Since Glitterhoof has paved the way for animal characters in the game, I suggest that hunting dog and war horse get turned into actual characters as well. This could be the basis of a new Crusader Kings 2: Pets DLC.
For the record, I am serious (although a Pets DLC is unlikely, as Paradox doesn’t do small content DLC any more). I know this sounds silly, but we already have:
- Hunting dogs,
- War horses,
- Pet albino bears,
- Glitterhoof.
Adding pets would not even require much – some art, events and targeted decisions. It would help make our characters feel more human. They could add a handful of new pets: tiger, cat, lion, snake, hawk, sheep, gerbil. An d it could allow for some nice little stories:
- Your child asks you to let him/her ride your warhorse,
- You take your bear/lion/tiger with you to battle,
- Your wife complains that you spend more time with your dog than her,
- You take your dog, hawk, sheep on a hunt,
- Your hawk kills another character’s gerbil or vice-versa, starting a fierce rivalry.
