So as stated in other threads ive avoided the mission spoiler sections but tuned into the rearm/refit footage to get an idea of whats up. And like many im concerned the salvage/challenge of the game will be too low for someone of my expirence with the universe/beta combat. So im thinking of conditions to add to my honestman playthrough that will up the challenge.

So far heres my basic concept...

1. No save scumming for RNG effects. I will still reload for bugs or for moments the game isnt clear about whats going to happen (xcom 2 jumping through windows it said it wasnt going to use anyone?).

2. CT cored mechs of mine will be scrapped instead of refitted. Meaning i will get whatever small payout/salvage return and will effectively lose an entire mech.

Any other ideas?

Hard to say forsure without seeing first hand how insane it is for salvage income.

The 3 pieces to form 1 complete mech in general i sort of like. Its an easy way to book keep a LL/La from 1 mech, RA/RL from a 2nd kill and then the 3rd kill perhaps you core the ct but you dont destrpy the engine, maybe the structure is just compromised to the point the machine cant function. So enemy salvage i may operate as normally with. I exprct id be earning alot of free mechs but i should be losing a fair number as well

The main thing is i want strife. I want tension. And upon hearing that our mechs are never truely lost to enemy action will likely sap my enthusiasm for the game mid point.

Everything seems perfect about this game beyond the need to cater to casuals. Which i get. But i MUST be able to edit the game, or toggle a challenge mode box, or self govern my own set of rules or otherwise i wont enjoy it as much. Lol

Big thing is i loved in mw2 mercs when there was a chance to salvage a mech. It was rare. Exciting and you never knew forsure until the screen popped up. This game may be more predictable, which is okay in its own rate. But i dont want a hanger full of assaults and no consequences for poor play. Id rather lose and restart then stop caring halfway through.

I may or may not use the morale abilities. I know the enemy uses abilities from skills so I will use those. I don't believe the enemies have anything like that.

I kinda like them. But if I think they are to cheap I'm pretty sure there's a JSON to meddle with.

Mostly I think I'll go with scrapping my own cored out mechs and the same ironmanish as descriped in the OP.
Also I consider hardpoints to have size limitations.

Happy to see others considering this. Anyone with basic battletech info is going to have a huge advantage versus the stock game. If anyone else has great ideas post em up :) maybe once the files are out we can find someone to make us a little mod pack....

I would just sell those off. Use only pieces gathered from stores, headcapping, and legging to complete a mech.

If you only use Mech parts from mechs where you destroyed the legs (since headshots are very rare), you will probably have 3 CTs but no legs. Seems rather strange ;)

To the store: From what i saw, they are not only expensive, but they are also on the lower end. If your lance is mediums, you dont need Commando, Locust and Spider parts

I think a salvaged mech should be put together, but stripped, or in a random state of disrepair, and certainly not with a full kit on it. Afterall, you did just take 3 parts of 3 broken mechs and put it back together. Your techs got it's skeleton back together and made it back into a mech, but now you gotta pay to kit it out again.

Id be ok with it being a 0 armor, full internal 0 anything else hull of a mech, which we then need to further spend time and money out fitting.

Im okay with it coming with gear mounted IF you own the gear needed to make the stock variant. But in that case it should take some amount of service time, even if it was a seperate queue from the normal track

Honestly, id rather it come stock and naked, that way we dont have to pay to take stuff off it, change it,then put w/e we want back on it. Im pretty sure just putting stuff on it would be cheaper and faster then having to take stuff off and then put our own loadout on it.

A couple of quick JSON mods:
  • Increase visual range of turrets
  • Increase durability of turret generators (perhaps dramatically)
  • Increase durability of vehicles

Yeah, I noticed most vehicles went poof in one turn during streams. There are weak vehicles in BattleTech, but often than not I've had vehicles survive first hits and simply become immobile (motive hit damage), while still being able to fire. I wonder if they added motive hits that cause immobility?
