So, a friend of mine who just started playing the game was here yesterday and asked me how to win the HYW as England. I blundered a little bit, but still managed to grab the PU, leaving with a very stable position (much better than I usually do - around 10 loans, 2 stability, 6 exhaustion and even some bit of manpower left). Edward then died pretty early, leaving me with a decent (232) but long regency and an even better heir (615).
As soon as that heir got into the throne I declared on Scotland and both Irish minors, which were all allied. Things were going as planned when suddenly my heir died (just 16 years of age!) and this happened:

From such an absurdely lucky start, I was thinking to attempt a WC. Never had the patience to try it, but I guess it's a waste to not at least try it once, esp with this stupid start. So, where do I go from here?
1) I just got my first NI group. I wanted to go Humanism, Exploration, Expansion, Quantity (pretty standard for a colonial game, I guess) before the 666 king happened, but I believe becoming the HREmperor is the correct play in a WC attempt, and I don't know whether I need something like Influence or not to make it happen - I expect to do LOTS of vassalfeeding, but that might not start happening until later when I get to work on Sunni lands or whatever. Also, do I actually need to colonize, or attack + vassalize Portugal and let them do the job for me? Which ideas do I get later?
2) I intend to core the whole British Isles in this war (got claims on almost all of it), and then let France do all the coring in the continent until I inherit it (I figure I need to get bigger so France doesn't try to break free - right now it's atitude is vassal, but that might change once the truce from HYW ends). This way I get all the AE I'll ever get inside the HRE early, and could be theoretically able to start working on the HRE around 1500ish once it dissipates.
3) If I start hitting Castile hard and early, so I can stop them and Portugal from colonizing (and potentially vassalizing them later to get all the colonies they do plant), do all the AE preclude me from getting the HREmperor in any way?
Thanks!
