War Support: Offensive War Penalty in a Defensive War.

Hello all,

Just a quick question.

I'm playing as Nat. China and Japan has recently declared war on me and the fighting has begun. I start to look at some of the stats and notice my War support is 76%. When mousing over I see that I have a -20% Offensive War but also a +30% Defensive War.

The defensive war with Japan is the only war I am currently in and the only war going on in the world at this time. So just curious if this might be a bug or WAD? I did go for the NF "Subdue the Warlords" and "Anti-Communism" and did fight an offensive war against two that did not want to bow to me and defeated Communist China. The two wars against the warlords that did not bow to me ended long ago and the defeat of Communist China was finished about 3 weeks before the Marco Polo NF for Japan finished.

Well that's it. Don't know what has happened but if anyone knows I would be thankful for any answer.

There seems to be a bug with it. I've seen it as a few countries. For example: Playing US, joining the allies and answering Britain's call against Germany is considered an offensive war and a defensive war.

I also noticed this. I suspect I may have joined wars that were a combination of offensive and defensive - e.g. Defensive war from Germany attacking Poland but offensive from... UK attacking Iceland maybe?? Not sure exactly.

I assume it because when you answer the call to arms, it flags you as declaring war. SO in this case, when Britain calls USA to war against Germany, the USA declares war against Germany and the game reads this as an offensive war. It really should just be based on who was the attacker in the initial conflict.

Either that or because I joined a war in progress by joining allies, not being attacked by Japan?

I have noticed this as well on AI US when it joins the war. It has both the offensive war and defensive war modifiers.
