I already explained blockades to you in another thread, Iwanow. Why must you do this?
Blockades generate income for you based on the total trade value of the province(s) you are blockading. Higher blockade efficiency increases the money you make from these. the money you make (which is displayed every 1st of the month) goes directly into your coffers to be spent. it does not go into your investment income. It is not actually displayed in any of the ledgers or in the tooltip when you hover over your balance.
Blockades do not directly take money from the other country but they have various ill effects for them. Lower tax, -75% trade value, added war exhaustion, possibly a few other things too. Also, since blockade income is based on the trade value of a province, blockading wool/grain provinces won't get you much, but blockades on metals, cloth, wine and all colonial goods will make you great money. Surprise surprise, the carribean and Japan are brilliant places to go on a pirating spree. Gold gives no trade income and so gives no money for blockading.
That said, compared to just conquering the land, piracy is not a very big money earner. It is a good plan for a relatively secluded naval power who doesn't want to expand further and maintain war + war taxes, like an advances Scandinavia, Japan, Great Britain, Iberia etc.
I put a lot of work into learning about blockades for my worldwide blockade game. Don't spread false information about it.
