Hi, I'm Currently playing as The US in the 1936 scenario. it's December 7th 1941 and Japan has not declared war on me. I never got the oil embargo event either. I'm playing completely historical. My question is do I have to physically declare war on Japan and suffer a dissent hit? or is there an event?

There is an event, but from what I have seen, it does not always fire at the historical date. During one of my games as Australia, I noticed that it fired in mid-1943, so it can fire at any time.

There are several Japanese events that affect the lead up to a war in the pacific, such as declaring war on China, demanding Indochina and what their belligerence level is.

For example one of the triggers for the oil embargo is a Japanese belligerence of 50.

I've never played a game as the US where the Japanese didn't attack eventually - latest was november '42.

You can use Global Manipulation missions to try and raise their belligerence.

I usually join the allies on 1st january '42 (to give me something to do) and put the pacific on 'hold' until the Japanese attack.

You could use the F-12 key and try one of these two codes.

I would suggest loading as Japan and then initiating the event and then accepting it.

event 17 As Japan: Option to attack Pearl Harbor or not
event 18 As Japan: Option to attack Pearl Harbor or not

While your loaded as Japan before saving give them some bonuses to make things interesting.

Lower any dissent they have and beef up their resources using other codes.

Here is a list of codes.

Take some of those codes with a grain of salt iF you're playing Armageddon :

Event 22002 is the pacific war (Japan declares war on US)

Event 17 is the Japanese choice to attack Pearl Harbour or not (fires after Japan & US are at war)

Event 18 is the US reaction to Pearl Harbour, if it occurs.
