i was playing as china, i deliberately decided to play and not become civilised until the event... but thats besides the point :)

russia, as per usual, declared colonial war on me. i had all my troops stationed on the border with them and was planning on holding out until the crimean war so they would get some war exhaustion and i could demand land (to avoid aigun). my plan was proceeding as planned, it was an easy stalemate to hold. when the uighar revolt came up, i choose to ask russia for help, thus getting involved in an alliance with them.

if you are wondering what happens when u are at war with someone and you force them into an alliance, the game goes a little haywire:

vic1.jpg

the ai pulled all its troops of the border just like as if we were in an alliance. however, still being a war, i moved some troops and captured some russian terriority... then i fought some of their troops and kill them.

so here i was, in a war and alliance with russia. the AI had switched to alliance mode and left me alone whilst i preceeded to overrun all of russia without the ai stopping me :)

o and a note, the alliance broke when russia declared war from the crimean event, it said i dishonred the alliance. thus ended the great sino-russian alliance war :)

I feel sorry for the soldiers you killed. They must have been confused. :(

I see it as more of a bug. That event should be nixed if there is a war between China and Russia. There should be some condition checks in the triggers to avoid this.

I would post it in the Bug forums...

This would make a very interesting AAR. Its almost like a guerilla war, or a protracted war the Russians didn't know how to fight.

It is indeed funny.

I will have to try it out myself. Usually in HoI if two alliance members go to war with each other people will go against the aggressor (although I've found making peace with with fellow alliance members is much, much easier)

The poor peasant conscripts were stupefied as the pair of Shaolin monks jumped out from behind the tree. The strangely-clad warriors performed a flip, then a backflip, only to land softly on the ground baring pairs of sharpened chopsticks. The Russians stood motionless, not sure what in Bog's name was going on here...

You could develop this in the AAR lol.
