Alright, I'm connecting this report with a previous bug report I made for the Reservation. Apparently, I have a recurring crash at April 27th 1939. I can even *hear* the event window pupping up, but I can't see it as the game crashes.

I thought I'd turn this one in more formally and the like, and more precise.

@Serban

Japan would probably be nuked, as the USA has a few military bases on the mainland. It is also a *very* important strategic position. Ghoul Red Army sounds like a fantastic idea. Perhaps it could be a good idea to have one Ghoul/Human nation made up of perhaps the single Vault in China which housed the political elite. Now they Vault has opened, and they're ready to "assimilate" the surrounding provinces.

I got to say that the Viking thing (as a scandinavian myself) sounds very shifty. I'd personally see (if scandinavia even comes to the spotlight) would compromise of independent regions, with Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo and Finland being Merchant States trying to eke out a existence for themselves, or revitalized Police States now intent on bringing the old territories from before the War back under the oppressive boot (and taxation) of the centralized power!

Northern Sweden/Norway with it's forests and mountains could make a good "European Klamath Alliance"-land, if anything.

I like the Papal State idea! It's a reasonable direction.

The Nazi Germany Mark 2? I dunno, man. It'd be a tribute to the turbulent times of the 1930's if whatever big power which is Germany in the mod would suffer revolts and high dissention, and the player could control which power gains power (Police State Nazi, Merchant State Centre Party, Fundamentalist Oligarchy "Ze Neue Religiose Partie") via events.

As far as a Islamic state is concerned, I like the idea of several Fundamentalistic nations with "Raider Land tech focus" fighting for power.

... Hell, looks like my state science studies kicked in on high gear there again. well, the good thing is that nobody got hurt!

Well, I think i ought to modify and develop the ideas i've posted before. To begin with, here goes a timeline for Japan:

When the bombs fell, Japan was hit by several Chinese missiles, in an operation meant to conquer the Japanese islands and eliminate all
US presence there. However, the invasion of Japan never took place, since China was wiped out by american missiles.

Since the main targets of the chinese attacks
were military facilities, the country did not sustain critical damage, leaving most of the Japanese industry working. Once the immediate effect
of the bombs passed, the survivors of the bombed areas requested aid in order to reconstruct their homes. However, the Japanese cabinet denied this aid, just to use that money in order to create a powerful, high-tech army to retaliate against China. Betrayed by their leaders, local governors of the bombed areas crowned themselves Shoguns and started conscripting local villagers, both human and ghoul alike, to fight the establishment.

With an almost religious belief in the Bushido, the local chieftains started
to use trained spies and ninjas to steal the government's technology, willing to even the fight.

In 1933 HR, under the lead of two powerful leaders, this Samurai State unites under a single banner: the Empire of the Blossoming Cherry (name can be modified) and controls the islands of Kyushu and Hokkaido.

@ Serban:

I don't think the world you described is devastated enough... Fallout narrator states clearly:

"In a matter of hours, most of the planet was reduced to cinders..." ;)

besides, it is kind of inappropriate to incorporate in the mod too much outside the cannons (or The Vault - Fallout wiki). There's got to be a line somewhere, else it becomes just a post-apocalyptic mod, not Fallout mod.

Of course, it's just a die-hard Fallout I and II fan's opinion :rofl:

Well, now that it comes out, I do have a bunch of ideas on how to "globalize" the mod... I would mod them myself if I had the time and the knowledge, but since I don't, I'll post them here:

SOUTH AMERICA
First of all, I'd give more territory to the Darien Tribes, maybe make them a serious power in the Colombia-Ecuador area. Also, I read about an all-women tribe in Brazil... "Amazon Empire", perhaps? It could be interesting. Also, I suggest a Pre-War-like nation in the Argentina-Chile area: "Los Nuevos Conquistadores" (The New Conquerors, or whatever). I picture them to be the remnant of the Pre-War states of Argentina, Chile and Uruguay, who fled south when the Bombs fell; and now try to regain territory from the Tribes on the North. Also, a Post-War Incan Empire (Sons of the Sun) set in the Peruvian mountains could fit well...
Just my two cents. Hope you like them.

These could be the big power of South America (that should be weaker than the big power of North America), but what about the minors? I don't like an entire continent where there are big countries only (I mean in the mod: I don't want to destroy Australia!), so we need minors. South America should have at least a "banana republic": something like Tropico. And you can add some event about Banana Joe...I mean how he could be so strong? And of course a Blanka of Street Fighter minor nation could be a good idea.

FAR EAST
Since the canon says little about Japan, I say we could assume that the bombs did not hit the Japanese Islands, leaving them free from the devastation. However, the aftermath caused their economy to crumble and disappear. What I suggest is creating one or two hyper-technologic, yet hyper-traditionalist Samurai Nations, always battling each other. Akira references could fit here, as said.

As for China, I suggest creating a faction consisting on the remains of the Chinese Red Army, who would be trying to rebuild the nation; and a fundamentalist sect of chinese ghouls and mutants located in Southern China (the New Breed), trying to establish a new world order...

For SE Asia, I suggest some kind of Criminal Joint, heavily attached to New Reno, dominating all Indochina based on the production of drugs.

A big no to a Japan untouched by the war. Too numerous. You can make Mongolia untouched, but Japan? If you plan Japan weak the "classic" japanese and their samurai style (they will exist but weaker) and give power to the oppresed people...AINU POWER!
For China the ghoul emperor could be funny plus something like yeti army of Dalai Lama.
For SE I would say...M Bison of Street Fighter.

[
OCEANIA AND INDONESIA
It will sound like a cliché, but yes, I suggest two Mad-Max-like raider clans, one in Australia, one in NZ, constantly fighting in an endless war. For Indonesia, I propose some kind of "Mutant Intelligent Ape Nation".

Raider clan in Australia and New Zealand....but they will only do naval warfare? It doesn't fit too much.
About Indonesia...they should have a pirate nation. I mean they still have pirates (real pirates not the legal pirates of carribean) and in that region operated Sandokan.

EUROPE, NORTH AFRICA AND MIDDLE EAST
Starting with the UK, I suggest an isolationist, elitist and paranoid Britain like the one depicted on "Children of Men", or maybe a fascist British State like in "V for Vendetta".

For the Iberian Peninsula, I suggest this storyline: After the end of the war with the Middle East, the resource pool in Spain and Portugal went dry. This drove the countries into complete anarchy for more than 50 years. In 2127, a group of Basque capitalists sign a contract with the UK, for which they will get the resources required to establish a new Basque State. Also, Catalan industrials ask for the same measures to be applied to their land, yet the UK denies it. Finally, in 2155, the newly-forged Basque State helps Catalonia to establish. This causes the rest of the anarchic Peninsula to join in a Commune set to run over both capitalist states.

I also suggest a Viking nation in Scandinavia, and a "300"-like Spartan Kingdom in Greece.

For Italy, I would include a devious, megalomaniac Papal State, bent on controlling the whole European Mainland.

For Central Europe, I would add the rebirth of a nazi Germany and a Soviet Russia, both struggling to be the dominant Superpower in the old world.

Last but not least, I would also add an all-islamic State, willing to conquer the weak European continent, with the perpetual menace of the last remaining nuclear warheads of Pakistan and Iran.

Just my two cents. Hope you like them.

Good idea but if you start adding too much territory in Europe and Asia, then America will lose importance.

A canceled Fallout game called "Fallout Extreme" the end of the game would have had the player visiting parts of the Soviet Union, Mongolia, and the final battle taking place in the Forbidden City in China.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_Extreme
So North America is not alone.

A conflict between a unified China and North America would make a nice end game conflict. Finally settle the score. :p

EUROPE, NORTH AFRICA AND MIDDLE EAST

For Central Europe, I would add the rebirth of a nazi Germany and a Soviet Russia, both struggling to be the dominant Superpower in the old world.

Soviet Russia could be likely (regarding the stalin nostalgia these days)
but i dont think there will be ever any kind of return of nazi germany .

I would rather propose something like:

"When the possibility of a nuclear war came closer the political,economic and scientific elite of Germany began the building of a hideout fortress deep in the mountains of the harz, hoping to survive the apocalypse. Unfortunately (Or Fortunately :rofl:) when the day came the fortress was reduced to ashes due to construction failures. With the loss of nearly all of their leaders, the remaining germans turned their hopes on the young Friedrich, Prince of Prussia, who mysteriously survived. As many germans thought that capitalism and the greed for resources had lead to their current situation they appointed Friedrich ,who himself saw the only way of survival in socialist politics. Soon Germany evolved into a unique state the first communist monarchy of the world (weird but fallout style:rofl:) Relations with Soviet Russia remained cold though, as each side saw the other as traitor to the revolution. Till today Friedrich, who keeps himself alive through a mix of genetics and robotics, is working on his dream of spreading revolution first through europe ,then to the rest of the world.

Edit: Maybe Europe could be made as a separate scenario

@KimKhan
- Don't worry about a few little crashes. They're good fer ya, let's ya know yer running in Windows. LOL
- We had some ideas about Cuba. Yeah, they're gonna be pirates. Ghoul pirates? Now there's an idea... :cool:

@JRHINDO
- Wonderful! Another zombie mod-fan. :D
- Glad you fixed your installation.
- East BoS... West BoS... pfft! What's the difference? :eek:
- I haven't played the FO3 expansions. I am already using some of their art though.
- An amazonian tribe sounds cool. I plan to add Diana and Twin Mothers tribe soon anyway.
- I seriously doubt the mod will ever get expanded past what I've already posted are our plans.
- A slav assistant? I have one: Vlad.
"Vladimir! VLADIMIR!!"
"Yes Master?"
"The lightning has started. Start the machine, we must bring this mod to life!"
"Yes, Master!"
"LIVE, DAMN YOU! LIVE!!!"

@Jacobite
- Not anymore.

@Neoman
- Good map and thank you for making and posting it. But I am finding it hard to take the mod further with my busy life. I am committed to some more versions this year then that will be it.

@Vlad
- I am e-mailing you tonight, Vlad. I've been meaning to do it for many weeks.

@KimKhan
- Yeah I want the navy to be useful. You're only going to get Pacific and Carribean though. I'll make some juicy islands to make it worthwhile.

@Serban
- Those are great ideas, mate. You have a creative mind. All are very worthy. See what I wrote earlier.

"Who among you will step forward to take over this mod? Who? Is there no one? Not one among you has the courage?"
Angel_avatar.jpg

@KimKhan
- Damn crashes. To be honest, I give up. I correct mistakes in files as I work on them and hopefully that process will clean the mod.

@etkar
- Please do. I would love to read it.
- Robot Nation will definitely get some attention in one of the coming releases.

@Serban
- Great ideas. Will you step forward and be the one to pull the sword from the stone?

@Ivan88
- But that can be interpreted in many ways. It doesn't mean there's literally nothing left outside North America.

@vota dc
- I'm using Mad Max graphics and themed heavily for the Huns already.

@Nekronian
- Welcome!

@Stahwolf
- Aaah, he remembers SS Zombie shocktroops riding into battle on captured alien UFO saucers. Brings a tear to my eye... :D:p:cool:

@Supeerme
- Aha! Someone steps forward to pull the sword from the stone and take over this mod from me! Yes?
:rofl:

Well, honestly said, Sword, I'd love to. However, I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA about modding. Besides, I am running quite short of time. However, if any of you guys could point me out some of the basics, I could try to mess around and try some ideas out.

What I was thinking was:
·Separate scenarios for separate continents (Far East & Oceania, Europe, N. merica & S. America)
·Same tech-tree & tech pics as in FODD 1.0 (could be updated later on)
·Using Sprites from FODD 1.0
·Using already existant AIs
·Very little event chains, just a deathmatch setting to begin with...

What I'd need would be:

·Basic guides on scenario modding, event making, applying AIs
·Some reliable Province ID map.
·Help with pics & flags & shields & so on.
·List of available tags...

That's all for now, i believe...

OH OH SIR? Can I have the guides as well please? I might be able to do it a lot faster if I learn with your guides and make my own version of 1936 (A bit like this but in ww2 setting. You start with your own capital and you must expand before you get taken over by your neighbours.) working then I might start on this.

We'll see... we'll see.

@Serban
I'll post something soon about guiding you. If you are short of time, forget the idea. Don't waste another thought on it. Modding takes quite a few hours, even if you're more efficient and disciplined than I am.

Well, if you're willing to deal with us inexperienced modders I also might be interested in helping you out with events?
That's about the only thing in HoI that I know the mechanics of. I'm kind of busy until late June though.
