The unfortunate happened to me: my heir got shot during a hunting party and one year later the old king died himself. So Gelre (me) ends in a PU with France.

I know that at next succession their prestige should be below 0 or Gelre should dislike France in order to end this situation.

Concerning the latter: I can only think of putting him as a rival and excommunicating him (we are both catholic) or maybe change to another religion.

I wonder if there is a special case in my situation. I own all the provinces in order to form The Netherlands. Does this end the PU? And what about the special event in which you can form the Dutch Republic? Does this end the PU (if it is at all possible to fire). It is now 1482 or something.

As far as i remember you can't rival the pu senior partner. I would go republic and elige my own leader, or fight my way to indipendence (i prefer the second since i can't live without pu xD)
