I thought the Officer Purges weren't included in the game...
The Great Officer’s purges are the coolest event for USSR in 1937. There were four officer’s purges in 1937 in my last game for Soviet Union. Each such event gives you two opportunities- “punish the traitors” (-10% national dissent, forever lose services of few generals) or “no need for brutality” (+10% national dissent).
So, knowing that soon will be a purge (they always happen in 1937) I’ve prepared for war. In early 1937 Soviet forces crushed Turkish army and annexed Turkey. Some people in SU considered this move of Stalin as pure aggression (+10% of national dissent because of declaration of war), however Stalin claimed that few officers are responsible for warmongering and two weeks after the declaration of war those traitors were punished (The great purge event- punish the traitors -10% national dissent). Everybody was happy again in USSR and after the Turkey Stalin’s forces went like steamroller through Persia, annexed it and then again punished the traitors. After this Stalin declared war on Sweden and Norway, as always blamed two groups of warmongering officers and punished them. Sweden launched a desperate assault of heavily fortified Leningrad and lost half of its army during this silly attack. As long as Soviets discovered transport ships, Stalin launched an invasion of Scandinavia and annexed Sweden and Norway. At the end of 1937 such countries as Turkey, Persia, Norway and Sweden didn’t existed on world map anymore, instead of this Soviet Union had four more Soviet Socialistic Republics- and the most important thing- Soviet people were absolutely happy and there were no national dissent at all, because everyone knew that traitors are responsible for start of each one of those four wars.
