In the mid to late game, cavalry supremacy is very important. In the shock portion of combat, the side with cavalry supremacy gets a nice bonus. These are not just horses, naturally, but armed cavalry.
The Indian armies will field a lot of cavalry, as will some of the Khanates. Your best bet is to avoid their armies altogether if possible. You own the coast, so have a major army on either side of India, wait to see which way Mysore sends their force and follow into the gap with the unopposed army. Fight two or three front wars whenever possible.
Never wage war if the 3 Indian states are in the same alliance. This will lead to a long and costly war. Isolate them one at a time (suck up to the Moguls, invite them into your alliance and let Mysore stand on its own) and pick them off.
