Was Scandinavia ever reworked and if not, when will they rework it ?

Norse religion was very dead even at the start of EU4. adding it would be like adding hellenistic pantheon for greeks and italians.

There is already a norse religion but they don't exist at any date, only on RNW. Shane Hellenism is DLC locked to the CK II converter.

Yes, but there is no way to get it in your game, without random new world or something custom nation generator. It should not be possible for the religion to appear in a regular campaign.

Really, the Scandinavian country that most needs reworked is Scandinavia. There should be more incentive to forming it. It needs new missions and events.

It could at least use some good ideas.

But playing in Scandinavia is still fun.

You can play the Empire game if you want to go full WC.

If you want to play tall the North Sea is actually a great trade node but takes a lot of work to get functioning.

Compared to SSA were you can just blob.

I like playing in Scandinavia. I just don't like playing as Scandinavia. You lose all of your flavor events and generally only harm yourself by forming it.

For sure but i think if they just got some better ideas it wouldnt be so bad because there is at least self directed flavor for them.

They can join the empire which gives lots of powerful rewards or if you want to see mad ducats they have two options for easy trade nodes to control in the white and North Sea.

I'm not saying they couldnt use a rework every TAG could but even if you form the Kalmar Union you still have stuff to do

I have never played as Norway but they can colonize with out taking exploration?

Thats crazy they might be the only country were colonizing is actually worth it.

Sweden still needs a proper peasant estate, as far as flavour content in that region goes. It didn't have one before the estate reworks, and it still doesn't afterwards.

It was one of the few countries in Europe that let landholding peasants have their own estate in the national diet throughout this period.

Also some map rework is welcome - most of Scandinavia is full of poor 3-province states. And for me trash-state with 5 provinces is better that trash-state with 3.

However, the Livonians and Teutonians in the south are screaming for attention too.

Scandinavia is fairly defined. Generally just Norway, Sweden and Denmark. The problem I think lies in, do you only include the modern countries or also the area they once owned.

I always felt that it is entirely deliberate that Scandinavia (TAG) is undesirable. The AI is even set to never form it if I recall correctly.

I must have hallucinated all the times I've seen the AI form Scandinavia then.

It would be nice to see the Scandinavian countries get some more attention. At the moment - not sure if it just me, but Sweden 75% of the time fails to gain independence and is usually slowly gobbled up by Denmark.

As an aside, I was reading about the Scandinavian settlement of Greenland, and the text I was reading seemed to imply the colonies didn't go fully extinct until the mid 15th century - arguably within the timeframe of EU4. Just a thought - I'm not sure whether it would make sense to have those provinces "owned" in 1444, but maybe an event soon after prompting either a heavy investment to "restore" settlement or abandon Greenland?

I wonder if any Scandinavian ruler wanted to unite the region but not in the form of the already established Denmark, Sweden, Norway or as a restoration of the Kalmar Union - how historical is the "Scandinavia" tag compared to a "Kalmar Union" tag? I'd prefer there being no Scandinavia tag, but a Kalmar Union tag that can be formed under special circumstances.

But there was a sizeable population following Zorostrianism concentrated in some places in Persia by 1444. Can the same be said about Norse religion? Was there any place with a majority of Norse religion followers with a sizeable population?

Scandinavia is the definition of 3 province states since over half the area is nearly empty.
