I have the respectable land tech of 3.

They have 13.

Suggestions, professor and fellow students?

Overrun their infantry heavy armies with all cavalry armies and accept that you'll take heavy casualties in the fire phase. Just keep pouring in the cavalry till you have broken the back of their resistance. Hardly a sophisticated approach, but it should work. Even if you lose two battles out of three, when you win a battle you will inflict massive casualties, and can follow the retreating army until it is crushed.

And if you're an optimist, try to eliminate stacks due to extreme shockpower advantage in one of the favourable terrain types (10:1 needed? or was that EU1?). China can supply an awful lot of your foraging troops in some provinces, after all - why not use this to your advantage?

Hmm. Let me first begin by saying this: World conquest is dull. Ebbesen is a very good writer, because he manageds to make centuries of war and bloodshed interesting.

That didn't come out right.

Anyway.... Here's the conclusion, includig my horrible failure.

I regret to report that I did not succeed in uniting Germany. To make a long story short, heroic forces had conquered Africa. They had subdued Asia. They had taken the battle to the fearsome low aggressiveness natives of Australia.

They were then wiped out by the hordes of European troops. Perhaps I should explain it better.

From the start, my diplosliders had been creating a decentralized, narrow-minded, slave state. While good for stab (in retrospect this wasn’t a problem) it caused my tech to be far, far, far below that of Europe. So when my armies met there’s in 1650…..

The following happened.

“Orrissa has been besieged by England.”

”Sunda has been besieged by the Netherlands”

“Kamkatcha has been besieged by Russia.” This despite the fact that there were dozens of empty provinces between us.

“Alexandria has been besieged by Venice.”

And so on and so forth. War exhaustion hit in, and I watched in horror as my tech 9 armies were crushed by France’s forces of 1000 men. As war exhaustion hit 14%, revolts flared up at home and abroad. Poor government policies, a wave of obscurantism, and a political crisis results in a horrible state of the nation. The game ended with the government’s collapse, and the Dutch ruling most of China.

Thus, professor, I am sorry to report that despite my monopoly on India ink and the manpower of Asia, I was unable to succeed in conquering the world.

If anyone needs me, I’ll be signing up for the class on how to hold the world hostage with superweapons.

...Too bad. Tentative conclusion: Extremely bad luck, uncoordinated attack on Europe, or not enough cavalry. Probably the latter. Request student termination pour encourager les autres*.

Hmm. Let me first begin by saying this: World Conquest is interesting....

...And World Conquest is fun - when you are telling a story, that is, and let the narrative imperative drive some of your decisions against what you know would, objectively, be the smartest course. (While not abandoning your stated goal, of course. You are not attempting a tragedy, after all, although it may turn into one in time) :D

1650. Then Europe had land tech ~24. It would have been smart to level your land tech to 14 from 9 during a decade and a half of skirmishes, so you wouldn't have been fighting 2 CRT levels behind. And since European powers won't usually declare war on you unless you either border them somewhere in the world or own land on the continent of Europe, you should have been capable of stalling them.

Anyway, nice try. To each player his own idea of fun. :)

Hopefully I read this thread.

I too wants monopoly on Tea (for a different reason), and I begin to make the same mistake, first province annexed = 8 BB. Far too much

I'll watch my BB and construct cavalry, cavalry, cavalry...

Yeah, a unified India owning Germany would have been a great watch! Looking forward to more WC AARs from your side.

Hopefully you have "learned" something from this and can achieve TWC next time :).

TWC = Total World Conquest
