I have started an England/GB game and a Milan/Italy game, both with Random New World on. After colonizing some 25-30 colonies in the new world I had gotten allmost exclusively fish and naval supplies as trade goods (1 cotton)
Maybe this should go in the bugs thread, because it realy seems like a bug.
I even tried reloading 10 times and every time I got fish

It may be simply luck, I never encountered such a thing (played a GB and an Aztec game last week and colonies were balanced for both.)

Ha ha, love the link.

I don’t think it’s possible to THAT unlucky in two different games.
The two games that I have experienced this in were both Ironman games that lost the Ironman mode (a known and reported bug) and had issues with trade goods remaining unknown in fully developed colonies (also a known bug).
So I don’t know if these bugs are related, but if nobody else is seeing this issue, maybe I should try reinstalling the game. Will this help in any way? Are there are map cache or something that might “reboot” the map/trade good generation?

Look before you leap...

Trade goods are determined by the region the province is located in. If you are colonizing a lot of Northeastern North America, Greenland, etc type areas then you'll get fish, furs, and trees. If you colonize the Caribbean, Southeastern United States, etc you'll get Cotton and Tobacco...

Cotton and other agricultural stuff is probably a little too rare in the southeast US. New England should be mostly finish and naval supplies (in fact that was one of the main reasons the British were interested in New England, since Britain had been heavily deforested). But I am seeing a decent amount of Tobacco in the southeast - but there should be more Cotton, probably.
