I've been away from EUIV for a few patches, and now the hundred years war doesn't seem to be active at game start. Is this normal or what?
Was the hundred years war removed?

There is an event "HYW ends" if France regains it's cores. I don't know what's the requirement for England tho, probably PU?
Ok so here is how it works.
Historically, apparently the HYW was at a ceasefire/truce during the start date, which the rpesent situation is trying to emulate. France is still obligated to conquer it's cores back from england, at which point the event for england to revoke cores fires.
Conversely, England has to get powerful enough to subjugate france under a pu (conquer to an adequate size) at which point they get a cb to enforce the pu. I forget the exact wording. If they win, well they have won the HYW.
This was changed because often you would win the war, but not be strong enough to keep france under control and they would just pimp slap you asap.
It has changed a lot of strategies since you can now form alliances and position yourself before going for the kill.

That's actually a good question, I hadn't thought about that implication...
Is it even possible anymore? I've never seen it happen when the AI is England/GB, even when they womp France they never get a PU and no notification of the 100 years war ending is indicated.
Mhm. With the truce in effect and France being weaker than usual in recent patches, it's a great time to play a continental England game.
Mission that can be chosen if conditions are met:
England must:
- have >= Infantry vs France.
- have >= Cavalry vs France.
- have >= provinces vs France.
- own at least 1 core in French region.
- not have a truce or be at war with France.
- not have fired 'end of HYW' event and chosen to give up cores.
- not be a subject, neither can France.
All except 'equal or more cavalry' are met in 1444. Gets you restore union CB, the one with lower AE.
P.S. nobody will join a Force PU war on a nation that has Great Power status. Need to get rid of that first.
Given the war of spanish succession it is likely that nations would do far more than just not join you against France..
Not all fighting was removed. Delhi still gets Bahlul Lodi as a pretender rebel who owns provinces and enforces his demands within 2 weeks.
Historical though.
Rebels ain't a war, which is specifically what he said was removed.
Which is why I said 'fighting' and not war.
So why post at all?
