From now on there will be an ontime bonus of 250D to everyone who is in the game at 19:00, and an additional 125D to everyone who is there at 18:55. If nobody writes AARs, I might start increasing the reward until people do. :)

according to what i heard it mio was annoyed with ego for him using pirates in a game when it wasnt a rule to not use them.

Therefor i belive mio is the one who should compromise

Whether or not I was annoyed at Ego because of that has little do to with my decision. If I would stop playing with everyone who annoyed me occasionally I would have stopped playing MP long ago.
As it is now I have a very short list of players I avoid.

Apart from the massive pirate spam i used in the only game we played (almost 4 years ago by the way) i dont see what could be possibly used as a reason to avoid playing with me. I didnt leave the game and i dont recall insulting you or treating you in any way unfair (apart from abusing the game engine - like with the pirate spam - that is).

I also did dishonour most of our deals, that is true, and i even managed to make others dishonour theirs, as well - like Rokka (whom you had offered all of italy if they joined you against me), but that is part of the game. You were terribly huge, and in the 1453 scenario made by drake that we played, the OE had terrible advantages and a huge manpower pool. I was a noob back in these days, but i remember that despite having a far smaller naval supply limit then yours all our wars ended in a white peace.

If you didnt get annoyed at my way of conducting diplomacy, or at my massive pirate spam (and perhaps even my massive mercenary spam, which caused the death of Murat in Iberia), i cannot find a plausible reason for your behaviour towards me. But as CG points out, perhaps you can enligthen us.

P.S: I know you got terribly pissed at that time due to the pirate spam/mercenary spam which caused the death of some of your leaders shortly after their landfall, but keep in mind it was nothing against the rules (i believe we made a rule to prevent pirate spam later on, but when i used it, it wasnt forbidden).

I won't talk about everything that made me avoid you, as I think we should avoid talking about you too much in this thread.

I don't remember your diplomacy being that annoying. I don't think you did anything Rokka wouldn't have done and Rokka was one of the players I've enjoyed playing with the most.

Another minor comment; you can brag about me not beating you, but of course you forgot to mention you were saved from getting your ass kicked by Rokka's strong Austria.

What I remember from our game wasn't even the pirate-spam. I remember you using an attack on an AI ally to force me to break a truce. Because the perm (I was still subbing then) had beaten you with an army which was shown to you as having 0 soldiers. Of course that was his fault and not caused by your connection...
I remember you complaining about the compensation France would get after begin AI-ed two sessions. And asking for larger compensation for yourself after being AI-ed for one...

And well, after our one game, you've managed to annoy quite a few players enough to avoid you as well. And I think you've quitted more games than you finished. So the feeling I made a good decision back then was confirmed more than once.

I remember you complaining about the compensation France would get after begin AI-ed two sessions. And asking for larger compensation for yourself after being AI-ed for one...

I told everyone i couldnt play for a session, and i asked to be ghosted. The french player never bothered warning anyone or asking to be ghosted. In turn i was AIed, when i had my great explorers around, and some cash reserves for early colonization, which the AI wasted on forts. I also had my galley fleet wasted in the middle of the ocean (alongside funny things all AIs love to do). I guess everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but i also remember the gamemaster edited what i requested, and that some people like Bodvar agreed with my requests.

Of course that was his fault and not caused by your connection...

Well, despite using hamachi, and having the countless problems we had (still remember bodvar crashing about 20 times in a row and playing 4 years in a single session?), i never had any similar problem with anyone else (even in other games, might i add). And IIRC, RappaR could not hear anyone except the host. Or at the very least, he couldnt hear me. And i could speak with anyone else without problems, and never had any problems with anyone either, regarding 0 men armies. Therefore, if I never had any problems like that, and never had any similar problems in the game with anyone else - the problem certainly wasnt mine.

I remember you using an attack on an AI ally to force me to break a truce.

Heh, now that you speak of it, i do remember it as well. But if it wasnt against the rules, then i do not see what the problem is. I also cannot understand how someone could be angry over 4 years about such a trivial thing.

Another minor comment; you can brag about me not beating you, but of course you forgot to mention you were saved from getting your ass kicked by Rokka's strong Austria.

I am not bragging that you couldnt beat me, i just said you didnt do it despite your advantages. Yes, Austria declared war on the OE twice when i was getting attacked, but Rokka's tactic of a "static defense" (and by static defense i mean stretching his forces thin all over his borders with you), never paid any dividends. And i wouldnt dare call his Austria strong. A strong Austria is the Austria, Tonio for example built in Gotterdamerung (just the other day i spoke with King John about it), or Tonio's Austria in Universalis I, which you might very well remember, afterall he did reach Instanbul early on (and you were the OE). Both Rokka and myself were relatively newbies to the game, but i always found myself with my hands tied with an OE that beated me in every field. I might not have been the best player obviously, but the game settup didnt help - everyone knows the OE is capable of reaching huge manpower, and in that drake's version of 1453 a bigger naval supply limit isnt hard either with all these ports africa provide.

If you promise to not quit the game and not start long arguments, I am willing to give it a shot

I cannot promise this to you, or to anyone else. The reason is simple. When i join the game, i join it to play it till the end. However, there are things that i do not like seeing, and without a proper game master to see justice done, i prefer to resign (I really DO miss Daniel these days).

Just in my last game, i built the biggest empire in the game by far (and started as the smallest nation by the way), i beated everyone in every terms, i wasted countless hours planning what to do, and i gave my very best and dedicated myself at full to the game. After one gang by Austria-Russia-Italy and even Spain, not only did i fend it off, but ended up winning after a rather frustrating war (even with a CRT behind). The next session after that gang, i have a CTD at start, and despite asking for a rehost, i am forced to stay ghosted for the entire session. The session afterwards, I arrive 30 minutes after the game starts. I ask for a rehost. I wait the entire session in the lobby for one. Not only they didnt rehost, but used the session to trounce my ally, France, which i had always helped and everyone knew i intended to as i had stated in ICQ and in-game before. Russia had also been blocked from Siberia for a long time, but during one of these sessions i was ghosted, one minor that bordered Russia declared indepedence from me, and Russia sacked its capital - getting my maps in turn, and then spammed colonists all over the lakes in Siberia. No edits were to take place, by the way.

Most importantly, I never received a single apology from the game masters for making me waste 2 days of my life sitting on the chair in front of the computer doing nothing except waiting for a rehost. I got seriously annoyed. Even more after i received their answer - "Its your own fault not ours".

So i decided to leave the game. I felt no responsibilities to anyone after what they had done to me.

I do not know how you would behave, but i do not like dedicating countless hours to the game, and countless more to my usual game planning before the session actually start, to see everything i built disapearing out of thin air, because it is the will of the game masters (or rather, their incompetence). I had dealt a serious blow to Russia at the start - only to see Siberia colonized in a very dirty way when i loaded up the save. My most important ally (only had 2 allies in that game anyway), France, had been totaly beaten when i was ghosted against my will - and when i had played in the past, we always won versus the gangers.

All of these things, as well as the countless minors that declared independence from me, could have been avoided had they rehosted for me. I didnt mind if they played one, or 2 extra years (perhaps even more) as its usual after you hear the plea for a rehost in ICQ, but they did not even bother with it. All of that just to say that 90% of the games i left, were all because of things like that. The other 10% of the games i left, i do admit that i was partially guilty for my departure and the situation i had put myself into, but these were in times past while i was still very inexperient.

I can only promise that i will follow the rules, and that i will play as long as the gamemaster deals properly with all problems that might appear during the game. If that is not enough, then i wish you a good game.

As for the arguing part - i was always a strong advocate that human beings could understand each other by discussing things in civilized manners. I can cut the long part if you want, but you, as well as other players in this game, know that in-game problems usually happens, and that they have to be dealt with in the forums, usually by arguing. You see that for example, in TFG3, which is still being played, and where people argued either or not Venice should keep Delhi.

In short - this is my last post on the matter - if you are still unable to play with me, based on an opinion 4 years old and in the opinion of "people you had fun with in the past", I wont bother you or anyone else about the issue any longer, nor shall i post in this thread in the future, but i do hope no one else ever ask me to sub them in this game.

P.S: Do not think i am "bragging" when i say things like "I built the biggest empire" or, "I beated everyone in every terms". I am just stating facts, facts which the stats themselves pointed out. There is a diference between stating the truth, and facts backed up by proofs, to outright bragging. At least in my dictionary.

Usually it's a problem of both the players. KJ and I had the same problem in the second session of this game. We both saw 0-soldiers-armies.

Even a mediocre Austria can distract an enemy enough to give Austrian allies time to recover...especially if Austria helps in Italy...

And getting to Istanbul early is good, but not nearly Tonio's best performance ever. OE starts of a bit small in 1419...and Tonio did have an uberleader when he attacked me.

P.S: Do not think i am "bragging" when i say things like "I built the biggest empire" or, "I beated everyone in every terms". I am just stating facts, facts which the stats themselves pointed out. Bragging doesn't necessarily mean you say things that aren't true. From an online dictionary: 'synonyms boast, brag, vaunt, crow mean to express pride in oneself or one's accomplishments.'

Well, if all the information you get in those four years confirms your choice, it would be stupid to reverse your decision.

We cancelled the session. Both John's didn't show, and with PJL/Ampo gone that left us missing four players. I'll still be giving out ontime bonuses though. England, Spain and Sweden all arrived in time for the double ontime bonus of 375D, while Portugal qualifies for the regular ontime bonus of 250D.
