I am playing as Portugal, and my New Portugal colony in NA declared on England's Newfoundland colony. Somehow I was not alerted that I was called into the war? Or maybe I'm just blind.

Anyway, I became the war leader but Newfoundland was displayed as the war leader of the other side despite Great Britain being in the war.

The war UI shows a warscore of +53% so I want to peace out Newfoundland and give some of the provinces to my colony. When I click "send demand," nothing happens. I don't get a "Peace offer declined" message.

Ultimately I realized that I had to negotiate with GB instead of their colony, despite Newfoundland being displayed as war leader. On sending them my demand, I was immediately able to end the war.

Is this a known bug? WAD? It seems like a defect that Newfoundland was displayed as war leader but I could not negotiate with them.

I think this is WAD and thus a design flaw and not a bug. Bascially if you are a vassal, or any other kind of subject there is no notification - you just suddenly are at war. For me this often means loading an earlier save (maybe my ships were in a bad spot and I lose my entire navy on day 1 of war). For people playing IM this could mean a lost game.

I had this happen before where my new colony was war dec'd by another colony and I couldn't do anything about it. I wasn't part of the war despite being it's overlord. Very fustrating since I could have slapped that colony and it's mother twice over. Needless to say my poor colony was trashed.

It's a bug and it's getting fixed

Fixes that are going to become 1.5.1.

- Will no longer be able to attempt to sell provinces when the sale is not valid (due to coring range or other reasons).
- Reduced number of Great Power allies penalty from -100 to -50
- Added defines for Number of Great Power allies allowed before a penalty is applied to alliance chance
- Added defines for Penalty on alliance chance for having more GP allies than allowed
- AI: Will no longer break alliances due to gaining too many Great Power allies
- There is no longer any extra +manpower in the build interface where it shouldn't be.
- No longer 601 days to colonize inland adjacent to puppets.
- Fixed tooltip for being unable to sell provinces due to being outside buyer's coring range.

Sairoh, that bug seems to be different though? I was called to war (and England wrecked my trade fleet!) but there was no notification.

The business with the peace negotiation would seem to be a yet another issue.

Check to make sure that isn't just your notification settings. I mean, it probably isn't, but it helps to be thorough right?

It's a display bug. The war leader is supposed to be the overlord, and thus war score is supposed to go off of that. However, during colonial wars, the shield and percentage in the bottom right show the war score for the target colonial nation instead, and negotiating with said nation separately is obviously impossible.

Therefore, it is a bug. The interface at the bottom implies the colony is the war leader and shows a different war score than is actually accurate once the overlords join.

I don't know if it's been reported or not.

I want to finish my Creek one, but I had a problem. I had a good part with a lot happening (failed westernization attempt) get ruined by the recording not working properly on my new computer, despite the test working fine. This has an obvious problem while using ironman, to the point where I probably won't do future recordings in ironman mode just due to the risk of power outage or recording crash and being unable to go back.

I haven't figured out how to *consistently* get it to not do that (suspect driver issue), which is why I stopped for a while. Certainly, though, beating Great Britain with a non-reformed Creek was fun. Of course, the exploit I used to get Creek so huge so early is gone too ^_^.

Sorry I totally misunderstood the original poster. Yes, you should do a bug report this this then. Now it's a good time to do it since they're working on the next patch.

I have no accompanying save or screenshot. I will eventually get around to playing a colonial again, and I'll do it then.

My game is non-IM, so I might be able to replicate the shield/warleader defect by redeclaring on Newfoundland. I'll try tonight.

When I had it happen, it was because my colonial declared on theirs and was winning, so the overlord joined on their side which auto-pulled me in.

Had an oddity today as well though didn't test it due to it being an Ironman-game :) I as Castile thought about declaring war on catholic Zapotec (they'd spawned from nationalist rebels out of my New Spain). Apparently my colonial puppet had made them a protectorate though... as such the (should've screenshot-ed this :p) pop-up read sort of like 'If I declare war on them... New Spain is their Protector but Castile is the overlord of New Spain as such Castile will back up New Spain... I was like... WAIT WHAT??? For a minute their I thought I could legitimately declare war on myself LOL;

I actually wondered about this. How does this work? Do I go to war with my own colony? Do they but out? or do they join me against their protectorate? I always play Ironman so never wanted to risk it.

I loaded my previous save and DoW Newfoundland. GB was shown on the shield and as warleader.

Reloaded the previous save, and New Portugal declared on Newfoundland as before but the overlords weren't called in. My colony took GB's up to about 90% warscore and annexed half their provinces.

So I think it is safe to assume the warleader bug only happens when one CN declares on another CN.

I just had this happen to me though sightly different. A CN called me into their war because I'm the defender of the faith for Protestant aganist another CN who's cause was a reglious war. Eventually their overlord joined in and the other CNs overlord joined in eventually causing a world war where no one could peace out because of the bug. Despite a100% war score, I accepted a white peace offer (I was bugged out as both the war leader but it only affected me) because a unresolvable 15 year war was too much for me. England and Spain are still in war because the AI can't peace out. It's putting the crusades to shame to say the least.... Lol

PS. This was typed on my iPhone. Sorry for any typos

Curiously, in the same game my CN declared on France's CN and the overlords were called in. The message I got was "We are in control" to say we are the warleader. France was displayed as the opposing warleader, so apparently everything worked fine there.

No idea why there would be a difference.
