In the Nintendo reveal trailer, first of all I was watching that for Animal Crossing, but seeing the PDX logo made me jump out of my chair in excitement. Nice surprising announcement.
Anyway we see a rather portly gangster in shadow. Was that Al Capone? And if it was, does that mean Chicago is the setting? Being from an old Chicago immagrant family, my family was involved in a lot of that era, for good or ill.
That setting would be amazing as often gangster themed games focus on the Italian Mafia in New York, instead of the Windy City. Chicago is America's third biggest city, and has a very unique culture and aesthetic. The suburb of Cicero was entirely run by Capone, and ite such as the St. Valentine's Day Massacre provide lots of ideas. Even the isometric treatment would be nice.
