Hey all,
I wanted to express a concern and was wondering if you all were thinking the same way I am, that the Ottomans have walked out of CoS into 1.24 stronger than they were previously by the mid-game.
They have extremely high development before holding any territory outside of anatolia, caucasia, the Crimea (which they always get for free, somehow) and the levant. They don't blob into Africa and beyond anymore, at least not so early, but their total development is much, much higher thanks to all the provinces that were added. I think this makes them very, very hard to deal with as a horde, seeing as once they got the Crimean territory(they will), your diplomacy with them is done and they'll war you until they take Beijing.
I think it's time for a proper nerf to come to them, and a proper change be made to the game: change the culture group of the Turkish to outside of levantine. I think them not having a cultural union over all the land they conquer would be sufficient to their base tax to stop them in the mid-game. Also there's a LOT less in common between Turks and Egyptians than Bavarians and Franconians.
Why am I salt? (you may skip this part)
I'm playing a Mongolia game and am finishing off Ming, finally. I have ~3k development. It's ~1630, and I literally can't beat the Ottomans. They just war me, kill a super Lithuania I'm allied to, all the Indian majors I have allied send troops into the endless Ottoman armies and I basically get carpet sieged and have to die once my army is destroyed and economy in the toaster. Even fighting with a good army in the steppe, only one tech behind in ~1630, with mil. ideas, I CAN NOT beat them. That's with all the army I can muster. I save scummed and went back because once I weakened down, Ashikaga thought it'd be funny to invade Mongolia and not die in a tornado.
"Historical realism... blah blah" since when were the Ottomans so rich and powerful they could march 100k guys into Siberia and kill a tribe of nomads while also containing their very unstable nation? It just doesn't make sense. No less into scorched, frozen land. I'm not even sure Siberian cities can contain that many people in 2017...
Will they be toned down? Yes, yes... the game needs a "boss" but when that "boss" is unstoppable, it really is too frustrating.
PS I am on hard, so Western European alliances are not going to happen until they send a colonist to the spice islands... just get that squared away.
