Was crisis of Ming dynasty changed resently?

Asking cause i don't remember it being SUCH a SHIT SHOW. 150k manpower down and still far from finish. Feels like another Mali now. So was is it my imagination that it was easier before or did they really changed it to this dumpster fire?

It's more difficult. It's meant to actually make Ming implode.

If you don't want the disaster you can:
1) opt to not be the emperor
2) Be prepared for said 'shit show' (full manpower, BIG bank, troops stationed correctly and spread out enough to take on rebels, enough/more forts)
3) Not take a reform during the age of reformation

Edit: As rightfully pointed out, point 3 is wrong.

It say "Not age of discovery" so any age past discovery - so what you can get in discovery is yours and everything past that is not worth it then.
