I have sad news to say that I am currently halting this story. There's a lot of reasons behind this. A reason I am halting it currently mainly has to go with story, part of it is that I had no clue how this story was going to end. So at this part in the story I really felt like i was meandering about. I really wanted to do a Federation, but the plan behind that fell apart through various reasons part of which was an evolving ethics mod that made a lot of enemies combined with poor RnG which resulted in a lot of Authoritarian or Warlike empires.

I feel like these are rookie mistakes for sure, so in the future I do plan on re-making this story when the Stellaris Federation update comes out as diplomacy (the lack of it that is) really hindered my experience in the story. However, this is not to say that I am giving up on writing. I plan on making way more stories in the future! So if your interested or liked what I wrote just stay tuned for that.

When I come around to writing an update I will post it in this thread, but until then I will unfortunately call it an end here.

Prologue

2020 marked the end of the known world. A nuclear arms exchange resulted in massive Devastation, destroying the foundations of the world and causing mass calamity and turmoil. This would not end humanity. Humans would rebuild from the ashes, and scrape out a new life in this post-apocalyptic world. Eventually the Nuclear Winter would dissipate from the world and true growth would begin.

The world population quickly recovered, crop yields could now sustain populations, and Trade networks would spring up once again. With recovery achieved and with nations now having a stable presence. however they brought with them new conflicts, new bitter rivalries and harsh wars taking more lives in their wake. With these conflicts growing in intensity, many fear that a great war is on the horizon.

Hope for peace is not gone however, as some push for all to put aside their differences and unite for the betterment of man.
The world stands on a knife's edge, where one slip could plunge the world in a war that could very well be its last. If Mankind is to survive, it must Stand United.

State of the World as of 2100

worldofwsu.PNG

Map of the World 2100 A.D.
Mankind has spent many years rebuilding and reclaiming Earth from the ashes and ruins of the old world. While Earth is still pocketed by stubborn patches of Radiation, massive genetic ailments, and with most if not all of the planet's biodiversity gone life is not easy. Eventually life on earth became more liveable, crops and other organisms on Earth began to grow accustomed to the Radiation.

Nations would earn their place too in this new world, with some having the honor of existing before the nuclear winter, and others rising from the ashes of a now gone nation. The world would still experience more changes as wars would take more nations. All these changes would eventually solidify by the year 2100. Much like the beginning of the 20th Century, the 22nd Century will change the world in ways many will not expect.

South America
UCAFLAG45.png

The Flag of the UCA, sometimes nicknamed the "Battle Standard of Democracy"
U.C.A. (Union of Citizens Alliances)
Government: Citizen Republic
Biography:
When the Nuclear war came, South America collapsed into a series of infighting and warfare. This war would continue for nearly ten years, when five generals from various walks of life and various backgrounds allied to unite South America. The following years would see an almost explosive growth of the Generals Territories. The nation soon found its military woefully undermanned, but containing a wealth of Refugees and other people that refused to join the fight. The Generals took an extraordinary measure and removed citizenship to all, only granting it to those who join the military.

Following this measure their military would see an explosive rise in military personnel and slowly the Union Citizens Alliance as they have begun to call themselves would eventually unite South America. They would slowly begin to rebuild and bring back order to a battered continent. Soon the UCA began exploring the world and coming across other nations fostering either close ties or strong rivalries. The UCA stands currently as a superpower that seeks to foster and promote Egalitarian ideals, and is not opposed to using force to achieve these goals.

Chinese Expeditions
The UCA participated in the Chinese Expeditions, a series of involvements in China to unite the scattered continent under a stronger and more friendly nation. The UCA showcased the strength of its special forces and of its superior military assets during many battles.

Soon China was united under the Citizen Republic of China, with their government being heavily modeled after the Democratic model that Sun Yat-Sen once envisioned. After the Chinese Expeditions the UCA would come into conflict with the European Commonwealth.

ECW-UCA War
A series of border skirmishes and bullying tactics by the European Commonwealth led to war breaking out between the two nations. The war ended in a stalemate but the UCA would destroy the European Navy leading the ECW to largely focus on Shore defence and Land campaigns.

Northern American Expeditions
The UCA would Participate in the War of Containment, a war against the Kingdoms of New Heaven. During the war the UCA would lend its military equipment to all sides opposing the KNH, and would even send out volunteer divisions and officers to help out in the war effort. The UCA would capture most outlying coastal cities from the KNH, the crown jewel of which being New Orleans. When the war of containment was over the UCA would join in a mutual defensive pact in the event that the Kingdoms of New Heaven were to ever declare war again the UCA would support them in this effort.

Space Program
During the international space race the UCA was one of four nations capable of extensive space programs and was able to set up colonies on the Moon and on Mars. The UCA has several mining outposts and is heavily supporting its outer world colonies. The UCA is considered to be the most advanced space faring nation out of all the nations capable of space travel.

Central America

450px-flag_of_the_ezln-svg.png

Flag of the Free Territories of the Americas
FTA (Free Territories of the Americas)
Government: Anarcho-Communist Communes
Biography:
Mexico would not suffer the immediate Devastation from the nuclear war. When the Nuclear Winter rolled in and the economy quickly deteriorating, the Cartels launched a surprise coup against the Mexican government. A massive civil war broke out between the Republican Loyalists and the Drug Cartel families. During this war southern mexican provinces and the Zapatistas began to expand throughout southern mexico and would join the Civil war.

With the war devolving into an outright slog the Republican Loyalists met with the Zapatistas and brokered a deal. A temporary truce so that they may fight united against the drug cartels, and after the civil war was over Mexico would be split in half, the north going to the Republican Loyalists and the south going to the Zapatistas. They agreed and swiftly crushed the Cartels in a united effort. After the civil war was over they held their ends of the bargain and occupied the southern half of Mexico.

Zapatistas are largely peaceful. For a time they used to have hostile relations with the USM but following the Civil War both sides grew reluctant to fight each other. No physical borders exist between each other, with a citizen of one or the other able to simply move across the border if they want to.

Caribbean Expansion
The Zapatistas sent aid expeditions to the Caribbean to help the Islanders that were simply left on their own following the collapse of Society. The Zapatistas never forced anything unto the survivors and only helped them rebuild. After the survivors rebuilt they joined the Zapatistas and soon the Free Territories of the Zapatistas became the Free Territories of the Americas.

Flag of the United States of Mexico
USM (United States of Mexico)
Government: Democratic Republic
Biography:
With the Mexican civil war over, Mexico was left to rebuild its battered country. Originally the first two presidents of Mexico often wanted to unite the country as a whole. However many people simply didn't see why it was important and focused instead on rebuilding the country. Eventually most Mexicans lacked the care nor wish to unite the country and stuck to peaceful diplomacy.

Space League
Mexico is one of the founding members of the Space League, a union of Space Programs to better facilitate space travel. The program has been a huge success and many nations have joined the Space League. The Space League allowed member nations to colonize extra terrestrial bodies that normally they wouldn't have been able to.

War of Containment
Mexico would be one of many participants in the War of Containment. Mexico was responsible for taking the precious Texan Oil fields from the KNH. Mexico as a result had to face the brunt of the KNH military force, with the Battle of Dallas becoming the most famous battle in the war. When Mexico captured Texas the Army started to experience morale problems, this would lead to the end of the war.

Hmm, interesting.
I kind of want to learn more about the KNH, especially given that you keep mentioning this "War of Containment".
The KNH and the war of containment will be in the next National Overview ;)

Flag of the NANR
NANR (North American New Republic)
Government: Democratic Republic
Biography:
When the Nuclear war broke out the United States Government had gone quiet. States within the United States tried desperately to keep everything together. On the East Coast North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia all united under a mutual federal alliance to survive the nuclear winter. When the nuclear winter dissipated the NANR was formed. The NANR is a Democratic Republic heavily modeled after the United States that came before it.

The nation takes great care of its citizens and has some of the most progressive policies of any nation on earth. Many people seeking to start over or simply to live as free of a life as possible will migrate to the NANR. The NANR was one of a collective of nations that helped re-establish the Telecoms, and trade networks that once permeated the old world.

The War of Containment
Due to growing resentments with the Kingdom of New Heaven, their neighbor and rival, the NANR joined the West Coast Commune, the United States of Mexico, and the UCA in what has since been called “The War of Containment”. These allied nations all declared war on the KNH and would become involved in a war that was particularly bloody. During the War of Containment the NANR was responsible for pushing and taking the southern states and to hold the mountain ranges from the KNH.

The NANR would succeed in pushing south and would link up with the forces bogged down in Fighting in Texas. After the Battle of Dallas USM forces were suffering morale problems. The war eventually came to an end and the Treaty of Raleigh drew the war to an end.

Flag of the KNH

KNH (Kingdom of New Heaven)
Government: Theocratic Republic
Biography:
Following the Nuclear War that engulfed the world, many communities in the midwest would be effectively lost. These communities rallied behind various leaders and people that could effectively guide them through these harsh times. Many churches in the midwest began banding together and forming religious towns and villages.

Overtime the Religious communities had experienced a subtle but important shift in their religion leading to the creation of the Brotherhood of New Heaven. The believed that the Nuclear war that destroyed the planet was the end times that was prophecised in the book of Revelations. They believe that they were left on Earth so that they could do God's work, and save the people left behind from Eternal Damnation.

Despite having the name Kingdom of New Heaven they are not in fact a monarchy by any sense of the word. They resemble the NANR in that their government is based off the United States of old. However if the NANR modeled its government after the US, then the KNH copied it completely. The KNH is heavily militant, expanding outwards and causing much conflict with its immediate neighbors. People who have been conquered are foced to convert. Any who fail to do so both within and without are sent to a series of Conversion Camps that ensure they embrace the will of god. If a person does convert then they will have a place in society and can live in the nation as normally as a natural born citizen.

A notable series of laws in the KNH, or as its sometimes nicknamed "New Heaven Law" is a series of regressive and patriarchal laws that contain harsh punishments for being anything involved in the LGBT+ spectrum, and laws that disenfranchise women by an extreme margin not seen anywhere else. It is because of this that a secret network of people smuggling exists between the KNH and the nations around it.

KNH War neighbor wars
The KNH waged wars with its neighbours varying in size and intensity. These wars were against Mexico, and the NANR, a crusade was planned against the West Coast Commune but was cancelled due to the war of containment.

SCRB Crusade
In the Rustbelt a Socialist Commune arose by the name of the Socialist Cities of the Rustbelt. The KNH had experienced some unsuccessful wars against the SCRB. It is due to these wars that they were deemed nonredeemable and thus a Crusade was declared. A Crusade is a extremely rare event, and once declared on a nation or a people it means that they cannot be redeemed and are to be put to death. Following the capture of Chicago lynching mobs would hang any person that they could come across found guilty of supporting the Communist cause, and those refusing to convert. Dozens hanged from light posts and windows leaving a grim message for all. This act of genocide was the largest contributing factor to cause the nations to wage the war of containment against the Kingdom of new Heaven.

War of Containment
The Kingdom of New Heaven would be caught completely off guard when the war of containment broke out. The president of the KNH rallied the military against the invasion, but would be unable to stop the overwhelming force. When the coaliton force took the Texan Oil fields they forced a peace with the KNH, and forced massive sanctions on the KNH. The war of containment is a source of lasting resentment within the KNH, with many mainstream politicians crying for a Crusade. The phrase "Remember Dallas" has become a rallying cry for members within the Military. Various tanks, planes, and even uniforms have the words written across them.

Hunt for Oil
With the Texan Oil fields taken away, the Kingdom of New Heavens largely mechanized oil fields desperately needed sources of oil to support its military. They desperately funded prospecting projects in KNH land and pushed for sources of oil from trade. These combined efforts have managed to bring back the oil that the KNH so desperately needed.

Flag of the West Coast Commune

WCC (West Coast Commune)
Government: Anarcho-Communist Collective
Biography:
The west coast was left broken from the nuclear war, receiving the brunt of the nukes in America. From the chaos and calamity eventually the survivors managed to band together and work together in collective communes. These communes would spread throughout the west coast as their popularity caught on like wildfire.

The WCC generally stick to themselves and don't get involved in international conflicts or skirmishes. Recently however the WCC is taking a more active role in politics following the Crusade against the SCRB and participated in the War of Containment.

War of Containment
During the war of Containment the WCC focused on a more defensive guerrilla campaign. The WCC lacked the capabilities for offensive campaigns and played to their strength. The WCC managed to cause significant losses and ultimately halt all offensives into the west.

The KNH sounds... extreme.

Also, "Remember Dallas"? Considering the Texans/Americans ultimately won their war, and this sounds like "Remember the Alamo", that does not bode well.

Europe and Eurasia

Flag of the Greater Slavic Union
GSU (Greater Slavic Union)
Government: Federal Republic
Biography:
When Russia and most of Europe devolved into infighting and bloodshed. For a long time Russia became known as a land of factionalism and wildlands where you were more likely to die before you even hit the age of 30. Some Survivors managed to gain enough strength to form the Union of the Caucuses. They began pushing into Russia to reclaim their land but were caught off guard by the invasion of the European Commonwealth. The Union of the Caucuses fell back and defended their manageable areas as the ECW pushed violently forward. Eventually the ECW stopped all hostilities with the Union of the Caucasus as they wished to focus on taking the rest of Russian lands before the emerging China could claim them.

Following the establishment of the Stalin Commissariat the Union of the Caucasus changed their name to the Greater Slavic Union. They are seeking international aid to help them reclaim their lands from the tyrannical European Commonwealth and are gathering for a grand initiative.

Flag of the European Commonwealth
ECW (European Commonwealth)
Government: Military Junta
Biography:
Europe would not become attacked during the initial skirmishes of the nuclear war. Europe would begin to experience extensive troubles when refugees from various areas flooded mainland Europe. The Nuclear Winter that encompassed the planet had also begun to take their toll as suddenly, most nations within Europe became uninhabitable putting more strain on nations. Government Employees would become so exhausted that many would give up and leave the nation to collapse. Other nations would fall to massive protests and turmoil.

When Europe Collapsed totally and utterly many found safety within the military bases scattered across the continent. Soon these military bases began pushing outwards and reclaiming these lost lands. The Generals all wished to realize a similar goal of a united Europe allied and formed the European Commonwealth in Malta. The European Commonwealth has an almost religious belief in the strength of a state, and harbors a strong hatred of areas that have not modernized. As a result the European Commonwealth will invade areas where survivors have not rebuilt to bring them civilization, whether or not they want it. When the European Commonwealth manages to conquer and stabilize areas they will establish Commissariats based around strong leaders within said nations. Examples include the Napoleon Commissariat, the Bismarck Commissariat, the Stalin Commissariat, and many more.

They are strong rivals with the UCA, and because of this The ECW has begun reaching out to nations across the world to form a military alliance of nations that will hopefully destroy the UCA. ECW ambassadors have been seen in the KNH, and in the Socialist States of Asia leading to the source of many rumors.

African Invasion
The European Commonwealth saw Africa as a primitive backwater of feuding nations. They believe that it was their duty to bring civilization to Africa and begun their campaigns to invade africa. The War for a time was successful, but when the Military pushed past the Sahara Desert they were met by an almost fanatical defence. The war quickly bogged down and soon the ECW were forced to pull back. The ECW formed a ceasefire and fled back to behind the Sahara and began fortifying and rebuilding the nations hugging the Mediterranian.

Russian Conquest
Russia had yet to rebuild. The Survivors of Russia had only recently climbed out of either their Metro stations or other soviet era bunkers and resettling on their land. The High Council within the European Commonwealth seeked to bring civilization to the scattered and broken continent. Soon the massive military machine of the European Commonwealth launched a massive invasion of Russia, and the Eurasian steppe, not seen since 1942. They violently pushed outwards and managed to conquer enormous swathes of land and soon unite all of Russia.

UCA - ECW War
The ECW Stalin Commissariat began a series of border skirmishes on the Russo-Sino border that eventually escalated into a massive war. The large front lines of the conflict caused the Military power of the European Commonwealth to become a paper tiger as their army was spread too thin to fight effectively. During the war a series of naval battles on the Atlantic resulted in the destruction of their infant navy. The Commonwealth Council changed their navy from Blue Water, to Brown Water and began putting all of their time and effort into their land force military.

Soon after both sides gave each other a bloody nose they agreed to a ceasefire.
