Sorry if this was already posted somewhere, but I just saw this on Facebook, and.......

That does NOT look like a Warhammer. Unless those are snub-nose PPC's, and they took the SRM's out, and ditched the searchlight.....I'm just saying it doesn't look like a Warhammer. :-(

Someone please reassure me that at LEAST the PPC barrels will be longer. The searchlight and SRM would be nice too. Without those distinct characteristics, it just doesn't look like a Warhammer to me, and that makes me very sad.

They couldn't really make it too similar to the OG Warhammer because of a certain litigious organization.

Yes, but that got dealt with, and I was under the impression they were using the MWO models, which look more like actual Warhammers than that does. The shortened PPC’s just kill the design, IMO.

wrong, the mwo design has the missing elements, and that's where nearly all the mech art assets are coming from. besides that case was settled with prejudice, so "The company that shall not be named" can't do anything anymore

That image of the Warhammer doesn't appear to have the weapon geometry loaded into it. In game, it will probably look closer, like below...

As for the searchlight, that most likely won't be there. Not a big deal IMO though.

Here is it in MWO (in game rendered model) which should be more accurate...

I can't wait to be able to rotate our mechs in the mechbay.

So many interesting screenshots will be created.

It is a pity we couldn't get the Warhammer model now being used for the tabletop minis. Anthony Scroggins' blockier take on the design is far more evocative of the Warhammer's history than the MWO version for mine.

We all know who is to blame for PGI and HBS not being able to use the Unseen models, may they rot in hell for it. But we are getting these iconic mechs and even though they are not what we wanted in the model department, we will have the mechs we have been waiting so long for. The different models are well worth the wait.

When I first saw that I was sad because the PPC barrels were so stubby and no SRM. Then I realized I am dumb and forgot that HBS Battletech changes the mechs appearance based on what weapons are mount where.

In some ways, I do think the Catalyst designs of the Warhammer and Marauder look closer to the original classic designs than PGI's version (now HBS's as well).

Thing is though, these mechs were the first of the classic design unseens being reintroduced into the franchise. Due to the legal climate for these classics at the time, it is understandable in my eyes that PGI had treaded lightly when designing them.

Catalyst's interpretation came out after if I remember, and they took a bolder step with their design.

Still, PGI blazed the trail with classic mechs and the deviations to the design reflect that IMO.

At the end of the day though, looking at the Warhammer or Marauder in this game, they are both instantly recognizable as the classic mechs they are and that is the important part to me.

Really, looking at Catalyst's and PGI's design side by side, they look really close. The size of the 'spotlight' and the shape of the 'shoulder pads' are really the biggest differences.

Other than that, they are close.
Yes. I personally prefer the CGL design's "chunky" arms over the PGI design's "sleek" arms, but that's a personal preference. And on the other hand I much prefer the PGI design's legs over the CGL design's which is missing the classic curve of the lower legs.

I agree. I think it is specifically the 'elbows' on the PGI design that throws things off for me. Then again, normally the arms are in a position that the thin elbow joints aren't as obvious.

I do like PGI's legs much better.

I also like the more recessed head of PGI's design too. It makes it look more aggressive to me.
