Was the gold mine in Morocco really THAT important?

The event chain is not about ending the famine but enjoying the advantage of it with having a mine outside of Europe. It gives that mine a goods produced modifier so you can take advantage of the lack of silver and gold in Europe. Any mine outside of Europe seems logical and the event seems fine as it is to me.

Why would you move your home node to ivory Coast when your control of sevilla will increase and so you can benefit from Spain's colonies? Even if Spain half Asses colonialisation then sevilla will become the most valuable node in the world and so you can get global trade spawn there.

Conquering Mali early on is hard due to the tech not being so different, and as you don't get auto claims you're wasting lots of ADM and dip that could be spent on exploration and then getting expansion unlocked early on.

If not MP then the loans you accrue in the time to past Cape is easily payable once you've taken kilwas centre of trade
When you have 90% control of the trade flowing though Ivory Coast and 50% control over Sevilla, you want to be collecting in Ivory Coast. I don’t know if I would move my trade capital, but definitely collecting there for a good portion of the game if I don’t seize Castille early. and even when I don’t collect there, making sure nobody else is present there siphoning that income is quite valuable.

The few provinces needed to take Mali’s gold mines aren’t going to cost enough Monarch points that it is going to significantly delay you very much. Nor are the various West African tags a challenge to beat with Portugal early. I guess if they did some insane early colonization it could be tougher.

Your main delay to getting around the Cape will be waiting for colonies to finish anyway.

The thing is the famine was ended before with new mining technology developed in central europe. In Saxony it boomed, Luther grew up in a mining city for example. They found out how to keep deeper mines dry. Also Bohemia developed well and Austria. The new found African and New World gold then made for a massive surplus and for spain a catastrophic inflation problem (which should kick in if you get inflation over 10 as any european nation makes it more important to keep that in check).

There's some good events hidden in the files, but they require stab - 3 so will rarely happen, like non Western tags having Palace coups with the son deposing the father if high war exhaustiation

Should be a real disaster I mean Spain never truly recovered even until today ( I mean as great Power Spain is a very beautiful country with rich culture and history). The old glory days were forever gone.

It was a significant source of silver in the Middle Ages (and is not negligible today).

But it was also tied to the European economy already (there was plenty of trade between the Islamic and Christian worlds).

So I think the bullion famine should not be ended by it. The Malian good mines I would say are arguable. But Kilwa or New World seems best to me.

Perhaps you could specify the gold mine needs to be at least X trade nodes from Genoa or Venice?
