I wait years for a game like transport tycoon and now a light on the horizon is coming.
It is a very good beginning and here I want all Forumites to post, who wants a sequel of CiM that is more like transport tycoon, with trains, ships, buses, Airplanes and ressources to carry and lightsignals to set and routes to plan in difficult landsettings and many towns and villages.
Paradox have build a great engine for such a game.

So come on all transporties. Let us send paradox the message, that we all want such a game and we all are willing to pay for that :).

We all want such a game but Cities in Motion isn't such a game.

With expansions it could be TT3. And depending on the map sizes i have no doubt that the modders for this current game will try and imitate TTD with mods. And CO seem to be commited to this game so who knows what this will become in years to come.

Well, I might be wrong, but the game is by far too much base on passenger transport to be transformed for good transportation in my opinion.
I think you can do a big passenger transportation games by modding but not a "transport anything" game. And let's face it, a TT3 would need this.

Agreed that the scale is wrong for TT.
Still. Trains would be nice in CiM.
And I could well imagine its very, very possible to do a inter-city transport mod; just make new, tiny buildings, with lots of people a piece, and space them out into little chunks.

Hmm, what I could imagine is smaller villages and towns further away, which need to be transported via train. That simply extends the city scale, rather than completely abandon it.

Just a couple of days ago I was watching some of the AI trains and cars disappear off the map, and it reminded me of Simcity 4- with regions that could interact. I'd be glad to see something like that- build up a town and then make connections to surrounding ones.

Maybe, I'm unique on this forum, but I prefer Cities in Motion (and Traffic Giant) to TT.
Of course, such a huge game, like TT, with CiM graphics would be perfect, but just after CiM gets a few add-ons and becomes even more, hmm, complex and deep, if it's correct to say so.

There've been released loads of TT-like games (OTTD, Locomotion, Transport Giant, Trains & Truck Tycoon etc), and there is only one CiM-like - TG.

TT, TTD and Locomotion was all made by the same guy, Chris Sawyer. I liked TTD, but loved Locomotion! Would really like to see such a game with better graphics for sure. I didn't like any of the others like Trans & Trucks or Transport Giant. The latter one doesn't even work correctly in Win7 even though the developer support guys says so.

CiM is a new kind of breed if you ask me, even though there's been a Traffic Giant, I feel this one is deeper, better built, and not better looking.

Tick tock, can't wait for tomorrow to come..

I am happy that CiM is about public trasport because i like this concept and enjoyed TG. But I loved TTD too and still play a lot in OpenTTD (with Passenger and cargo distribution mod).
Graphics engine looks very good and it would be great to see more games based on it: TT like or even other transport simulation, infrastructure building or economic strategy.
Hope CiM sale will be good and show there is demand for that kind games.
