I have been playing Norway lately, its really fun but without a mission tree its a little bit stale.

Was Scandinavia ever reworked and if not, when will they rework it ?

We have updated our Community Code of Conduct. Please read through the new rules for the forum that are an integral part of Paradox Interactive’s User Agreement.
Some minor changes to the map and some minor changes to there NI have been Done. But nothing major Scandinavia is currently somewhat lackluster.

Yes, scandinavian TAGs probably miss some flavor through unique mission trees. About national ideas, I don't think they need a buff of any kind. Then if you play as Denmark the job is in a certain way already done. For this reason it's one of the country I hate the most to play, along with Ming.
Speaking about the map, Scandinavia already benefits from the Miller cylindrical projection, that's enough.

I would like to have missions for denmark to invade england and france.
for sweden, eastern expansion would be cool
and norway more focused on colonizing missions.

Denmark and Sweden allready have more unique events than 80% of the countries in the world. There are entire continents that haven't been touched in half a decade, and aren't working properly. Those should come before "Norway".

I'm not saying "DO SCANDINAVIA FIRST !!!!!!!!", I was just wondering if they got any updates, all I saw in the forums was Africa and SEA so I thought Scandinavia got one but they don't have anything, I was just wondering man.

Really, the Scandinavian country that most needs reworked is Scandinavia. There should be more incentive to forming it. It needs new missions and events.

The last time that Scandinavia was the largest focus of a patch was 1.19. There's a few minor changes throughout the patches since, but largely there content hasn't been touched that much since 1.19.

I hope the devs are lining up for a larger update for Scandinavia maybe not a whole expansion, but something on the level of ambition as 1.29 was for Manchuria, Korea and Japan. Perhaps even pulling someone like the Hussites from the Emperor update, but with the Norse religion in Norway instead.

The rest of Europe that wasn't in 1.30 really just doesn't have extensive mission trees. They are equal otherwise.

1.25 was the patch that introduced mission trees, thus most nations that had a focus before this patch dont have unique missions.

Without mods Scandinavia is extremely meh and thanks to changes in how cultural unions work and the ugly flag there's zero reasons to actually form it. I recommend the Missions Expanded mod, it adds a fairly insanely huge mission tree to SCA.

Scandinavia and Ottomans both feel like they missed out on content in Emperor. I know they're not HRE focused, but they're both nearby and extremely relevant to the region and politics.
Also with Scandinavia tag, it requires admin tech 20 for some reason. There's no gameplay benefit to forming it so this restriction to only mid-late game feels out of place.

I always felt that it is entirely deliberate that Scandinavia (TAG) is undesirable. The AI is even set to never form it if I recall correctly.

Norse religion was very dead even at the start of EU4. adding it would be like adding hellenistic pantheon for greeks and italians.

I've been told that there were some small communities of norse pagans up in the Norwegian mountains for quite a few centuries after christianity became the state religion, but I'm working on finding sources to support that claim.

Sweden rose to power during the Thirty Years' War, which is entirely relevant to Emperor's focus.
Ottomans are more of a stretch, I acknowledge that. They probably deserve their own expansion to be honest.

The focus was Western and Central Europe. Not northern Europe. Teutonic Order didn't get any missions, Livonian order didn't. Poland didn't get reworked etc.
The nature of Scandinavia is generally tied more with Eastern Europe than Western and Cental Europe with I guess the 30 years war being the exception.
The Great Northern War for example was completely seperate from the War of the Spanish Succession.

Even if there were a handful of Norse pagans in the Norwegian mountains, they wouldn't have been a province majority, nor would've they had any means to re-paganize the Nordic lands.
