And all your games spread out over three different services. Quite inconvenient.

Really it is just two services... Gamersgate is the "hard" copy producer for Paradox's games and I am fine with this digital distribution. Gamersgate is just a simple middle man to allow downloading of the game install, not intended to fully manage games like Steam

It doesn't stop you from adding a favorite shortcut link within Steam itself. I understand that the benefits of having Steam manage your games (for auotmatic updates etc), but again, given the nature of Paradox games and how different versions/expansions are not save game compatible, it is a lot easier to manage these different versions manually with seperate game installs which Steam does not current facilitate.

I haven't bought a cd/dvd copy of a PC game in probably over 3 years. Steam is a wonderful service, but Gamersgate is a better service as a means to get Paradox games.

I guess Paradox or Steam hasn't understand everything in the negations about HttT on Steam. It should have been in the "Coming Soon" section which it isn't so my guess is that one of them didn't get the other right.

I don't understand why people use steam. On every single forum about the few games I play including popular ones people always complain about steam and/or have some serious problems with patching or updating. Yet they still use it. What's the catch? :D

they have a bunch of awesome sales and shit, I've never personally had a problem with steam tbh.

The only problem I have with Steam is that I am at university and the network limits the speed you can download stuff off Steam. I installed Windows 7 last Friday and the ETA for the download was over 1 and a half weeks. If I had two computers and started the download then chances are I could take the other one home this Saturday and finish a new download before the one here finished.
