I wrote my own "Final count down" mod for one of the older iterations of WitP.
USS Nimitz vs the whole Japanese navy, it was pretty awesome.

I'll bet it was.

I've not broken down and spent that kind of money for a game. Maybe after I get me one of them fancy-doodad 27-inch monitors so's I can actually see which units I'm a working with.;)

Hearthstone has a fine system in place and it's not pay2win either. You either pay with money or time. How is that not generous?

How much chance do you have for winning with only basic cards against a player with most expansion cards?
Payment is not absolutely needed, maybe. But if you pay, you can still win more easily. It is still a type of pay2win. Think about LoL and World of Warcraft -- you pay to make yourself cool, but not powerful. You don't have a better chance to win in WoW arena/BG or a LoL game just because you have purchased some mounts from the in-game store.
For early players, it is possible for them to "pay with time", although that requires a huge amount of time and very few people can afford it. And it is even no longer possible for the new players now because the new cards are coming out like crazy. It is like "hey you can eat the shit to play, or pay me to play". How is that generous?

But, let's end this topic because it's not related to paradox game.

Oh so like most Card games? Unbelievable. And you can build a competitive deck without paying any cent.
IRC the pay only cards usually are considered more powerfull then the "free" ones. O.c. it is a card game with randomness involved and some strategie as well so yes you can win with only free cards but given enough samples the p2w faction should come ahead.
I dont like collectible card games of any kind for their money grabber scheme - and with physical cards there is at least the cost of producing and distributing them involved. But this specific topic would lead too far.

Old expansion model...? The ones were one expansion was at the price of a full game, was more expansive than any DLC on EU4 and had less contant than a mini-expansion DLC of EU4...? Yeah... the good old times with small overpriced expansions... who don't want them back?

The problem with the old expansion model was that you could only get updated fixes by buying the expansion, & also if you bought a subsequent one, needed any previously released to play it.

Funny how people always assume that people who cba to voice their opinions actually matter ...

I am sure that most of the time the silent majority actually has no opinion on the matter (thus .. the reason they dont actually express said opinion)

STOP CUTTING FEATURES FROM THE MAIN GAME AND RESELL IT AS DLC!!!!!!!!!
Soon when you load the game it will just say: " BUY DLC YOU MONEYBAG " and no, no gameplay. To get it you need spend 1000000000000000000000000000000000000$$$$$$$
Oh... you don't have enough money? Well @#$% you we don't need you :/
We need money to develop games!
Yeah? BULLCrap!!!
You sold 1000000 copies of CK2... MILLION. Each cost 40€......... YOU HAVE AT LEAST 40000000 € to support like what? 5 devs? and that's not enough?????????
At least in CK2 they didn't cut as much features.
BUT IN EU4 THIS DAMN DJOHAN FOUND NEW COSY WAY OF MAKING MONEY!!! HOORAY!!!!
What do we do? Simple! Develop a good game, sell it, THEN BUTCHER IT and sell it piece by piece AGAIN. No effort required.
Examples? EASY:
You was able to build y'know... some peace time activity y'know... building up y'know....... NOPE !!! TOO MUCH fun for "non-paying" users. Wanna build again? Well... 15€ YOU SACK OF Crap!!!
You was able to have vassals and personal unions... still wanna have them? 15€...
Same goes for colonies... 15€...
Oh yeah, if you need to actually get anything from them... another 15€!!!
Interesting trend the community points out every patch: ROTW is being nerfed every time! Looks like next DLC is called "Non-europe is actually fun now buy buy bUY!!!" Fascinating conspiracy... but it's true :(
Also how about PAY 2 WIN???? AKA "Art of War" their is no way people without this dlc can compete against people that do own it. I am not even going to mention anything more about it. You already know that singleplayer is being ignored. Exploiting multiplayer is more profitable... i guess...
Now about expansions yes you won't be getting new features, BUT game stays consistent, content won't suddenly disappear over night and get replaced by TERRIBLE BUGS CONSTANT CRASHES SHIT PERFORMANCE GOD DAMN.
If only i could go back to older versions but of course not they won't allow it, not in their interest.(EDIT: no longer relevant)
How the @#$% you expect me to support this company??? Huh? I dunno...

ADMIN EDIT: For Langauge
You do understand, that if they made all the features, they would release them together right, huge wave of money, not slowly, if they did it all at once they could retire now, instead they loyally keep dev'ing only to be bitched out (Sorry for language but it is true,) by some random scrub who cant seem to put together coherent sentences if their empire (Assuming probably falsely that you have ever achieved more than 1000 development, if you even know what that is) depended on it.
