Chapter 1 : A War Ends, a New One Begins

wrlu0w.jpg

War was over, finally Canada, USA, Britian, and the other Allies are now victorious. Germany surrendered to the Allied nations and the Soviet Union in May 9th, 1945. It was then split up, creating British, American, and French sectors to the West, while the rest of Germany to the East was occupied by the Soviet Union. Now in the pacific Canada saw little action there. But on September 2nd, 1945, the Japanese Empire surrendered to the US forces in the area. Japan was soon after, quickly occupied by the US army, and Government. It was only after 2 new bombs called "atom bombs" were dropped on the to cities of Nagasaki, and Hiroshima, would Japan surrender.

Now we turn back to Canada. The People of Canada were quite happy hearing about the war ending, parades were held in major cities such as Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, and Halifax. But the Canadian Government, along with its Allies, knew that the happiness may soon end, as a new war dawned, and it could lead to the distruction of many nations. As many of the Allies saw it, the Soviet Union was a threat to the security of Europe and the free Democratic world. They knew the Soviets were willing to risk it all to have Western Europe and parts of Asia, under the red banner.

The Soviet Union.

On September 28th, 1945, Soviet troops crossed the border into West Germany, and fired shots upon Allied soldiers stationed in the area. The Soviets were pushed back as quick as possible. A day later the Allied Nations declared war upon the nations in the Commentern, which included the Soviet Union. Canada, as a part of the Allies, also delcared war on the Commentern.

Canadian troops stationed in Northern Germany, in the British sector, were told that they were to be sent to the front lines of the German campaign. The De-Militarlized Zone. The Soviets continued to attack there daily, the Canadians with the British forces, managed to stop the advance. Now around October 4th,1945, the situation in Germany is a stalemate, but the Allies think that the Soviets could break this anytime, and that they should be prepared for the worse.

The Canadian Government has told the industry to switch back to producing war material as the Canadians are going to need it to help in the war effort. The Canadians, are again preparing for another World War, which is destined to be worse then the last...

Chapter 2 : The State of The Nation

wro0a9.jpg

War has now started, and Canada has joined to help out the Allies in the war against the Commentern. So the Government quickly started up the military production program which just ended a month ago. The Industries in Canada were set to make war supplies, to help out the soldiers in West Germany, and the future soldiers which were to be sent in a short time. Canada's industries were quick to start production, and started producing 4 Motorized Divisions, and 1 infantry division. Those were to be completed in a few months, the Government just hoped Germany could be held for that long.

Now back in Germany the situation was going neutral at the time. Canadian divisions managed to succesfully hold out in in Lubeck, for a couple days. The Soviet divisions near the area were large in numbers but were losing moral and organization. This gave Allied forces the chance to strike back at certain positions to slow down the Soviet advance. Above Soviet and American bombers hit enemy positions for most of the day, and night bombings became a favorite for the Soviets as they could catch the Allies unprepared. Shocking news was heard on radio's and in papers, on October 2nd, 1945, the United States dropped another 2 Atomic Bombs, but this time they were dropped on Kuybyshev, and the capital of the Soviet Union, Moscow. The American public was in an uproar, about this attack, and the Soviet Union definatly wasnt pleased with this attack. Especially Stalin, who survived by hiding in a bomb shelter, he was furious.

wrxbmx.jpg

The Soviets continued to attack Lubeck. The British left the defense in the hand of the Canadians because they had other defenses to look after, the Soviets attacked again on the 4th of October, with 15 divisions, the Canadians were defending with only 4 and they managed to defeat the Soviets and send them back to Rostock. After the defeat of the Soviets at Lubeck, they managed to stay away from that region for a bit, while they worried about more improtant places, like Austria, Greece, and Southern Germany. The Canadians were clear for the time being.

Back at home, the Government was gaining support from the people of Canada, and many joined the war effort, by ethier volunteering for the army, or joining the factories that build the war material. Many of the streets of major cities were full of posters incouraging people to help out in the war effort as best as they can. Many people have heard rumors that the army is planning to send some Canadian expeditionary forces into Korea to help oout the Americans that are stationed there, the Americans say it is suppose to be worse then Germany, though many people disagree...

Chapter 3 : The Red Banner Shall Spread !!

wswdc7.jpg

The Canadian industry was slowly chugging along, and not much has progressed with it, but good news did come, 2 new divisions were ready for combat, and are soon to be sent into Europe along with the other 6 Canadian divisions that are stationed there, which are fighting the Soviets in the area. The Canadians in Lubeck were desperatly asking for reinforcements but the Government could only promise to send troops near the end of October, and in Mid November, so the Canadian forces in Lubeck would have to hold out with the soldiers they have stationed there.

wsvjhi.jpg

Canadian forces continue to fight, despite the casualties, and daily bombings.

The Canadian airforce at the time, was stationed in England, the Canadian airforce decided they that they should start thier own bombing attacks on the Soviet forces in Rostock, to slow down the Soviet attacks, and slow down the supply rate in Rostock. The Canadians sent 2 bomber squadrons, and 1 heavy bomber squadron. The air divisions were sent to Amsterdam, and from there they started attack Soviet possitions in Rostock. The RCAF attacked the Soviet possitions daily, weakening them, and forcing some Soviet divisions to pull out of the area.

wsw6k2.jpg

A Canadian bomber, based in Amsterdam.

On October 29th, 1945, Canadian possitions in Lubeck, were once again attack by the Red Army. The Soviets attacked the Canadian, and British forces with over 25 infantry, and armour divisions. The battle raged on for several hours, as the brave Canadian and British defenders fought street by street to keep what ever remaining territory they could grab, in the city. at 11:00 am that morning the Soviet forces managed to be sent back yet again by the Canadians and British. A couple days after this major battle, more nations sent thier armies to Lubeck, such as Turkey, Belgium, Liberia, and France, and the Canadians were given the word to pull back into Hannover, to meet with another 2 Canadian division, which recently arrived there from Halifax, Nova Scotia.

wswcxw.jpg

On November 12th, the Canadians arrived at Hannover, they were once again attacked by Soviet forces, several days later. The Soviets attemped to defeat the defenders of Hannover, and attempt to encircle the area, to destroy many Allied forces in the Northern part of Germany. The Canadians were alone on this one, and were defeated the first time around, they were sent back into Breman, and Hamburg, but the Canadians would stand for that for too long. Because on the following day the Canadians staged an offensive in Hannover, in which the 8 Canadians divisions fought against 2 weakend, Soviet divisions. The Canadians took the city in the first few hours, and the British also occupied the city to assist the Canadian forces.

Despite these victories by the Allies, the Commentern continue to push forward into Europe, and the Allies are having a hard time holding them back, many Generals and some Ministers say it wont be long before Europe falls, and there is no point for Canada to continue to fight...

The situation in Europe, November, 1945. (note Hannover is now under controll of the Allies not Soviets, and Munster is under Soviet control. Map needs to be updated)

While I have nothing against your average Soviet, Canada is the greatest country on Earth... so give 'em hell!

Maybe in a few years a Canadian D-Day will be necessary?

Indeed, however it's going to take something before that southern flank becomes a threat.

Agreed im not that worried about the South, im sure the French and Americans can hold it together for a while, and i do plan to send 3 motorized divisions and 1 infantry division to Europe (As seen in the production picture above). I would have sent 1 over to Korea, but it has already fallen to the Soviets :(
