To French perm:
After a few quick lost battles against Venice I gave up giving him Savoy. The situation seemed impossible once the OE joined. I spent most of the time heavily improving forts all over France, and especially at the borders.
I traded enough to double the income I had at start.
I completed all the colonies in Canada and upgraded Legal Counsels all over there.
I took over an island in Indonesia and made cities in all but 1 province, also upgrading everything there. Got cores too.
I made tps all over Madagascar and got me the cores, so that should be the next project to colonize, once you get rid of the natives.
I annexed an Indonesian minor, and recommend you should convert that province along with Malacca with points.
Army is at support limit and so is the navy. There is a good warchest along with very good historical leaders. The Ottoman Empire are having high revolt risk, so the situation is excellent for war. Since you have both colonial and mainland cores on Venice, stabhitting should not be a problem.
I moved Plutocracy and Centralisation.
I mostly teched navally, as Spain urged me to build up a good navy. Land was at Ahead of Time anyway.

The only problem is manpower. You should try to either get population up to 20K in provinces that are lower (only in Europe of course). Then you should raise manpower with points in strategical provinces, like Paris and Champagne for example. Then build CCs there when you get LT41.

You can't claim a new culture but you can remove it.

And boy, what a war. The naval part played a huge part of it and it shows in the stats. 1000 ottoman galleys 850 venetian ships killed in action, not too shabby if I do say so myself. I am surprised I managed to kill that many considering you had cut my navy in half and posted 1200 ships in gibraltar. But some tricky manouevers payed off and I managed to chase both the ottoman and ventian navy into the sea. Didn't show in the warscore though since I had 1 galleys pasted over the area and they died off.

I could probably have kept going against Venice after the peace with OE but my income had fallen too much and it wasn't worth 1 or 2 provs.

A fact that is either an imbalance of the mod, a poor effort by the French player or the effect of a weak power-balancing diplomatic structure. And I am pretty clear about what I think about this mod anyway ;)

In other games with this mod, France was the superpower. Even in this game, France started extremely well but the perm stopped attending consistently and France steadily took on the road of decline.

To be honest, this game had a hard time being balanced from the start, without a Prussia and Sweden only coming in on the end. To top that, OE and Russia are allowed to claim cultures at ease in Asia, so their MP is ridiculous. Also the general mood of the mod encourage trading and teching rather than war. The recent war over Savoy? Tens of thousands of ducats spent for 1 province; it doesn't pay off. Then we played another 20 years and not even 1 war (save Austria's miserable attempt). Why? Because people are too afraid to lose their trade income, so we're just sitting around and building forts, killing AI, trading, building manus, colonising... getting even higher income that we are afraid to lose. A war will have to give about 10-15 provinces to even pay off.

Well that's why I don't like Watkabaoi. I mean, Medium forts all over the colonies? That's not a good sign.

I am not saying that a certain country has the advantage; I say that the mod is unbalanced, especially with the points system that was not changed since the first game's obvious misconceptions.

I can agree with you on OE. Despite having been AIed for the first century and deprived of its European part, it still had all that potential. OE's MP surely is ridiculously high but on the other hand the trader nations also have an advantage in that their yearly income is comparatively massive. 13k for Spain despite being embargoed from half of the global COTs is pretty extreme.

Yes, I agree 100%. Trade is on this mod far, far too rich. There are four CoTs over 1000. It was the same last game; trading nations had all the money and OE and Russia had all the manpower.

Trade and tech needs to be toned down, the former heavily! In general, the lower the revenue of being at peace is, the more wars will be conducted.

I had 6 War Exhaustion, and I thought that's why you DoWed me. However I knew you would give up pretty easy if I managed to beat off your first attack. Seems my forts managed to do that good enough. Only half a battle for all that "war" :D

i know that, my first assaults on the other france, which wasw way more prepared, werent all succesful, yet i went onwards. But with austria, i didnt knew if lurken would aprove of it, so i waited 2years in uncertain of it, and well, even tho 2 of the assaults were won, a third lost, and a 4th with a cav army, which i mistaked by the inf one i had nearby, obviously failed, i just felt compelled to peace, becaues mats gave me beating in the other game :<

Actually, my waiting period wasn't that much about keeping my income. It was more about building forts, rebuilding my country and trying to find new ways to take on the enemy without being vurnable or things ending in stalemates. I could've dowed but it seemed stupid with only 20 minutes left or so. Better to start fresh in the beginning of a session.

Also, Tortuga Island is fucked up. 50 pirate warships there. I need a full navy to take it down soon.
