Too true :( But I think that it's actually to the AAR's credit, because some of the people it did attract, such as Jeep, Xanadu, and Mariani, were not normally inclined towards the AAR forum.

I am gonna have to agree with this statement :). I do not consider myself much of a writer, but the way the Italy AAR practically demanded your input it was impossible to not be sucked into the story :)
Warspite's vision (which IIRC was inspired by the RPG scenerio gone bad ;) ) has definitely shaped how the AAR section would continue into the futurre.
I have to thank Warspite for roping me into the epic saga of the Doge , and his court :D

BTW Warspite...what ever happened to your original Japanese AAR? ;) :D

Bruce had just posted this when my illness began so I never got the chance to properly reply to the thread when it was stickied up at the top, but I did want to add my 2 ducats' worth into the mix.

My own involvement with the forum was just beginning when Jerry took his several month leave, so I didn't know very much about "Warspite" other than that the veterns around here held him very high regard. It wasn't until later that I began to learn what a genrous person he is, how much he cares for the forum, and how hard he strives to make it one of the most dynamic places on the board.

Having the pleasure of meeting Jerry in person several weeks ago when he flew into Toronto for a couple days, I can tell you that he's an articulate man with a deep interest in seeing this place continue to grow and expand to better the enjoyment of all. His unparalleled enthusiasm and interesting ideas are sure to succeed since I get the sense that when he puts his mind to making something work, he will find a way - come hell or high water - of making it happen.

I've been reading Jerry's recent AARs with great interest; seeing his recent short play as a very good forray into a difficult writing style evolve rapidly into a first-rate artistic work, and I really like the overall presentation style he is using with the various components of the Byzantium Encyclopeadia.

His new and totally original gameplay style has also opened up a whole new facet of the game for me, and shown me that even when the al' tried and true methods start getting a little too boring, there's always a new way to challenge yourself and tackle the seemingly impossible.

It is also a measure of the man that his concern for my health inspired him to give me phone call to see how I was doing and chat about various things for an hour earlier today. It's nice to get that sort of caring and friendship from someone I've only met the one time but am very happy to count amount my friends.

So congratulations on this most deserved honour, Jerrry.

WHAT A GAME!

WHAT A MODERATOR!

WHAT A GUY!
