Warscore has almost zero to do with when the AI will make peace.

Supposedly, the AI makes peace based partially on their military strength v. you and partially based on warscore. I have never been able, however, to get another great power to accept any kind of terms at less than 50% warscore.

Usually its in your best interest to just wait the AI out. Eventually they will make a ludicrously favorable offer to you.

At which warscore deficit does the ai generally accept a peace offer?

I am currently in a colonial war as the US against the UK and have a warscore of 24%, still the British won't accept a white peace.

it's crazy to say this but sometimes the enemy will accept peace when I've impressed him. There's no cheat, no other fuss, here's my story,

I was Austria and in a set of BB wars. I got peace and was revamping my economy, all a sudden Russia dow'd me - again,

I mobilised my humonguous army and I marched to the line. With one extreme battle I whiped out an entire Russian army, I occupied the province and immediately afterwards, I asked a white peace and Russia accepted!

I was happy man, the Russian war exhaustion was below 5% but anyhow they settled for a white peace!

If I want peace and I try to "impress" the Ai , I ask for peace. The above example states that there's a small to get peace,

Warscore is misleading, though not entirely meaningless. You need to look at three factors:

1) Number of troops in your army and theirs
2) War Exhaustion
3) War Score

IMO, in order of importance to the AI. There's no real deficit at which they will accept an offer like there was in EU or EU2. If you want them to peace with you, destroy as many army divisions as you possibly can to raise their war exhaustion and the ratio of your forces to theirs.

JScott's right on getting the best offers. The AI will typically reject, say, a 20% war score peace offer only to offer you 30% a few weeks later. The only downside to that method is my obsession with clean looking borders. :)

I, for one, thought 1.02 was a step in the right direction. Generally, I like the economy and I really like the new naval combat system. However, my number one wish for 1.03 is a new peace offer system that is more transparent. I'd like to be able to see exactly what offer the AI is likely to accept. Instead of just showing war score, it would say something like, "Based on the current military situation, our enemies would likely accept a peace offer of [xx]." Ideally, there would also be a breakdown of how exactly war score, war exhaustion, and unit ratios are effecting this.

Mee too. That is why I cant stand most peace offers from the AI. They usually offer you some out-of-the-way province along with the ones you want.

I fight very few wars as France, but I've noticed that the AI's offers are better than the offers in EU2. Whenever I am at war with Italy or Belgium, they typically offer only provinces contiguous with France or containing Frenchmen. It doesn't work perfectly, but it works than EU2 when the AI did usually offer non-contiguous provinces, sometimes even when they werent' occupied.

I've been playing Victoria since about two days after it came out in the U.S. Overall, I've been enjoying this game immensely. But, a few items are subtracting from my enjoyment. First of all, the POPs system is driving me nuts. Especially with the new 1.02 economic rules, production is often low, and the world market is a joke sometimes.

But, on the subject of this thread, I've had problems trying to get peace. Sometimes, everything seems to work fine, and peace treaties go easily. After you and your allies have conquered the entire country and the enemy is begging for peace.

But, in the last game I played, I was unable to get a peace treaty until I offered to give one province up. That sounds reasonable, and yet, the build-up to it was insane. First off, Britain decided to declare a colonial war on me against my African colonies. Fine, I could understand their actions. I was able to quickly take a few colonial provinces, and hold them back on the rest of the front. Why try for white peace when I can get something out of it? Then Egypt declares Colonial War. I had no hope, especially with the British fleet blockading me, and then the Egyptians joining in.

But, things improved over time. I had a fleet of ironclads on the way at the start of the war, with England still using MW and FR. Our first battle was inconclusive, as they had VASTLY superior numbers. But, after doing some quick repairs, we sailed out again. To our surprise, the English were gone. I quickly loaded up as many divisions as I could and set off for the African coast. Egypt promptly gave me a Peace Treaty giving them all the provinces I had that shared their border. Oh well, I'll get 'em later. Britain held on. Or didn't, as it ended up.

I ended up controlling all of Britain's African possessions. I destroyed almost every ship in the British Navy. Britain, at the time fighting China, had weariness at around 59%. My War Score was at 34%. And they refused any White Peace. I had to GIVE them something to end the war. (I ended it because my weariness was, likewise, exceptionally high and I was sick of the entire affair)

Certainly, I ended up using my concentrated forces to cream Egypt in a lightning style advance up the Nile, but you'd think Britain would've been more interested in signing a simple White Peace, let alone giving up a province or two. Maybe they were just waiting for their hidden 100 or so divisions of partisans to pop up piece meal, and mysteriously take over provinces in record times (another beef I have with 1.02). The only thing that I can think of that would lead to this result was that, Army wise, we were still tied in strength, though said Army was locked in a war with China (with 379 irregular divs). And, after the peace treaty with Britain, I gained 200 prestige and they lost a likewise amount. But still they refused to surrender without me ceding land.

I am having the same sort of problem. As the US, the Brits declared a colonial war on me. Well, i took all of canada, new zealand most of Australia nad a couple of the african colonies. My score is 30% but i can't get them to sign a peace with me, even if i ask for nothing! Seems a bit unrealistic to me. I have fought them hard for 4 years and would like to get SOMETHING out of the deal (esp considering that i haven't lost a SINGLE battle against them!)

the ratio of power is overwhelming against the reality of the field : if UK refuses any great battle, loses its colonies but keeps twice as many divisions than you in England or India, you can ask anything but the reply will be "nuts".

With USA I was able to deal with them because England declared war with its canadian dominion : i took Ottawa and two canadian provinces, Canada sued for poeace and I got 6 minor canadian provinces, I gave back two to UK to get peace. Later same story with UK+Canada+Australia, I got half of Australia, a big part of Canada and UK has been richer of three provinces.
But when you are plagued with a single war with UK, you can only hope it will stop someday and that no other country will try to declare war to you in the same time.

When I played as Prussia Austria ended up givng me a ton of land after the 66 war. Sadly they left 3 high value provinces pocketed inside my new borders and I was forced to fight a further 3 wars to tidy things up. *sigh*

The key to lasting peace is tidy looking borders! :D
