It's unclear for me: Can we also pump water from just the ground instead of river? It's kinda normal to pump water from under the earth instead of the river. Layers of dirt, rocks and clay function like a filter.

Would love aquafier pumps indeed... in my country it's very normal.... (we have river inlets too).
Also (I know its a game balance thing), water pumped from rivers isn't exactly pristine.... a big water treatment plant is needed.. would love to see that too (might be in the game, just never seen it)
