could also be just that not the entire team that had worked on EU4 in Stockholm could/was willing to move to Barcelona, so they might simply need to find replacements for them.
Then again, "Engine Programmer" does sound pretty ambitious

I actually wish I had the qualifications needed to apply, but my years of web dev experience probably doesn't translate too well into C++ Engine Programming

The increase in jobs that do not seem related to the current state of development of the game's content (previously it was 3D environment designer, when the changes to the game's 3D environment since release have only been relatively minor) pretty much makes the claim that it's for EU4 seem unlikely.
That being said, I do wonder if perhaps the game's next incarnation will be given a different name than EU5, kind of how Rome 2 was rebranded as Imperator: Rome. Such rebranding could serve as additional catalyst to shift the focus less on Europe and more on the entire world.

I'd say it's unlikely, because Europa Universalis is a franchise and a brand at this point, with a huge following, still you could do some internal pivoting within this franchise. Who said that in "Europa Universalis" only Europe could be significant?
That said though, Europe will likely always stay the centre-point of all EU games, simply because of how interesting this region was during period of time historically, with its vastness, diversity, colonialism, technological progress etc, and obviously -> that's where by far the majority of EU4 players reside in. (the 2nd biggest region being the US, which are still heavily connected culturally and historically to Europe)

but anyhow, this is probably not the right place to discuss it
I'm just excited to see whatever comes next for this game & this franchise.

Sometimes i rly wonder if i did choose the wrong IT Part, i would love to work on PC Games, but you simply dont earn as much as Product Manager in Gaming as in "Real World Applications". (Banking, medical or goverment Software)

Even if they are working on a new game, that game isn’t necessarily EU5.

Also, if they made a new EU, it might not be EU5, but it would be EU something. EU is a huge name and as a successor to EUIV maintaining that is important.

Inperator made lots of sense to rebrand. First EU: Rome 2 is opening things to confusion. Is it a successor to EUIV? Is it a just a bit more than a mod of EUIV set in the Roman period? Is it based on EUII? So drop the EU name to make it clear it is a separate, different. Then you can’t just call it Rome 2, because that would be confused with the Total War title. It is also bland and not great for marketing as a common term. Imperator works much better.

None of that is an issue for EU5.

Imperator was rebranded because barely anyone knew the EU:Rome brand, plus it's not exactly great for branding if your name sounds like an expansion for another game. There's probably 0% chance of EU ever being rebanded given the cachet it's developed in the gaming market - Paradox has only gone on record that they don't particularly like the name 'Crusader Kings' because it emphasises only a slice of the gameplay but they've got to keep the name because of name recognition.

Besides outside of some parts of Asia, if you focused on any other region for the time period of EU, it simply wouldn't be EU. It'd be a radically different game. EU is about the era of European expansion/exploration.

What's this "diesel" you speak of?
Here in our glorious empire we just discovered the wonders of the steam engine, so I assumed that's what everyone was talking about, but it uses coal.

Speaking of which, it's truly a great wonder, but I feel we've yet to tap its true potential, imagine what it'll be like when the newly born princess Victoria reaches my old age... (Perhaps as Queen? Nah, too unlikely).
Now, if we do happen to have a Queen Victoria, it's very difficult to imagine what the world will be like when there's a Victoria II, and even further to a Victoria III (perhaps coronated on a sunny day in Barcelona?).
But that's probably just delusional at this point.
