Earth-Pacific-Ocean.jpg

The year 2020 would be marked by the end of the world. Much of the old nations had fallen, leaving people to rebuild the world from scratch. Many governments would rise, with various ideologies. Wars would break out between the survivors leading to great acts of violence. There would also be great acts of kindness as people selflessly helped each other rebuild, knowing that the only way they would survive is if they worked together.

Eventually the Nuclear Winter would dissipate from the world and true growth would begin. The world population quickly recovered, crop yields could now sustain populations thrice the size of the world's population, and Trade networks would spring up once again. With recovery achieved and with nations now having a stable presence, focus has shifted to their neighbors.

Quickly becoming allies or rivals with each other a new network of complicated relationships would form. Many nations believe each to be worse than the other, with threats of war even being tossed at each other. In a world such as this Humanity now stands on a knife's edge to total war.

The Democracies of the world proclaim the radicals to be the biggest threats to world peace instigating revolutions and causing instability. They believe that if the radicals continue to exist the whole world will plunge into darkness.

Communes say that governmental establishments are the biggest threat to world peace, calling out the pre-existing nations that focused on powerful governments that caused the Nuclear Hell to begin with. They argue the only way there can be peace is if the people crush the establishment and break the chains of oppression.

Some say that both of these ideologies are flawed, believing the reason for the total destruction of humanity to come from degeneracy. Radicals, and even Democratic establishments could not bring peace to humanity even after the nuclear war because Humanity needs a strong government to guide them.

Some even argue that the reason humanity failed is due to them straying from God, with them believing the conflict was god's way of resetting the world. A sign of his righteous punishment.

While everyone might be right in their own way, this active and open hostility could very well cause another great war, one to dwarf all others. Many are militarizing, stockpiling food, and stoking the fires of industry to churn out industrial war machines. Many are trying to keep the peace between each other, however many either ignore these attempts or actively discourage them. In the coming years, however these nations decide to deal with each other will define humanity for centuries to come.

This may prove to be an interesting AAR.
Quick question:is this a Prologue of sorts?

Current State of the world

South America:
south-america-23254914-1483526763-ImageGalleryLightboxLarge.jpg

When the nuclear war came in full swing south America was engulfed in a vicious tide of civil conflict and wars. Many far-right and far-left leaders would come into power and violently purge their opposition. The more moderate individuals of this new order found themselves targeted the most, because of this most attempts to install a democratic government in this state of constant wars failed miserably.

Then, one fateful day in the Andes five seasoned generals from various backgrounds, and movements would meet to establish a vanguard democratic party. One more militaristic than its predecessors. At first it was the Democratic Citizens Front, and it would see great success conquering and even able surpass the strongest regimes around them. Soon all of south America would be united by the DCF and they would inaugurate the new Citizen Republic of South America.

It is a Republican Democracy with a built in vanguard system, where members of the government are required to serve a certain amount of time in various levels of the government including but not limited to the military, community service, and some local election circuits. With higher seats being locked off by minimum service requirements such as the Presidency which requires the nominee to have at least contributed 15 years to the government in service.

When the unification of South America happened, the now monumental and crucial task of uniting the peoples mentally, and repairing the damages done to the state would begin. At first it was on the verge of failure, however the various peoples of the continent would be united as one when a surprise war from the remnants of the United States threatened not only the CRSA but also all of South America. With their backs against the walls South America fought like hell and ultimately prevailed in the invasion.

This war caused many to rethink leaving the CRSA, as a united South America beat the United States Military. A thing that was unthinkable a century ago had now been accomplished, leading many to think of the unimaginable possibilities that South America can achieve. Soon after the reconstruction the nation began exploring the world to come into contact with the survivors and gain a good idea of what the political landscape looks like.

While the CRSA came across many Democracies they would also come across the feared Radicals, both right and left and has now undertaken a major initiative to stall Radical growth across the world. From Secretive lend-leasing to financial aid the CRSA will do anything to stop the Rads. Some Politicians however believe the only way to stop radicals from growing is to cut them down at the source.

Middle America:
RTS2BGSS.jpg

The Nuclear war that broke out would leave the middle American nations unaffected by its initial salvos, due to none of them being targets of the bombs. However the coming collapse of civilizations and nuclear winter would begin to seriously affect each of these nations. In Mexico due to the sudden drop in world temperature massive Drug cartels which relied heavily on the narcotic cash crops were now left without their main source of income.

In a panic they began rallying Gang Militias and began targeting cities, and violently taking over town. The Mexican Republican government rallied whatever troops did not defect to deal with the Cartel crisis, leading to a bloody war between the two. People tired of the bloodshed on both of these sides fled to the countryside, some even joining the elusive Zapatistas.

Soon all of Mexico was torn apart by a vicious civil war. The Mexican loyalists, desperate to end this war after it reached its fourth year brokered a deal with the Zapatistas: Both would mutually ally to fight the Cartel menace, and in return the Zapatistas would get anything south Pueblo. The Zapatistas agreed, and swiftly the two crushed the Cartels. The two honored their agreements and occupied their respective territories.

However this is more of an uneasy peace and both sides are itching for the opportunity to attack the other. Fortifications have been built across the Pueblo line and the occasional border skirmish breaks out between the two however none had been too serious to break the ceasefire. In central America, the government would totally collapse due to the lack of American markets. People would slowly rebuild, but when the Mexican/Zapatista ceasefire came into effect the Zapatistas would work on integrating the Central American survivors into the Zapatista movement.

In the Caribbean they too would suffer from a total collapse, however they would quickly rebuild as the islanders would work selflessly to help each other survive establishing a inter-island community. They now have a close relationship with the Zapatista’s, trading and mutually helping each other.

The Middle Americas are somewhat stable nowadays, with the Cartels now gone from the Mexican United States, the nation has become heavily focused on innovation. Where the Mexican Economy was once a major agrarian economy, the nation now has the most innovative tech economies in the world. The USM has been a major help in re-establishing the Computerized World, and even help re-establishing the Satellite orbital network.

Even though the Nation is at peace as of now, there are talks of a reunification of Mexico. La Reunificación has been the major hot button political topic on everyone's mind, with the Presidential election of 2100 becoming the most divisive one in Mexican politics. Some think that Mexico should try and peacefully integrate their home territories while others think Mexico should take it back from the Rebels. Whoever becomes President in the 2100 elections will be the most defining one.

Sounds like the world truly went to hell.

North America:
download.jpeg

When the Nuclear war broke out the United States Heads of government would pull out of the Mainland north America's entirely leaving citizens and civilians behind to fend for themselves. With the Nuclear war also dropping the temperature the local populace from Canada would mass emigrate into America. Some Americans in turn would emigrate to Mexico only to be caught in the nations Brutal civil war.

Many instead of fleeing chose to rebuild civilization from where they were. In the West Coast, thousands of Communes arose with all of these eventually allying in a mutual aid coalition. On the East Coast the New Republic of North America would be formed, spearheaded by the North Carolinian remaining government.

In the Midwest the major religions in the area had a crisis of faith, as the skies darkened they panicked and took over local towns and cities. Eventually the nation in this area would resemble an 18th Century theocratic feudalistic society, with all pledging their loyalty to a king like figure.

In the Rust Belt, due to having to fend off against the vicious religious attacks the communes that had sprung up in the area began unifying more and more until a vicious power grab by Gregory Michael would unify the Communes into a communist nation resembling that of the U.S.S.R. of the old world.

The fighting in the mid-west between the kingdoms would eventually stop as they would all be united by Steve Smiths who earned the title The Conqueror. With the Mormon Kingdoms unified Steve Smiths proclaimed the birth of Deseret, and the following day the skies would clear. The people of Deseret were sure that they now had the blessing of god. They began recklessly attacking neighboring nations.

The nations tired of the constant attacks, for one time allied to attack Deseret. Every nation that fought in this battle would succeed, and gain land as a result. With such a bitter defeat many in Deseret questioned if they truly were on the holy path. Steve Smiths would issue a proclamation for all lords and rulers to cease the inter-fighting and to focus on attacking the Godless Heathens around them.

Ever since coming across the CRSA the New Republic of North America is in a state of crisis. The nation was founded on the ideal that a strong central government would not work, the CRSA in turn has put this into doubt. A new party has entered the political scene and has been making major waves, both good and bad.

The Senate of the 20 states is stuck in a deadly political feud. Tied between the Federalist Party which believes in strengthening the central government, and the Confederalist Party which believes in a weak central government. Both sides accuse the other of being supported by outsiders or being “unpatriotic”. The New President Jamal Brown has been struggling to keep these two parties from fighting each other and is struggling to keep the union together.

With North America being a hotbed of violence, instability and feuds. Many argue that if a world war does break out, it will start in America.

Keeping a continental power together in such times is bound to prove tricksy - here it clearly proved too much.

I only had a realization after i finished writing the North America SotW, that North America basically became the Balkans

>Used to be united under a great empire

>When it fell various nations rose from the ashes

>constant state of chaos and turmoil

Haha, true that. :D

State of the World

Europe:
wallhaven-705462.jpg

Europe would see the nuclear war come full swing, devastating major capitals. Soon afterwards the Nuclear winter began forming around Europe.

Many would mass emigrate from areas already freezing over, and placing even more pressure on the surviving European nations. The internet and even the globalized trade network that Europe had relied so heavily on would cease almost immediately causing one of the worst economic crashes in history, worse than the great depression in the 1920’s

Ultimately Europe would not survive as what little nations remained quickly fell to either riots or an overwhelmed government that just closed down everything and gave up. People in desperation would emigrate to Africa in a twist of Ironic fate.

Even though most of the world would collapse people quickly moved to military bases that had not been destroyed, and either joined the military there or formed a community around the bases.

Eventually as Europe slowly began to recover these military base communities would come into contact and offer mutual aid. Soon these bases would ally and conquer the small tribes and communities around them ultimately growing in size.

Soon this alliance would begin to grow to huge sizes, and in a meeting between the Commissariats would christen the new government The European Commonwealth. The ECW would be a militarized nation, split into a multitude of Commissariats.

These Commissariats would chose only the best Marshalls to represent them, then the Marshall's meet in the capital in Malta. The Marshalls discuss important issues happening in the Commissariat and the state. Of these Marshalls is the High Marshall which leads the state with great care.

Once the ECW had encompassed all of Europe and the British Isles, many of the Marshalls had been debating on attacking a more formidable foe. Just like in the 19th-20th century, Europe gained prestige by conquering Africa and exploiting her resources. So they decided to do the same.

The forces of the ECW would muster and successfully conquer the nations hugging the Mediterranean coasts but ultimately suffer trying to move past the vast stretches of the Sahara Desert. Their forces would be met by the stiff resistance of a now untied African Continent and would beat back their forces spectacularly.

High Marshall Romuald Cuvier was forced to step down and was replaced by High Marshall Aquilino Monteverde. Has vowed he would take Africa once and for all for Europe, however with the discovery of Democratic and even Commune nations in the Americas many have thought about prioritizing their military to deal with what they see as the greater threat. Marshall Monteverde has the entirety of the Commonwealth watching, and eagerly awaiting his decision…

Europe sounds like a combination of syndicalism and militarism - must make rather uncomfortable neighbours.

State of the World:

Africa:
cape-town-header.jpg

For Africa the Nuclear war came and went, Africa was left mostly unaffected by it. While some nations would for sure suffer from economic instability or crashes the now insular Africa was able to help and support these nations. Due to the lack of a UN oversight nations that had grievances against each other now began to fight each other again.

Genocides, Brutal wars, and waves of both right and left movements taking over governments became the norm. This would be the standard affair of African Politics, until in the year 2070 A massive army coming from Europe began attacking the African nations on the Mediterranean Coast.

As the invaders took over these nations in a matter of days. African politicians now realizing the major threat these invaders pose began mobilizing troops, demanding ceasefires, all in a one time event to halt the invaders in the Desert. As the invasion finally crossed the Sahara they met stiff resistance by the African Armies breaking the Spearhead of the ECW.

After weeks of fighting the ECW would pull back defeated in the desert. Africa stunned by this victory would experience a Renaissance. The African Union would see a strong central government and Unionist fervor would spread throughout the Continent. The African peoples feel united for the first time in history.

Major reconstruction efforts has been undertaken, industrialization kicked in full swing and a huge cultural renaissance would define the African Scene. Around this time Africa would come into contact with the Citizen Republic of South America and become close friends with them as they both shared many similarities.

There is talk of a United Africa, however this has been stifled by the few African nations that are skeptical of a United African nation still feel as if their problems have not been met. Nations that signed the ceasefire hoping to fight each other again were now stymied by the Union of Africa.

The Union of Africa realizes the threat that rebellious and warlike nations pose, as the ECW stands across the Sahara like a Hound. They wait for the slightest sign of instability and hope to capitalize on that. If Africa is to survive, they have to be at peace even if it has to be enforced.

Politicians of Africa are struggling, juggling between keeping the peace on the home front, and staving off the ECW in the north. The next few years could either be the greatest in the continent, uniting the African peoples once and for all. Or the darkest time in its history, leading to the total downfall of the continent.

To be fair the history of Africa up until the latter part of the century sounds remarkably like the history of Africa before the nuclear war.

Oh, Europe... :p

State of the World:

Middle East:
MiddleEast_Boulevard.jpg

With the breakout of the Nuclear War American military personnel were forced to pull out en mass effectively ending the Military occupation of most of the Area. At first it was seen as a sign from Allah, but as the dark clouds rolled in many panicked and begun attacking each other for flimsy reasons.

Eventually the bloodshed would cease in a event known as the Ramadan Peace. What started as a short term ceasefire quickly grew to be the longest time of peace in the area. Nations in the area wishing to keep the peace begun the Union of Ajam, which was similar to the now bygone United Nations.

The members of the Union of Ajam would carefully and deliberately work on ensuring the peace. The Union would even contain peacekeeping forces to instantly put down the remaining religious extremists and other threats to peace and stability.

Soon it would come into contact with the rest of the world and see similarities. It would see a world that for the Union of Ajam, it had long left behind. A deadly war that now could encompass the planet. There are talks of creating something like the Union of Ajam on a global scale, to ensure peace and stability.

For now though the nation has decided to stay in a form of Isolation, staying out of the worlds Politiks and meddling. Current speaker of the Union Nadeera al-Shareef is using what influence she can to form this proposed union of the world called “The Union of Territories Accord”

To the north lies the remnants of the Russian Federation. When their nation was bombed in the nuclear war they quickly pushed to the caucuses and lied in wait until the Nuclear Winter dissipated. Once the Nuclear Winter was gone the Russian Provisional Government sponsored a major recolonization effort. Quickly though the RPG found their most culturally important cities to be now claimed by the European Commonwealth.

Both are at peace but both are aware that a war could be coming. A major build up on the border has begun and the Russo-Commissariat has shifted to a state of War-time preparation. Russia was able to reclaim much of its old land in Siberia and even in Vladivostok. A build up of industry deep in Russian territory is underway and soon Russia might have the resources to go to war with the European Commonwealth.

Many see this future war to break out being a slap fest between two giants. The Eagle and the Bear fighting to the death, one last time.

Asia:
japan-cityscapes-futuristic-digital-art-artwork-2560x1702-wallpaper.jpg

Asia would see a major nuclear exchange almost unrivaled anywhere else. China, getting hit by the most nukes in the war, with places like Korea and Taiwan being completely uninhabitable. India and Pakistan would see a minor exchange of nukes and would destroy each other as a result of it.

The People's Republic of China was forced to pull back into the countryside, and was now suffering economically. The heavy foreign exports that China relied so heavily on collapsed overnight, citizens now jobless began to wake up to their oppression under the PRC. It would start out as killing sprees of “loyalists” and would grow to a full scale rebellious army.

Thousands of citizens would grab weapons to fight the PRC, flying the banner of Sun Yat Sen. The people rallied in droves, while the few remaining members of the PRC begged for their lives. Mercy would not be given, and every remaining official would be violently executed for their grievous crimes.

China began to rebuild the nation under the new Republic of China. It would ensure its people would be free and have comfortable lives while also working on keeping the fledgling government alive. It was a tough time but ultimately China would pull out of it victorious. It would actively invite neighbors to join the republic and be guaranteed freedom and universal rights.

In India, due to the devastated nature of most of the continent Communes started to rise out of the few cities that were not left devastated by the nukes. The communes would eventually grow to enormous sizes and would be seen as a threat by the Republic of China, remembering the harsh rule of communist leaders.

Both are jockeying for power in the Southeast Asian nations, supporting and encouraging their own ideologies in the area in a proxy war.

The quiet nation of Japan would survive the war and even prosper, as the influx of immigrants would solve much of the dilemmas of the nation. Japan would see a major economic growth unrivaled elsewhere. Japan now is the leading Technological market unrivaled elsewhere.

So far they have decided to stay Neutral in foreign affairs, with many trying to play their cards right and get Japan on their side. It is doubtful that Japan will get wrapped up in a war, but if it does it would prove to be a vital ally for any side.
