapidly grew in size and soon the Leonist army would march on New Jerusalem. While the Rayist movement would still linger in the form of Guerilla fighters, their over all dreams of unifying the KNH under their banner had died when the Leonists took New Jerusalem from them.

With Leon himself now in charge of the Nation he called an Assembly to discuss the fuure of the KNH. The Congress of New Heaven would debate for nearly three months until they announced to the world about the Future plans of the KNH. The Kingdom of New Heaven would become a Secular republic. The new nation would be called The Great Plains Republic and had announced that they were embarking upon an ambitious plan to remove decades of religious and state integration.

North America was finally at peace, however Nadera would not live to see it. On the same day that the Congress of New Heaven announced their plans for the Secular Great Plains Republic, she was pronounced deceased. The UTA fell into a period of mourning with the whole organization ceasing operations for the day. The next day they announced that they would be holding a special ceremony in remembrance for the Administrative General. The Ceremony was held a week later on 21.06.2124 Every nation sent a representative to the ceremony, and every representative gave speeches honoring Nadera.

After the Ceremony the Union began holding the election for who would lead the UTA. While many influential people across Earth and the Colonies began their push to become the new Administrative General, many agree that whoever takes control will have some big shoes to fill.

Earth’s conflicts are dealt with.

We know of interstellar civilizations, but we have yet to encounter any. I wonder how the UTA will react to other Interstellar empires/states?

With peace here, I shall quote a venerable space ranger: To infinity and beyond! ;)
