I don't want to bother you, but is there any planed date when new version will be released? If it's not it's not a problem, most important is good mod, no matter how many time it takes to make. I realy apreciate your hard work.

Cheers!

Well, my part of job, which needs to be done for release 0.4 is likely to take all summer. But it's possible, that Sword will release an intermediate version 0.35 - stable and funny but without some of our most ambitious projects - which will wait till 0.4. We're currently preparing to make 0.4 a final public release of mod and only polish it with patches afterward, and we're going to release it before release of HoI3.

Hi

Fallout 3 has references to Fallout 2... Harold (awesome part of the game), President Richardson and Navarro base are mentioned in a computer and many things that I cannot remember because I haven't slept for a while

Well, it's not our ideological intention - not to include F3 stuff into the mod. It just requires too much work, and we're low on hands (anyone wants to join the team? has a skill with ministers, leaders an unitnames? hey!), so we'd better spend time and energy on some other features, which, in our opinion, may provide better gameplay results, than just adding one more BoS and Republic of Dave, etc.

By the way, I'm currently working on new tech pics. You can have a sneak peak on our forum

Lol,it seems that Hoi 3 has taken some suggestion from this mod since there are faction inside the countries:the new party system (well there are not true party-for example in New Reno there are families, but the concept is the same).

I seen pioneer alliance in a screen of this topic.I have the 0.3....there is a way to obtain this faction or it will be included in 0.35?

Yes, Louisiana is very tribal. In this mod, these tribals are heavily influenced by a mish-mash of pre-War American Indian traditions. In Release 0.4 they have been renamed to Manitou Tribes.

Arroyo has a strong tribal element. However, as a player you can choose to favour the townships and ex-Vault traditions more, or even a balance of both.

Arroyo has been renamed as New Arroyo in the next Release but I want to change that back to Arroyo. Becoming New Arroyo should really happen on the Chosen One's return or even as an end game victory condition.

@von Sachsen
Aha! You get it now. We called this character Col Franklin Kurtz and he is a ghoul who has survived from since before the War. I hope to add some content to the nation of Kurtz's Camp for Release 0.4. We came up with some good ideas on our forum.;)

News Update
Work on this mod is progressing. My own life is more busy with real life work and other things, but I'm finding some time every weekend at least to continue. We also have a small team of enthusiasts who are making some contributions.

The biggest project going on right is the revamp of all the techs in this mod. Senior Paladin Pavlov is progressing at finding high quality pictures in as consistent a visual style as possible for all techs. And each tech picture will have a text quote written on it which is appropriate to that tech. These are from historical figures, from popular culture, from the Fallout games, or tie in with the storyline in the mod itself. Many of these are really quite funny and perfectly capture the quirky sense of humour present in the original Fallout games.

I'm so proud of the end of result where a number of people contributed. The quotes are great. The new pictures are great. Great job that will make an already great mod even better!

Did you know there are actually 409 brand, spanking new techs present in this mod? An entirely new tech tree in every area, made to suit a post apocalyptic science fiction setting. The tech revision project is 56.2% complete at this stage. Vlad is powering along and doing a number of techs every day.

You can preview the work on this forum: http://terranova.dk/viewforum.php?f=56. I find the latest preview on new pictures for the Robotics tech tree just stunning.

So where else have we come to? Many months ago, I put up a post outlining some goals for the next release of this mod. We have since deviated a fair bit from those, but most are still valid aims.

Here is a list of those:
- open the Pacific more,
- more development on the nation of Former USA, that vestige of the pre-War US state in the northeast corner,
- some start on the strategic goal of the Former USA, the Enclave and New Arroyo all trying to reclaim the the whole north american continent as an end game dynamic leading to a final war between three major alliances,
- some start on a major story line and strategic dynamic for the mod of the Chosen One returning from where he mysteriously disappeared to,
- finish unit names for all nations,
- complete the major event chain to depict the great annual caravan trail in the western part of the map, which passes through many nations,
- better geopolitics to make it harder to swallow up small nations, especially in the west,
- more content for nations,
- more events,
- more techs,
- new units and brigades,
- and more!

You can review the goals list here: http://terranova.dk/viewtopic.php?t=3698

Progress has been very slow over many months now. But we crawl ahead. A new version will come out in the coming months.

Vlad has been working in a disciplined way with his tech pictures and this is inspiring for me personally. However, he's also spurred me to do some tech revisions I've been wanting to do for some time. So that's taking me time; but the mod's tech tree will be even better than before: more interesting, a slightly better play balance, and you'll see new unit and brigade types.:)

As mentioned many times, don't let the fact that this mod has a current release level of 0.3 fool you into thinking it's not polished and playable. Apart from one known crash which is easily avoided and has an event to remind the player to do so, the mod plays in a stable way. The mod is very play balanced and is a complete replacement of the base HOI game.

A number of items on the list of goals are complete or nearly so. Some remain to be started on. This weekend I plan to forge ahead with tech work in support of Vlad with his picture work. I will be creating new unit and brigade types as part of that.

***Special Note on HOI3***
Some people have asked about porting this mod to the new HOI Paradox will be releasing. There is simply just no capacity to do that. The mod team is small, and I don't have it in me to do it. It would be a massive job to cut all the mod content over to the new engine. I believe that the graphics are harder to mod and likely beyond my primitive skills in that area.

As this mod is such a unique experience with a completely customised setting and content, I'm hoping people will continue to play it under HOI2 even though HOI3 is out. The strategic gameplay for the mod will hopefully become as deep and as challenging as the base game with it's depiction of WW2. As well as the goals listed above and this wonderful revamp of the massive tech tree, I always work on improving the dynamics as a wargame. The aim is to make it strategically challenging. I've put a lot of work into balancing unit and brigade stats against their build and maintenance costs, for example.

Anyway, have fun, fellow gamers!

Cheers,
Sword

The lights fade... cue music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjFLw17KDCk&NR=1

Aah yes, the New Church of Texas. The people of the New Church emerged from the Austin Vault, they did... yes, it was several generations ago. After so long living underground in a Vault, generation after generation surviving in the sunless rooms and corridors since the Bomb was dropped and civilization ended, their religion changed from what it was once was into something new.
emerging_from_the_vault.bmp.jpg

So they emerged into the still radioactive Wastelands around the former state of Texas with this firebrand bastardisation of Christianity. With their remnant technology and a working GECK (Garden of Eden Creation Kit), they formed the nation called God's Republic of Texas and grew strong. Ever have their preachers spread the word of their religion with a holy book in hand and a shotgun cradled under under the arm, bringing many settlements and townships into the fold.
texan_preacher.bmp.jpg

The New Church brings unity but it is harsh and it preaches that mutants, ghouls and other radiation changed life is an aberration that must be cleansed from the earth. But it teaches hard work and discipline and the people of Texas have prospered and tamed the savage Wastelands around Austin.
humble_prayer.bmp.jpg

Twenty years ago, someone special emerged in God's Republic of Texas. She was a visionary, a healer, a miracle worker. People began to call her a Living Saint and the New Church took notice. Miracles and divine intervention are a part of their teaching. Here was someone who claimed that divine mantle; and the people believed in her.
new_church_reformation.bmp.jpg

The Elder Fathers called the New Church Assembly and brought Helena before them in chains for the Trial of Witchcraft. Their hearts were filled with doubts. After the sacramental wine was passed around, they called Helena to judgement as a witch. But their eyes dimmed and the world grew blurry and it was as though a nimbus of light was around Helena. Then she began to speak a powerful sermon on the holy scriptures and doubts were dispelled. Helena was declared a Living Saint.
saint_helena.bmp.jpg

Since then, she has founded her own Convent. Her fortified Abbey lies in the remote regions of Texas, guarded by the fanatical Holy Orders. These are open only to female recruits. Women are often repressed in the Wastelands, especially in the traditionalist society of Texas under the New Church where women have little hope of personal growth or advancement. So every year, many flock to the Abbey on pilgrimmage and a portion stay to serve the Saint.
ill_div_TEX_7_0_test.bmp.jpg

The New Church has prospered with the Saint's help. Recruitment is better than it has ever been. The New Church has reached unrivalled peak of popularity with the people and God's Republic of Texas expands every year, pushing back the howling Wastelands. It is uncanny how Saint Helena knows so much. She is clearly the vessel for the Lord's work to be done.
saint_helena_speaks.bmp.jpg

But things have changed. The New Church has changed. And doubt fills the heart of many preachers and local Fathers.
corrupt_preacher.bmp.jpg

Under the ever persuasive counsel of Saint Helena, new sacraments have been taught. These ones involve the use of the sacred powder, through which one attains heightened spiritual awareness. Yes, truly one dances with the angels themselves in holy rapture during the sacraments. This is how our Living Saint must live every day. How glorious to be so close to the Lord! Why, some priests hold mass five times a day now!
cathedral.bmp.jpg

All is well in God's own Republic. Yet there are mutters. Mutters that perhaps the Church has lost it's way. It has grown fat and rich. Is it still pure and true?
church_statue.bmp.jpg

And now there is new talk amongst the people. It is spreading like wildfire, this buzz, these swirling rumours. It is everywhere, in markets, in streets, in houses and in the many churches. They say that the Lord has delivered us a new visionary. There is a new Prophet who has been touched with Divine Power! And she is walking amongst the people preaching the Holy Word. People call her the Messenger.
the_messenger.bmp.jpg

Her sermons are electric and the people are on fire with a new hope. What is this the Messenger speaks of? Humility? Purity of life? Renunciation of worldly wealth? Everyone wants to see her and hear her.
the_peoples_relief.bmp.jpg

But she is like a wisp of fog in the morning light, gone before the day begins. The Elder Fathers have tasked the Lone Star Guardians to track her down. The leader of the Guardians, High Marshal Hodges, is a canny hunter. Hardened by years enforcing the laws of God's Republic in the dusty tumbleweed towns of Texas, he has risen to now lead the Lone Star Guardians. He knows his craft. They will find this so called Messenger. And they will bring her before the Elder Fathers and the New Church Assembly for trial and judgement, as was done with Saint Helena before her.
Texas_High_Marshal_Hodges.bmp.jpg

So God's Republic has come into a time of inner turmoil and in this, there is a great hidden danger. For the people believe. And when a people truly believe, to change that which is the fabric of their belief is to dance on the edge of a volcano. Even a Living Saint must take pause and seek counsel in deep prayer, gathering her cronies and advisors to her, lest the adoration of the teeming masses turn against her.
texan_masses.bmp.jpg

Who can say where this will lead? If the Lone Star Guardians cannot find the Messenger and she continues to preach her idealism to the people, the more foolish amongst them may come to doubt the wisdom of their Church. And the great fortified doors of the Abbey would have to close and all the fighting sisters of the Holy Orders recalled to man the gun turrets. Perhaps this Messenger is not Divinely touched, but a heretic witch who preaches lies and must be burned. Yes, that is perhaps how Saint Helena will speak to the New Church Assembly. The Elder Fathers will support her. They can no longer afford not to. They will declare the Messenger a witch that must be burned.
burn_the_witch.bmp.jpg

Then it would be civil war, would it not? And woe to the people then... woe, woe, woe! The suffering... the violence... the bloodshed... Some things never change. War never changes. The Angels will weep tears of blood for Texas in such dark days.
empty_peace.bmp.jpg

But perhaps from civil war, there could be rebirth. No more with the special powder bought in New Reno. No more with the endless donations to the local Church used only to buy comforts for the priest. No more with the Penance Tithe sent to the Abbey. Then this would be Texas Reformed, my brother, and it would be a new dawn for this great land!
the_bells_toll.bmp.jpg

You see, the Messenger needs no sacramental wine, no special ceremonies, no vast network of informants to know the secrets of people's hearts. She bears the Stigmata truly. The people have seen the wounds appear on her hands and the tears of blood weep from her eyes. Her eyes shine with the devout faith coming from her heart. She is but a simple peasant girl touched by the divine.
tears_of_blood.bmp.jpg

You see, brother, she can hear the inner thoughts of those around her clearly in her mind. She has heard these voices since she came into womanhood. Her telepathy is the gift of the Lord to her, and it is much stronger than the feeble talent of Saint Helena. May the Lord give her the strength to lead the people back to the true path of their New Church to become Texas Reformed.
pure_and_holy.bmp.jpg

And may the Lord hold back the enemies of Texas while this drama plays out: the Godless Tribals of the Manitou Tribes to the east, the Cursed Ghouls of Kansas Free State to the north, the brutal Mexican Raiders to the west and the amoral, hedonist Harlequins of New Orleans to the south.

Naah, just a simple answer to his question on what Texas Reformed is. ;):D

I thought I'd showcase the work done on this particular nation. The aim is to have this kind of story and strategic development implemented for all 30 or so nations in this mod.

Cheers,
Sword

Sword, thanks for such great answer! Well done!
I can't wait for your new mod. Current mod is great but I can't imagine how great will be new version with such rich storyline.
