The fallback mechanic is indeed quite problematic, stun up an 88 to allow a bomber to finish it off? Not going to work.
From my observations a 230kg bomb detonating just a few meters next to a retreating 88 in absolutely no cover will do the crazy amount of -1hp... im not sure if this is intentional or if devs just overlooked how much damage reduction modifiers can stack up.
Well since the game claims to have some realistic approach I'd like to see this being fixed.
I've noticed this problem too with rocket planes. Flak 88s are all but immune to direct fire anti-infantry rockets, which otherwise obliterate weapons teams. This is something that seriously needs fixing, as it means that when the 88 is stunned, airstrikes cannot be relied upon to inflict even moderate damage, forcing us to rely on artillery, which is not so great at
killing as it is at suppressing, or move a ground unit into range, exposing it to fire from enemy units, and if it's particularly unlucky, the 88 itself, once suppression wears off.
